"Servicable" Nailed it, Ryan. And that's probably a generous characterization. Probably time to shake up things and put Paul in for Laam and Wynn in for Jones. We have a mini by to get more reps in and the upside of Paul needs to be explored.
Great job again Ryder! Again, Mcdaniels red zone play calling not creative and the difference offensively. Defense showed its true colors and didn’t show up. Like high school tackling performance. Overall undisciplined with penalties. All these are a result from poor coaching and on all three phases. Phins were underdogs and showed what they are - very mediocre and not championship material. Garrett said it that they are a finesse team and not a team that plays with brawn. I hated that the broadcast kept putting up stats that Tua is 0 for in cold weather games when he threw for 360 yards and was the reason they were even in the game. 18:40 it would help the condensed formations with 1 yard to gain, if they had a heavy set short yards package up front. They do not have that currently. Which is why they are better off spreading them out and just throwing the ball on every single down, or at least giving the appearance of throwing it if they are going to run.
Why is Julian Hill getting more targets than Smythe? Smythe used to consistently catch passes in the short game without the nagging penalties of J. Hill
Tua didn't show up until the 2nd half, when the game was already over. To be fair, the game was over after the muffed punt, because we are softer than charmin.
Tua played ok in the first half except for two throws in the final drive of the first half, and no the game wasn't truly over. Protection, run game, and playcalling were crap in the red zone, especially the 2nd half.
Tua only played well after the packers went into a more protective defense. Teams don't care about giving up stats. The packers knew miami couldn't win unless the dolphins got easy quick point so the packers offense went conservative and the defense gave up yards and points for time. To the dolphins credit they did take advantage of it but it wasn't enough and when the packers needed to make a play they did. Well Ryder, my guy, your Oline vid from a few weeks back, didn't age well with this game. I kept saying my guy, these Oline guys, are not very good. And even for this scheme. "Serviceable" is very nice compliment. Both Eichenberg & Jones have one step in the 53 man roster, and the other, in the practice squad. This year, maybe a so so draft to get two guards. A better draft for defense, so watch Grier make Guard take a backseat...AGAIN. Pathetic.
Well the O line vid was meant more so for that specific game. I want to add talent at guard as well. But also I don't think having a better OL would've changed anything in this game. Upon rewatch the OL wasn't really that bad. Some of there biggest negative plays came from a schematic error or expecting help from an RB or TE. Still think adding guards in the offseason is important tho.
