Wow good for you guys! I’m actually starting to look into climbing at 47 since I happen to really enjoy tree work, I do some small stuff at no cost and take care of our local parks. I’m retired so I need to find things to do bc I noticed these past 10 years my body and mind have taken a dramatic hit since I stopped working. Was fortunate enough to retire in my late 30’s and raise my kids from 2 years old to current. My kids are very different than the rest, they are actually respectful and don’t have their heads buried in their phones like the rest of the zombies. We are into music so we jam quite often. I love I was able to do that but the lack of going out there and busting my ass hurt me, so trying to get back on the horse 🤞🏽 Best of luck and health to you guys, I admire your ability to keep it going 💪🏼
@@Will-nc7lp I would have no problem still operating my small biz AND climbing at way past 80.... but I am enjoying retirement as it provides me more time to devote to my other serious interest, photography...and travel. Reg, how about we plan a BC trip for next summer?!!. Maybe in the BC Rockies or the Cascades..or at one of the many remote BC regions on Van Is.
I get the heebie jeebies watching the climbing. I have no idea how you can do this. Those shots way way down the ground are terrifying. Your profession and craft is completely off the scale.
Good to see your back with the videos and sorry to hear about your shoulder injury a lot of young british arborist watch your vids for training reasons and for advice your videos do a lot of great work for people like me who is new to the industry keep them up pal ✌️😎
Your videos mean a lot Reg I always appreciate your mindset on work and the reality of things. I have been climbing five years now and I found your videos when I started I’ve now surpassed those that trained me and I credit you and your attitude with some of that. Always logical and kind of blunt I appreciate that and I hope you stay safe watching you do those tedious jobs has inspired me to find unconventional ways to some tree work that others saw as either too much work or were unwilling or unable to come up with an often simple but tedious resolution to the problem
not a in your trade, im a concrete finisher but i like watching tree work and partaking when i can. i agree keeping control of your weight for longevity in any profession. especially in trades that are physically demanding. im 6 months from 30 yrs in concrete and my weight fluctuated for years along with my attitude towards work. when i was heavier, my attitude was crap. after i figured that out, ive keep the pounds off which helped physically with work and attitude which has gained me higher pay because i contribute more. its something the younger guys in any trade will come to understand if they stay in for decades that everything is connected. physical problems often create mental problems which affects attitude and performance which can affect your wallet. hope your shoulder heals up, reg. a piece of advice...get a tens unit and a heating pad. its been helping me for the past decade when i have aches and pains that affect my work. i only go to a chiropractor when i cant move because something popped out of place. other than that, its tens unit, heating pad, keep hydrated and ibuprofen.
I’ve always loved your videos and I hope you have more of them in the future. I’ve been climbing since 1994 and I’m still learning every day. It’s definitely a living trade. God bless you and your family.

Hello mate. Good to hear from you. And I'm glad you're are still tearing them down. Regardless of age, I suspect there's very few that could live with your pace in the woods.
@@Recoates Agree with that. Reg, you and @Rico-ki5jq keep an eye on treebuzz. I'll try to edit and post a vid with included stills of the work I've helped my ski bud do, on nation forest land near Snoqualmie Pass. Not yet tried the mk3. I mainly use the battery saw for limbs, but in this case I had to chunk the logs quite a way down before pulling up a bigger saw, so I went with the 540gas
Hi Reg ! I’m an arborist that lives in Ontario and I would be willing to relocate to BC to come work with you and take some of the load off for you. Much honor and respect always 🇨🇦✌️🌳🌲
One thing ive found on snags with little or no branches, is that even if you fall it into some gap and it gets hung, if you leave enough holding wood, its easier to get a pull line on it with the throw line once its partially horizontal. Obviously, no one try that who doesnt know fiber, holding wood, tree weight, etc. But its something i utilize when necessary and possible
You will be back to this sight. Stand of trees needed thinning 10-15 years ago to keep robust crown ratios. Blowdown seems likely in future wind events. We all love trees, but sometimes one must manage by cutting, maybe plant some red cedar in understory of decent trees.Nice tutorial as usual.
What about some yoga for your shoulder reg !!! Loved your Starbucks video I moved to southern Tasmania for that very reason. Thanks for all your content.
Always a pleasure. Good luck with the device. Big investment of time, effort and money. Ye deserve success. 👍 P.S. Not all therapists are bad. Just most of them. 😂 Weeding out the good ones is tedious.
Ey up buddy nice to throw in an extra, makes you feel good inside 👌 I know it sounds daft but rub castor oil on your shoulder and neck muscle. I've had the same, ripping thick ivy off a sycamore 🤣bloody horrible, thanks for the good video mate👍
I had a pretty bad shoulder injury years ago. It kept flaring back up every few years as well. Not even sure how I flared it up the last time to be honest. I just picked up an old 044 to flop a big cedar tree and something popped. And it was excruciating to lift my arm past my shoulder for ages. Like months and months. After months of me trying not to lift it past shoulder height, I finally went to the doctor and was diagnosed with frozen shoulder. Which sucked. I basically had to move it past the point of pain to unlock it again, and it was painful as hell to move it past that point. I guess the point I'm trying to make here is make sure you keep moving it through its full range of motion just so it doesn't lock up on you, because it will eventually. You probably know all of this, but just throwing it out there mate.
