  • The fourth episode of Meet the Leaders takes us to Veejay Deenanath Chauhan.. We mean.. Veejay Nakra the Big B of the Indian SUV industry. The man at the helm of Mahindra & Mahindra's automobile division shows Rohan and Kartik how to play it cool when shouldering the expectations of millions of Scorpio, XUV and Thar fans. Veejay does reveal a little bit more on the new XUV500 that’s about to be replaced by the new car, which we now know is called the XUV700. Veejay bats queries, the hardnosed and the ridiculous, with class and grace and leaves our duo a bit star struck. You dont want to miss Veejay's recipe for making it to the top, while keeping it fun!

Another great video. I must say Mahindra should have made Thar little more livable and ergonomic, then I could have been a daily driver even with 3 doors. Its still lacks on modern touches(like those old school door handles, no armrest for rear seats, telescopic steering is missing, big lever for 4x4 engagement instead of a knob, etc.) and things are oddly placed(like all buttons are in central console, door periphery makes ingress poor, speakers could have been on doors instead of dash, etc.). XUV500 is looking like a promising upgrade with all the bells and whistles. Eager to see how the overall experience pans out to be

At 1949 they started assembling the Jeeps.
The design was carried forward with license and patent rights which led to the introduction of MM540, Major, Classic, legend and then as the market was advancing, they introduced the Thar in October 4, 2010 which had most of it's parts derived from the Bolero. It was mated with a CRDe engine and a 5 speed manual transmission with 4x4 gearbox. Then with the same engine, a facelift was introduced in 2015.
And by 2020, due to the government's safety regulations and to carry forward the legacy, they introduced the second Gen Thar in August 15, 2020.

Excellent. I liked the whole episode. Can't conclude who did best among you 3. By the way, you could have asked about upcoming Scorpio's crash test rating expectation (current one is not up to the mark, as everyone knows). But, still, I am a Scorpio fan :) and its in my wish list too.

The vehicle was launched in the Indian market on October 4, 2010 to fill the void left by its predecessor, the Mahindra MM540. The Thar has been voted one of the top-10 SUVs available in the Indian market. ... The Thar also comes with a seven-seater option, though it can be converted into a two-seater.

The thar's history reaches back to the 1940's but for me it goes back to the 2005-06's because that's when I first sat in one as a kid it was a 89 mm540 I think, which was passed down from generations. Sit inside for the first time in the beautiful hills of Coorg. Good days.

Coming to the Giveaway. The initial foundation for the THAR started with the *CJ(3A)* in *1949* followed by the *Willys (Kaiser Motors)*.

The amazing history of Mahindra Thar dates back to 1940's when the first iconic CJ3A was launched. The Thar got its design language mainly from MM540 when Mahindra parted it's license from Jeep, it also got the fenders and bonnet design started from the MM540.
I really wish to buy a a Mahindra Thar especially in Black Or Red 😍 mainly for my dad as he misses that king like sitting position from our old car SUMO. Fingers crossed.
