I am currently studying MA International Business Management in London not from any reputed university. I have completed my Bachelor's in commerce from Ahmedabad, India. My ultimate goal is to do an MBA from a top university like London Business School, Stanford or Harvard. I don't have good educational grades also any work experience. I know from this I may sound too ambitious or maybe even crazy to think of doing an MBA from these Universities. I just needed some help so that I can be eligible to get the admission in any of these top universities. If you can reply to this it will be a huge help. Thank you.
It sounds ambitious because it's too early in the game. Take it slow and focus on getting some work experience, understanding what you want from your career and how an MBA can get you there. Give it a few years, and then revisit the MBA topic. We have a video on how to build your profile for MBA programs. Check that out.
MBA crystal ball has some great insights to give. I am reaching out to you as I am at the crossroads where I have both, Masters of management as well as the MBA program admission offer from University of British Columbia, Sauder school of business, Canada. The deliberation is as a candidate with having 2 years of full time working experience, which program would be a better fit. Looking to gain your perspective on this

I did my MSc from a top university French university and now I am unemployed. Impossible for Indians to get a job in France so better chose another country.
Hi Sir, Can you tell me how much work experience is preferred in top Bschools in Asia like in INSEAD, NUS, SMU, NTU, HKUST & HKU. I do want to target these universities as if i want to be in Asia only.. And one more thing what are your views regarding MBA in South Korea as Sungkyunkwan University is one in the list of top 100s (Ranked 54 as per FT)
Both countries have their fair share of good jobs, provided you can speak the local language. If not, it can get difficult to be invited for interviews.

Whats your opinion about going for MBA in Fall-2020 ? Since the classes would be started online during the first semester, I am worried if the companies would be willing to hire us when we graduate ?
That's a concern most currently admitted students have, which is why they're asking for deferments. Other than that, it's also whether the fees justify the online experience.
CA is a bigger and more credible qualification. Rather than relying only on your grades and ranking, make sure you focus on building your profile too. On our blog, you'll find several stories of CAs who've got into top bschools, some with scholarship.
Hey Sameer! I am a CA from June 2019 batch. I am currently working with ICICI Bank -Corporate Banking. I wish to pursue MBA to switch into corporate finance or investment banking profiles. If you could guide on deciding upon the following- 1. 2 yr MBA from old IIMs Vs 2 yr MBA from Bschools abroad 2. Can a 1 year Msc in Management/Finance from reputed institutes abroad reap the same benefits? If yes, can you suggest some known institutes for MiM? 3. Also is 1 year MBA from ISB equally beneficial for a career switch in core finance profiles? Thanks.
We may be biased, but we think it's important to have at least a few year of work experience before going for any management degree. And after a few years, a GMAT MBA appears like a better fit compared to CAT MBA. OTher degrees such as MiM or MFin are fine, but don't look at them as MBA equivalents. They don't have the same international branding and acceptability as a mainstream reputed MBA. ISB has many grads who move into finance, but it's not a 'finance MBA' per se.
Hello Sir, I am planning to do 1 year MBA. I have 18 years of experience 7 years in accounting & taxation field, 5 years as SAP BPC consultant, 3 years setup an industry and closed, and currently 3 years entrepreneurship bookkeeping, taxation, planning, business consulting firm. Please need your expert advice on the colleges to choose according to my profile and GMAT score required. Thanks
Sir does Stanford graduate school of business and MIT Sloan requires TOEFL, IELTS scores simultaneously? Or anyone out of two would be enough for applying with the following GMAT score?

