    Not being funny mate, you bashed the car, a young person that buys this doesn't give a shit about boot space or leg room at the back, car looks gorgeous, drives like a dream and looks amazing! Get someone below 50 review the car! He's reviewing it for an old lady!

    Honestly, after having a C-Class for over 2 years now, I would much prefer this model. I think the size is perfect for someone to drive to and from work, and casual driving on the weekends with friends. I don't understand why so many car reviewer's crucify this car for not having enough space in the back for passengers? If you were going to buy a car for the purpose of carrying people around, you wouldn't buy a hatch.

    Personally I think this is a much better looking car than the 1 series and a3 but that's just a personal preference, I would pick this over any of them any day, would have to be white though 😍

      BLAH - The problem with Audi is that their designs have stagnated. Audi haven't done anything to stand out of the crowd since the R8; which doesn't really count as it's a supercar. The 1 series, in all seriousness, looks to be made for the female segment.

    I love my A class. Comfortable, incredibly frugal (70+ MPG), more than quick enough, dynamic handling, lovely inside, zero road tax and beautiful to look at. Nothing has went wrong with it and over 4 years old. Perfect and I will be keeping her for a long time.
    Keeping it for when the kids can drive, they can get it then and I'll get a new Merc. Love them.

    I honestly prefer the rotary controller as opposed to a touch screen. I find with a touch screen that you're constantly having to lean over to navigate the system menu, with a rotary controller I'm just able to sit back and swivel my way through the menu. Thats of course a personal preference though.

    • @benkelly6219

      Same here everyone that jumps in asks if it’s touch screen, then when they see just how well it works they prefer it.

    The audi A3 S Line and BMW 1 series M sport are not as comfortable to drive as this amg line, I have had all three cars on a week's demo to compare. The automatic "parking brake" is great for holding and pulling off quickly, unlike the bmw that uses a manual out of date hand brake. The very firm suspension on the bmw ( run flat tyres) and audi setup may get on your nerves over time. I suggest you drive all three over poor roads to compare. Thanks for the review.

      Spot-on about road noise from the BMW 1series M Sport , Got the 120 diesel ( 2016) and whilst it's great to drive on country roads etc, on the motorway at around 70/80mph it's really loud and relentless and wears you out, finding it hard to even hear the sat-nav, going to try the Merc AMG line instead next. Anyone else know if different tyres can help this? currently got bridgestone

    This isn't a really bad car, I'd put it in front of the Audi but behind the BMW. The BMW may not look as good, but in my mind still looks better than the Audi and, as long as BMW keeps it RWD (because it's got a weird trend to make cars with FWD these days), I'd say that the BMW is best. Drives really well, is still quite economical and practical, which is what one looks for when buying cars like these.
    Just so you know, I'm not looking for an argument here, if you disagree with what I said first remember that different people have different opinions, and then move on.

    Mum has one of these, after a Golf7 and much prefers it. I suppose if you need a little more space, the CLA might be a better bet.

    • @Sevy89
      @Sevy89 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      We currently drive a Golf 7 from 2013 and thinking about switching it to this one. But 1 thing concerns me is that this car has a Renault engine.. i'm not quite sure if that will be a smart choice since i live in finland and the winters can really fuck up cars... The golf has been just perfect, no problems whatsoever.

    • @MaximilianvonPinneberg
      @MaximilianvonPinneberg 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yves Martens Renault engines are very reliable actually. the dCi in this is the most popular diesel engine in Europe. Mercedes also did lengthy tests on the 'Renault' parts before commissioning them. Remember their reputation is on the line if they fail prematurely. I spend a lot of time in the Balkans where winters are -20 or colder and summers are +40 or more. Renault is a very popular choice, plenty of old Renault 19s around too from the 90s. I really wouldn't worry.

    • @Sevy89
      @Sevy89 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Martin Jones So today we were at the Mercedes garage to get a test drive but they said the car wasn't available at that time, so they let us drive another model, the GLA A180 SUV Cross over. We might get that one over this smaller one. As i'm a tall guy, i couldn't quite fit in it...

    • @MaximilianvonPinneberg
      @MaximilianvonPinneberg 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yves Martens Yes the GLA is bigger, it's based on the latest Megane or at least they were co developed, so actually take a look at that. I now have a CLA shooting break Orange Art. I needed the extra space of the C saloon and it's quite sportier. But I agree,, space in the back of the A class can be a bit tight. I'm 196 tall.

  • @rayaanshaikh5830
    @rayaanshaikh5830 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Obviously anyone who buys these (excluding the A45 AMG which is great) dont really know much about cars. The thing rides like a rock, feels cheap as chips inside and most owners driving the lower powered engines dont even realise they come from a Renault!

