Neurotic Anxiety
It's a rare and seriously confusing condition some people have.
What happens is that he's literally using his fear, doubts, hesitation and regret to make himself so scared that he's in a form of a panic attack that makes him go through the situation, yet performing and doing it so expertly and focused. His body and speed come from that anxiety and despair to the point he's fearing for his life, basically allowing him to freely enter a survival instinct, where he treats losing as failing badly or dying.
It's a form of egoism that's also merging with his self-preservation and fear.
No ur wrong... He's scared about his team losing and if they do he thinks they'll dogshit him.

Tokimitsu’s anxiety stems from living up to the expectations he has for himself. Make no mistake, this man’s an egoist.
Not to mention he's so jacked from overtraining to be "good enough".
Ironically he embodies the desperation Ego tries to drill into them constantly. He uses Noa as an example, needing to be better to escape the slums. His anxiety puts him in that mind set constantly
In the sub he sounds anxious, in this he sounds straight up scared I love it lmao

I love that his aura is a muddy slime, which really make you feel out of breath and perceive the slimy and heavy nature of anxiety.
(also him being this much anxious isn't "not egoistical", when he states his fears he always says "I" or "ME" as if HE is the center of everything... lovely)
at least he's not egoistical in a way that would disturb or hurt anyone else (unlike most of the characters)
I am genuinely shocked that someone with such a questionable mentality managed to make it past the first selection! That aside, major props to this guy’s voice actor. Captured his insecure insanity perfectly in my opinion.

Is he? Seems like the type to let his emotions get the best of them and just charge head first into things. Even in this clip, he didn’t really seem to have a plan and was surprised at how easy it was to barrel through everyone.

He's more anxious than depressed, plus when he's anxious he's more egostical than his normal self, and considering his physical attributes are off the chart, that he bodied barou, its quite expected.
I think the reason why he’s so dangerous is BECAUSE he doesn’t have those things and as a result he wants them more than anyone at Blue Lock. Keep in mind nearly everyone there is a gifted soccer player who already came into the competition with above average levels of confidence and their own weapons. So, in a way this character raises the question of “what would happen if you through someone absolutely STARVING for confidence in themselves into an environment where they can gain said confidence by crushing dreams left and right?”
I guess that might actually make him the contradictive exception to the rule? It’s kind of like how *on paper* Ippo Makunouchi doesn’t seem like the type of person who belongs in a sport as inherently violent and unfair as boxing, but because he desires to obtain self-confidence he ends up managing to beat fighters who *on paper* should steam roll over him.

I like characters that have that poor mentality yet manage to bewilder tf out of the audience when it's their time to shine. It has been an interesting trait in anime, that's for sure. One example would be Kobeni from Chainsaw man.

In any anime there is always that one character that feels like an exception to a rule, in this case, to the "you need to be egoist with your goals to get better" (allthough being anxious and egoist aren´t necesarily exclusive things to each other), someone that doesn´t want to fell useless using that emotion to become better and being in the TOP 3, is a good way to present them as a threat xd
You've missed the point. Tokimitsu is a nervous wreck because he isnt living up to his own expectations of himself which are incredibly high. He is an egoist through and through
Aw. Tokimitsu is so adorable. When I first saw him I thought he had a crazy side but not a nervous one that makes him dangerous. I thought Isagi in English would call him the Juggernaut. Also his English voice actor sounds very familiar.