I kindly request you to answer me these questions j am really looking forward to your answers.I am honestly a bit confused kindly help me a bit. Yours truly, Kavan Joshi.
MS programs are meant for freshers, so experience isn't needed. MBA is for experienced folks. Both require GRE or GMAT scores. Check their official website to see if they have a preference for either. MBA grads get paid more.
Hello sameer , I had a question , I'm working as an engineer (not the typical IT guy but someone who has spent enough time in manufacturing field as a robotics engineer and somewhat involved in Data analytics related to process optimization). Does this push me into an over-represented pool ? Thanks in advance :D
Tough to say based on what you've shared, since we don't know how the proportion is split across domains. A lot would depend on how you position yourself in your essays. If you come from an unusual background, make it easier for admission officers to appreciate what you do, rather than assuming that they'll figure it out on their own.
Hello sir I am doing my final year of b.com from mumbai university. I want MBA from USA 🇺🇸 but i have only 9 month work experience as cashier and 3 months in KFC salemans till now . Should i able to apply for gmat exam.
Taking the GMAT won't be an issue. But given your unique background, you'll have to think seriously if you really want to get into an international MBA, and the risks that come with it. Here's the kind of experience they generally expect: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2017/06/28/what-type-work-experience-required-mba-abroad/
Dear Sameer Sir , I just wanted to know that is it worth it for a middle class guy from a below average financial background to pursue MBA from foreign universities after he cracks GMAT exams , as I've heard the cost of lodging, fooding and tution included is around ₹1 crore , plus interest on it would make it a hefty amount by the time he'll receive his degree and get a job , so is it worth it??? Please reply Sir Asap Thanks a lot 😊😊😊
If you can't handle the worst case scenario (of not getting a job after spending so much money) then it's better not to go for that option. Take up something else that you can afford.
Hello Sir, I have been working from the last 2.5 years at a reputed MNC (Arm) in a technical role. I finished my BTech in EEE from BITS-Pilani, Pilani with a cgpa of 8.1. I have an above-average (one leadership and two college fest lead roles) extra-curricular background from my college, but post that, I have a technical profile with research publications and research based internships. I don't have international exposure apart from few technical conferences organised by my company. My GRE score is 334/340 and TOEFL is 117/120. I don't have any volunteer experience. At my job, I have been trying to be a part of marketing as well as technical works. Would you believe my profile is mature enough to apply for an MBA at top schools or should I wait for a few years and try to re-apply? Kindly advise. Regards Vima
In statistical terms, it would be a little early. The scores surely help. If this isn't a make-or-break year, you can give it a shot. If your corporate role hasn't given you any leadership exposure yet, you could try to tap into those extra-curriculars to highlight your potential. Send us an email if you'd like some help with profile building, or with the applications.
Hi Sameer I need some help regarding the career and job opportunities. I am in 3rd year of mechanical engineering in India. I have just lost all of my interest in engineering and I have been learning about finance and stock market from quite some time. I know I did a big mistake in my life and should not have pursue engineering at first place. But I want to try to make things better if I can switch my career from engineering to finance field. Would you help me in deciding what my next steps should be in order to execute this. Would you suggest going for masters in finance or pg diploma in Canada after my graduation if I do not want to go for MBA. Will I be in disadvantage during placement period that I do not have my majors in finance field but masters. Any help to overcome this problem will be very kind of you.

It's important to keep in mind that the pandemic may have slowed down things, not ended them. It's only a matter of time, before the economy bounces back. And so do the jobs that are needed to keep it running.
Iam really in a confused situation, Iam a 3rd yr medical student and interested in buisness also... Since after completion of mbbs we usually go for md or md specialisation. Since mba in abroad requires work experience we will be having 1 yr internship n i want to pursue postgraduation and as i get work experience there then i can apply for mba in abroad So what's your opinion and which specialisation is important for medical student?
Internship is generally not considered as work experience. Most doctors who work with us have 5+ years of full-time experience. Focus on completing your MBBS for now and don't worry about an MBA.
Hey , if we can't take admission without work experience? I mean without year gap like if I go for my MBA just after completing my bachelor's ?? Is work experience mandatory to apply for the college's?
All good international MBA programs will insist on work experience. If you can't wait for that, check out other options that we've covered on our channel - like MiM.
If I am an Indian CA from ICAI, what opportunities do I have in France? Which is the recommended course to do to get a job in France? Also, is it recommended to do ACCA?
Most CAs working with us aim for MBA programs. It opens up similar opportunities for them as for any other top MBA grad, not limiting themselves to finance.
Hello sir I'm from kolkata, west bengal. I have done Bsc study in Mathematics, physics and chemistry.. And last 3 years i was doing business with my dad. So i get interested in business study. I was very bengali medium student and i don't have very much fluency in english. Can i get admission any university in budget friendly price? Can you help me to study in my dream city?
International MBA programs would expect fluency in English. If your primary objective is to learn more about business (and probably join your family business after graduation) you don't need to attend an expensive program abroad. There are several short courses that you can take to learn about different business disciplines.
Sir,i have been working with a bank approximately 3.5 years in retail banking and now I think that I am stuck and want a career change and due to this I have been searching for a right way or you can say a right MBA PROGRAM for my career change. I want to pursue MBA out side India and that's why I have been watching your videos to choose a country to do MBA. I have watched your career change video on TH-cam that's why I thought of taking your guidance.
With your current experience, you'd be a good fit for American format 2-year MBA programs. And that region still has the maximum options among the top 100. If you wait for a few more years, you could consider 1-year programs in Europe.
So, if I want to study mba then should I have a job experience of 2/3 yrs is it really necessary????? Can't I apply for it directly after my bachelor program ends???? Can you explain I have been really confused