    • @JohnBirtchetSharpe
      @JohnBirtchetSharpe 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rayaan Shaikh again with this Renult parts thing... only 1 engine comes from Renult and thats the 1.5 diesel unit found in the 180cdi (now 180d), but that model car is for frugel drivers or company car drivers that want to pay the least amount possible. Drive an A250 or A220d and they are not a bad balance , the facelifted models have also improved on interior quality ..its a nice place to sit dont be put off by the reviews test drive yourself or rent for a few days and compare. I dont get a grin like I did in some of the others cars mentioned but its more exciting then the standard A3's (and interioir is now close in quality and feels better to sit in) and more comfortable (space wise for the driver) then the equivelant BMW. Yes its not RWD but I currently have a 4matic so its tough to compare like for like (I have previously owned a bmw) .

    • @rayaanshaikh5830
      @rayaanshaikh5830 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John Birtchet-Sharpe
      The A250 although a good, quick engine has an indecisive gearbox. Same with the A220d which IMO has a tractor engine (no idea why they haven't changed this unit out yet, the same basic unit has been running since 2002). Being 6 ft 2 I can't fit inside when it has the pan roof and without the pan roof it feels claustrophobic - very annoying.

    • @JohnBirtchetSharpe
      @JohnBirtchetSharpe 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      can't argue you with those points, each to their own. Being only 5'11 it suits me (yes I have a pan roof ), liked the Bmw too but the wife did not want essentually the same cabin we had back in 2005. Golf Gti I rented was fun, but it's selling point was a put off didnt go for all the retro mk1 feel.

    This car should not be getting compared to the A3/1 Series when it comes to the interior. The carbon fibre is way nicer in the Merc than the other two. This car is more special and has that extra quality feel over the other two. The manual version of this car is much more satisfying to drive compared to the other two. This coming from a guy who has previously owned 3 audis (A1,A3 & A4) But the first time i got an A Class (A250 AMG) i was completely blown away by everything from the Mercedes treatment to the free car repairs etc that Mercedes offer.

      Went up £10 the next day I signed up though. Still not a bad deal, nice executive package, no deposit, no £300 admin fee (I found supposedly good deals that would then lump a massive admin fee on in the small print). If I had my time again, I'd prob go for the sport, for a couple of quid extra you get the dynamic select. Quite happy with the active parking, heated seats etc that comes with the executive package though.

      Oh and I asked for 10000 miles but the price went up about £12 per month, its cheaper to pay the over mileage charge of 9p pm. Works out about £180 for 2000 extra miles rather than an extra £12 per month (£288 over the term), weird that.

      +koshtie actually the only thing Renault is the bottem range diesels for both the A class and the now the C (1.5 ltr 180 CDI/d) apart from that , there is nothing Renult. This was part of an agreement for swapping parts with Nissan / Renult a while back... saying the car is a Renult is like Masarati is a Chrysler . Please be more specific (though it does make me smile seeing all those 180's in AMG body kit's with tiny 1.5 ltr diesels from Renault.)

    Why do they always have lanky people doing reviews for small cars and then complains not enough head and leg room?

    Just save the money and buy a Mazda 3 hatchback. More spacious, more boot space, more reliable, and probably more comfortable too. Very handsome car that one is too.

      I'm with you with that one. it is a nice car and Mercedes are probably charging more for the badge.

      As long as you don't need fancy interior that's true. The Mazda is great, but there are close to no options to change interior colors, material...
      Try to get brown leather for example...

      +senseiqhi Not only for the badge. For individual options and (still) better materials.

      Sirion That is true. I wish they'll bring over the two-tone interior they have in the Mazda 6 facelift in a future update. In terms of options, yeah probably not much for Mazda 3 interior. The quality isn't too shabby though! Impressive for a car competing with other Japanese and American hatchbacks in the market.

      The interior materials in the A-class mostley feel quite nasty and cheap.

  • @aabidamn

    I can't say this enough. This guy's driving position is too far aback, even for someone his size. He always makes the 2nd row leg room looks narrower than it actually is, no matter what car he tested.

    • @rayaanshaikh5830
      @rayaanshaikh5830 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +aabidam You understand that height has nothing to do with driving position and its actually dependent on how long your legs are right? You can get a 5ft11 bloke with long legs and a 5ft11 bloke with a long torso and the latter will have a more forward driving position.

    • @aabidamn
      @aabidamn 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rayaan Shaikh It has every thing to do with driving position, unless you have a severely disproportionate body. And also I said and meant size not height. That includes height, width, and body composition. I have a friend who is about the same size as me (I'm slightly taller), but he takes more space when driving. It is merely because he likes to stretch his legs to the max, while I prefer my legs to bend a little.It's more comfortable for me, especially if I'm driving a manual.
      I believe that is the same thing happens with this guy. Him and Matt Watson are just about the same size (Matt is shorter around half inch) yet he takes way more space for his driving position.
