- Hoodoo exists, hidden, in the folklore of our mother and our mother’s mother.People of color has always had the gift of preservation so it’s no surprise that they knew how to keep their culture alive through one of the worst moments in history. When you say petitioning, what do you mean exactly? I come from a family bloodline of hoodoo on both of parents sides of the family. I’m new to the practice, and I’m looking for some guidance. I have so many questions.
So a petition is a prayer/request that you ask of anyone/anything in the spirit realms. There are many ways you can do it, you can write your prayer signifying who it is for, fold it and place it under a white candle, a incense(as it burns, or bring it to the cemetery and ask the ask the spirits of the dead to help you get the message to your ancestors. Those are just a few things you can do but there is power in prayer so if you don’t have the means to do those things try just centering yourself and pray with intentions and ask for signs of confirmation so you know if your petition will be answered or not