Sir,after bcom i have worked as an account executive for 3 years and as an accountant for 1 year, will it be a good option to choose mba finance in abroad
I'm little bit confused to choose a specialization in mba as I want to achieve a managerial position in my future so I thought that doing a mba in finance from abroad will help to achieve my goals for a higher position. Please give ur suggestion..
Specialisations work different in international programs. You don't have to make an upfront commitment to any field. you can choose the electives after you start the program. Check out our video on specialisations. Also, there are no guarantees that you'll get the job purely on the basis of specialisation. Employers also look at pre-MBA experience.
@@jaimesmith1086 Depends on the role and industry. Consulting firms may not care as much for front-office consulting roles, as (say) tech firms for tech management roles.
Sir I was going through your MBA in France video. One of the things you mentioned was take initiatives and demonstrate leadership capabilities at your workplace. What if our workplace is filled with dinosaurs? What if they are like gatekeepers....you know some people especially TLs and senior people are like "Jitna pucha hoon utna karo aur ghar jai...who asked you to think?.. this is how it is..just do what we tell you to do." How do we bypass that?
Yes, many managers tend to be short-sighted and fail to see the benefit of having their subordinates improve professionally. One way to deal with it is to look for initiatives outside work. Extracurriculars are a great way to round up the profile. Find out something you like doing when you aren't in office, and you'll find many ways to make a mark.
@@MBACrystalBall I recently found out that a startup founder who secures funding from an investor can also withdraw salary from this fund to pay off his student loan EMIs + expenses. This was new to me as I was planning everything while having the impression that we'll have to first work and pay off our loans, then try something of our own. Now that I know that this is possible, I'm thinking whatif I could target MS in entrepreneurship/MDE in design /ExMBA in entrepreneurship/Msx etc... at the top colleges but at different locations with a gap of 5 to 6 years? And everytime I go through a tailored program, I team up with a few friends and startup.
@@MBACrystalBall I feel that since my career growth depends on how my bosses perceive which may or may not work out well for my career, especially since my end goal is to have my startup I might as well work for myself. I've tried a few organizations and so far what I've learnt is no matter what I learn " seeing is believing" ...if I don't look like I can then they'll have a very hard time trusting me with more responsibilities (with promotions). So if my boss doesn't believe in me, I'll just have to be my own boss. So I was interested to know if we can di similar degrees in entrepreneurship but with different specialties (like Tech, Design, Fashion, services etc.)
Mr.Sameer your content is extremely nice and to the point....I really like it and so as your book Beyond the MBA hype.Good job sir, I appreciate your work. Applying next year with 4 years of experience would put you in the sweet spot. But no harm in applying in the upcoming admissions season this year, if you have a competitive GMAT score. Here are some good programs to start your research: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2015/09/14/best-mba-in-technology/
I'm a student currently doing BBS in Nepal from a just normal college. It is harder to get a good job or high post job just after graduation. My dream is to pursue a MBA from a renowned university.but best university asked for the work experience of minimum of 2 years.Does it hampered my chance to get an enrolled in best MBA program because of having a normal job experience after the bachelor? because it will be harder to get a high post or good job just after a graduation from the normal college. Plz suggest to me what I can do to increase my chance. Thanks in advance.
Quality of experience matters more than the quantity. So instead of focusing on the 2 yr minimum, aim for the average (5 years for most good programs). That will give you enough time to build your profile. We have a separate video on how to do that.
If you had to choose between HEC Paris and McCombs ( UT Austin) which would you recommend ?. If you had to pick one based on employment opportunities and visa availability
MBA opportunities are more in the US. Visas are tricky in both countries. Don't rely on just that. Think about why you chose to apply to those bschools in the first place, and then see which one puts more tick marks on your list. Is it necessary to start in consulting firms to gain work experience for the field of Management Consulting? If yes, are there any firms in India that appoint freshers?
It's not necessary. Consulting firms recruit from a variety of degree colleges. The elite ones usually recruit from the top IITs. But others aren't as choosy.
I want to be do Masters in engineering Management MEM... Recently I'm completed my bachelor's in mechanical engineering....and .I have onlywork experiences of local companies.....my co curriculum and sports background is strong......so what's the strategy ahead
MEM programs generally don't care about work experience, since it's meant for fresh grads and those with less experience. So you won't be at a disadvantage if you apply now.
In general it's a bad and unproductive strategy to pursue two very similar degrees. Check out how specialisations work in international bschools. You'll have the option of choosing multiple electives from different disciplines, in the same program.
Hi!! I'm planning to do mba from France. Post-mba, do I have an option of sponsoring PR for me and my parents in France?. If not, it would be highly appreciated if you could share countries that provide such an option??

