    There's 40ft or 12 of line on these reels, and 3 prusik knots. Absolute genius. Yes, makes setting up so easy. Love mine.

    I'd take it apart and spray it Dan. Good little bit of kit, I saw Scott's video for it. As I get older hammocks feel a lot more comfortable and putting a tarp tent around them is top draw.

    I ordered 2 of these based on your recommendation. I received my package yesterday and there was just one in there. I contacted customer service to ask if they'd been shipped separately and to send me another if not. I got a response within 10 hours apologizing for the error and then an email confirming the new order was being processed to ship the 2nd one. I haven't tried the line yet, but so far the company seems to have good customer service. They may want to work on their order checking process to see if this error can be prevented. Looking forward to putting this gadget to use.

    What a brilliant idea. Just goes to show you can always learn something new. Knots are great but when you get older and arthritis starts to hurt little things like that would really help. If they bring it out in as you say black or brown/ green then I’ll definitely get a cupel. Thanks Dan. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

    Does the tarp not just drape over the line, then peg at four corners, what's the advantage of attaching to the loops? Is it to avoid rain dripping down under tarp?

    Not for me ,
    Knots are a doddle for me I've been using loads all my life fishing and camping though .
    This would just be another expense and bit of kit to carry .
    I would say to cut down on expense you use a retractable dog lead from a pound store ( they use paracord ) loop one end round tree using collar clip wind other end around the other tree and lock lead secure with a karabiner and there you go .
    Chop handle off and it even self winds
    Colour isn't a problem either and if you get a puppy one they are tiny .
    If it breaks it cost a quid and you've still got the cord .

    Great idea then the rest of the line doesn't get tangled before you're ready to leave camp

  • @stephenbarlow2493
    @stephenbarlow2493 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought one of these and it doesn't work. The Prusik knot, the widget for locking the line is attached to, slips under pressure. So you can't tension the ridgeline properly, because as soon as you put pressure on it, to tension the ridgeline, it slips. Making it absolutely useless. I tried everything to get it to work, trying to tension the Prusik knot, and nothing worked. I'm assuming it slipped because the cord is so narrow and shiny. I've been using Prusik knots and home made ridgelines for many years. So it is not because I don't know how to use a Prusik knot, as I have been using and tying them for a long time. I was in a bit of a mess, because this happened after dark and rain was forecast. It was my fault for not taking my old ridgeline with me. Eventually, the only way I could put up my tarp, was to just ignore the widget, and tie the ridgeline as I usually do. Also when it came to winding in the line, it was much slower than wrapping it round my hand like I normally do with a para-cord ridgeline. This gadget is totally useless. To think I could have bought a Dutchware ridgeline with all the hardware for nearly as much. Do not buy this gadget.

      @stephenbarlow2493 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to give you an update on this. I contacted OneWind, and after a bit of discussion with them, I sorted it out. They recommended trying 5 wraps with the Prusik knot with the tensioner, instead of the standard 4 wraps it comes with. It was better, and I could get it reasonably taught, but it still could slip if you put too much pressure on it. So I then put 6 wraps on the Prusik knot with the tensioner, and now I can tighten it as much as I want, without it slipping. I've also changed it to 5 wraps with the Prusik knots for the tarp. However, with 6 wraps, you do have to make sure the Prusik knot is loosened, to be able to easily slide it along the ridge line. But this only takes a few seconds. OneWind told me they were going to add this information for people who like their ridgeline taut. Maybe I'm just fussy, but I've always liked to make my ridge line tight.
