  • In this video, learn how simultaneous color, or after image, tricks the brain into seeing colors that aren't actually there. The human vision system is extremely adaptable. When you stare intently at a color for a around 30 seconds, the cones and rods in your eyes become desensitized. Quickly swap that color out and you see colors that aren't present.
This video how to setup a simultaneous color experiment in Camtasia, then performs the experiment. Share it with your kids, friends and family. Teach it to your students. It's a great opportunity to understand how colors impact each other and learn how the human brain processes color.
Based on an experiment described in Josef Albers book "Interaction of Color."

Holy smokes. That was wicked cool. My after colors were bright baby blue. Love how you bring in science!

🤨🤩🤯 Very cool! I had night-mode enabled and got a nice, minty-green. Also, the animations in the intro are on point!

Thanks Joe. It blew my mind how intense the deception was when I first tried this. Albers makes it a point to talk about how different each individual is--I think you have special minty powers!