Hi, Below is my profile. Can you help me decide if I can apply for MBA programs abroad. I am 23 years right now. I have graduated from IIITA (IT degree) in the year 2019 with 9.1 CGPA. Class XII with 98.1% and class X with 10 CGPA. I have 1 year job experience as of now in IT field (technology analyst in a bank) I am planning to give GMAT by the end of this year or in the start of next year. Planning to join MBA abroad in September 2021. By then my age would be 24 with 2 years experience in rotational program I want to shift my career and advance my career in abroad(mostly uk) What are my chances? Is it advisable to apply at this point of time? Or should I wait for few more years Thanks
Wait for a few years. Going in too early is not a good idea. Not just because you'd be at a disadvantage vis-a-vis other more experienced applicants, but also because you may not be able to get the most out of the MBA experience. Take it slow, focus on building your profile (we have a video on that), and getting more clarity about where you want to take your career.
We don't think it's a good idea to go abroad for an MBA without work experience. You can check out our video on MiM programs, as they don't ask for experience.
I have a question, Can part time work from home job experience be considered eligible..... Like I will start pursuing my bachelor's degree in the coming months and I might get a part time job.... Sooo will that work??
FOR HEC Paris also I need two years of min experience? I want to get into full time mba programme that's of two years. So Will I be eligible for it without work experience
Rather than looking at the minimum, look at the class average to see what they expect. We don't recommend going for any management program without getting any work experience.
One more question: Well work experience in any field will be counted?? Or there is any specific field needed... Like now I am doing content writing/creation intership.... After sometime it may change into full time work... Or after completing my college i get campus placement in some other field... So Any field will work? Or some specific like marketing/finance... And if I somehow don't get it... Then also they will consider me?

Sir I have completed USCMA(professional course for commerce students) in india. Can i pursue MBA in france. Will that professional course be a added beneficiary for entering into any universities.
Additional certifications can help, but the primary focus would continue to be on the bigger picture - your overall profile strength, work-experience, career goals, choice of program. Do you have any work experience, or are you still studying?
In India we do masters after doing such bachelor degree, like that way is there any masters level course in abroad? except MBA degree... in commerce line? And than what's the needs of it?

