Strands 98 - NYT Word Search - 9 June 2024

It's yet another new daily word game from the New York Times! This time we've got to find a collection of thematically-related words, plus their "spangram" that describes the theme. I don't know if I'll be solving this every day but I'm giving it a shot for now at least. We'll see how it goes. Let me know how you like it!

It took me forever to find PROTECTION, even when I knew there were only two words left. It was paired with the somewhat odd LOVE, which didn't help, since LOVE was not clearly an answer.

I found "love" early, and it still took me too long to figure out "protection." I was thinking in terms of "insecticide." That is not really earth friendly, however. I was never the gardener in the family, so I can hide behind that. LOL

Earth is such a strange one in this grid lol. If anything soil would make way more sense

Earth, in its second definition, essentially means soil. I think this is the meaning the grid is referring to, not the planet itself.

I guess, that fact that words in English usually pronounce and spell absolutely differently makes this game harder.
