  • Join me on my exhilarating adventure as I tackle the Alpine Panorama Ultra Trail 65 K, an epic ultramarathon that pushed me to my limits. In this raw and unfiltered video, I share my thoughts, emotions, and challenges faced during the race.
    As an average runner with a passion for exploration, I embarked on this incredible journey not for the prizes or personal growth, but simply to live life on my own terms and discover new places while learning more about myself along the way.
    With the race set to be the farthest I've ever run, I carefully chose Innsbruck for its stunning location and manageable elevation gain. Little did I know that the race organizers had a surprise in store, with the elevation turning out to be even more demanding than anticipated.
    From the moment I hit the start line, I encountered obstacles both on the course and in filming my experience. Dealing with GoPro technical difficulties, battling with my own anxieties, and at times feeling disoriented, I persisted with the camera, capturing glimpses of my inner journey.
    Prior to the race, I dedicated six months to training, though the flat terrain of my city made it challenging to prepare for the elevation gain. Despite the logistical hurdles of arriving in Innsbruck just two days before the race, I soaked up the vibrant atmosphere and indulged in the excitement of the race expo.
    As the race day dawned, I found myself exploring the picturesque streets of Innsbruck, savoring the architecture and relishing the solitude before joining the other runners at the starting line. Carrying a heavy backpack filled with gear for unpredictable weather conditions, I was determined to push through the fatigue and uncertainty that lay ahead.
    Throughout the video, you'll witness my fluctuating emotions, exhaustion, and self-doubt. Moments of camaraderie with fellow runners and breathtaking scenery offer glimpses of inspiration amidst the physical and mental challenges.
    Although the video did not turn out as I had envisioned, I realized that it captured the essence of my experience. Anxiety played a significant role both in my running and my filming, yet I discovered that embracing imperfections and accepting "good enough" can be a valuable lesson in itself.
    So, come along and immerse yourself in my journey through the Innsbruck Alpine Panorama Ultra Trail 65 K. Witness the highs, lows, and everything in between as I push myself beyond my limits and uncover the resilience within me.

    these are the videos we want to watch, honest, realistic, imperfect, in such videos we find ourselves, family people who despite everything live a parallel ultra life which is not easy, keep it up no other way, congratulations. My recommendation Istria by UTMB 🇭🇷

    Damn man that opening monologue was amazing and hits close to home where your head is at with yourself. A perfectionists mind riddled with anxiety is what I live, but I end up with analysis paralysis. At least you're doing it

    Great race video. 👍🏻 Congratulations on a perfect performance! 🤘 I ran the same K65 route and fortunately reached the finish line within 8 hours before the rain. 🙏 A runner once asked me during a race why I carry so much water that it slows me down too much. And it was this excess water in the hydropack that helped me a lot at the penultimate aid station, where water and other fluids ran out.

    • @TDMiller
      @TDMiller  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I actually had 2l of fluid on me. 1l water +1l with electrolytes. In the end I should have brought my own electrolyte tabs to mix with more water. Didn't expect this issue 😅

    Very interesting, I'm trying to get into ultra running did my first half marathon a month ago. So seeing you also suffer at the 21km mark gives me a great understanding of what it actually requires to complete an ultra marathon. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

      The half marathon is also kinda my favourite racing distance and it's always around that point where I struggle to keep focused. 😅

    I'm sure that if this was someone else's race report you would have loved it like we do. You may look tired in the end, but if my ultra experiences are anything to go by you probably felt a lot more tired than you looked. 😂
    I got the ultra itch now. Training went to shit this winter and I decided to go with it and have a year of not so intense training. Try to let go of some of the internal pressure to always do more. The downside is no ultra shape for a while.

    • @TDMiller
      @TDMiller  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally get it. I must admit, that in retrospect, I might have been able to get the same result with less training. I focused a little too much on distance and time on feet, and too little on quality workouts, such as uphill intervals as well as more race-specific sessions such as speed hiking. As a family man, I should have used my time more wisely. Oh well, we all learn.
      What I wanted to say, is that even if you feel out of shape, ultras really are doable for "average" runners like me.

    • @thedolenorway
      @thedolenorway ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TDMiller My best shape is just barely Ultra doable. 😂 What I lack is really what you just said you focused on, time on feet and distance. To be honest I think your focus sounds about right. I would consider the other stuff icing on the cake.
      Great job anyway in both training and the race!