All MBA applications offer an optional essay, where you can justify career breaks. Online courses are one way to stay up to date, but with everyone doing it, there can be an issue in convincing the admissions team that you've gone beyond what others have done. Hi, your videos are really helpful. How does one create a good profile for MBA at top US universities after pursuing Medicine in India and wants to go into healthcare management?
It helps if you can pick up and polish skills that would be helpful in your post-MBA career. Beyond that, focus on getting more clarity on the career goals, talk to current students and alumni with a medical background.
It does not figure among the top MBA options. So there's not much discussion around it in MBA forums. Which makes the background research about this program all the more important, before you decide to move ahead.

Indian salaries are unlikely to match what you'd get in France. But we know folks who've graduated from INSEAD doing very well in India (e.g. working for McKinsey, Bain, BCG etc). And then there are grads from other bschools that go back to the industry they came from, as a slightly better salary and position.

Sir,
Which is better:-
• 9 point GPA in undergrad or,
• CA(preferably AIR) with a 7 point GPA(undergrad)?
For MBA.
If you could guide on deciding upon the following-
1. 2 yr MBA from old IIMs Vs 2 yr MBA from Bschools abroad
Thanks a lot for your frank opinion

Does this push me into an over-represented pool ? Thanks in advance :D
Tough to say based on what you've shared, since we don't know how the proportion is split across domains. A lot would depend on how you position yourself in your essays. If you come from an unusual background, make it easier for admission officers to appreciate what you do, rather than assuming that they'll figure it out on their own.

Hello Sir,
I have been working from the last 2.5 years at a reputed MNC (Arm) in a technical role.
Regards
Vima
In statistical terms, it would be a little early. The scores surely help. If this isn't a make-or-break year, you can give it a shot. If your corporate role hasn't given you any leadership exposure yet, you could try to tap into those extra-curriculars to highlight your potential. Send us an email if you'd like some help with profile building, or with the applications.

MBA in analytics. Will it have scope during and after pandemic?

Iam really in a confused situation,
Iam a 3rd yr medical student and interested in buisness also... Since after completion of mbbs we usually go for md or md specialisation.
Since mba in abroad requires work experience we will be having 1 yr internship n i want to pursue postgraduation and as i get work experience there then i can apply for mba in abroad
So what's your opinion and which specialisation is important for medical student?
Internship is generally not considered as work experience. Most doctors who work with us have 5+ years of full-time experience. Focus on completing your MBBS for now and don't worry about an MBA.

International MBA programs would expect fluency in English. If your primary objective is to learn more about business (and probably join your family business after graduation) you don't need to attend an expensive program abroad. There are several short courses that you can take to learn about different business disciplines.

Sir,after bcom i have worked as an account executive for 3 years and as an accountant for 1 year, will it be a good option to choose mba finance in abroad
The number of years is fine. You'll have to focus on positioning your career goals and why MBA responses in a strong manner.
@@MBACrystalBall how much emphasis is placed on pre-MBA experience by employers?
@@jaimesmith1086 Depends on the role and industry. Consulting firms may not care as much for front-office consulting roles, as (say) tech firms for tech management roles.
Sir I was going through your MBA in France video. One of the things you mentioned was take initiatives and demonstrate leadership capabilities at your workplace. What if our workplace is filled with dinosaurs? What if they are like gatekeepers....you know some people especially TLs and senior people are like "Jitna pucha hoon utna karo aur ghar jai...who asked you to think?.. this is how it is..just do what we tell you to do."
How do we bypass that?
Yes, many managers tend to be short-sighted and fail to see the benefit of having their subordinates improve professionally. One way to deal with it is to look for initiatives outside work. Extracurriculars are a great way to round up the profile. Find out something you like doing when you aren't in office, and you'll find many ways to make a mark.
@@MBACrystalBall Sir is it possible to do more than 1 business degrees in different specializations..if we want to start up in different locations?
You could, but that would be a pretty inefficient use of resources.
@@MBACrystalBall I recently found out that a startup founder who secures funding from an investor can also withdraw salary from this fund to pay off his student loan EMIs + expenses. Wait for a few years. Going in too early is not a good idea.
