      Common occurrence on Chicago's South side, Western avenue. Luckily for me, we were in the crew van on overtime, had that happen 3 times!

      You got that right! I've seen that happen to you several times now.
      I'm surprised JT hadn't experienced that until now. I know both of you have now.

    That first train was bookin' :) WWOT (a fellow railfain) often stands between the CSX and NS tracks and has this happen. It's hard to know what to shoot for the video :) Very nice catch!

    Thank you for documenting these Norfolk Southern and CSX trains in Walton, Kentucky! That is interesting that the CSX tracks are only protected by a crossbuck and a YIELD sign. Please upload that video that your wife took in LaGrange, Kentucky. WWoT has a lot of crossings in the Dunkirk, New York area where the Norfolk Southern and the CSX tracks are right next to each other. In WWoT's area, bot the Norfolk Southern and the CSX tracks are protected by lights and gates.

    • @deanstrand4260
      @deanstrand4260 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll take a wild guess on why there's only a crossbuck and yield sign there.
      I'm thinking this area is probably more rural with less traffic, than Dunkirk.
      Yes, please post Mrs. Tooth''s video, of the train running right down the street. 😀😀

      You probably wouldn't know about this anymore than I do but I can ask anyhow :
      They went through and redid the lines where I live.
      And they got stacks and stacks of the old railroad logs, what do they do with them ?

    • @michaelgarrity6090
      @michaelgarrity6090 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good to see so many rail cars on rail fan videos of lumber cars, that means that the stock of lumber at the big box stores and independent lumber stores has to be getting better. Maybe the prices will go down too.

    Interesting as always! Thanks to you, I'm more conscious of the flashing ditch lights. I even did a railfanning video in Rhame, ND to show that they're not always used on trains. Unlike you, I didn't film the whole train: all oil cars except for the pusher being returned.
    This video of multiple trains reminds me of when I lived in Harvey, ND which is bisected by a switching yard. There was a pedestrian bridge over the yard. Sadly, back then, I was still using film photography. I could have made some amazing videos in that town. I'm thinking about going back in the summer to do some video. One clear memory is being woken up at night as they built trains: the bang would carry through every single car. The town I live in now gets 2-3 trains per day, but they only stop if they are picking up grain at the elevator. I do have a cool photo hanging in my living room of train cars and a rainbow that I took one fortuitous day.

    This is pretty cool, JT. Another great place to watch trains is further west in Fargo ND where they have the coal trains. Family was out there on vacation when they were halted at a train crossing. Probably were three or four cars away from it and it was still shaking the camera. Appleton WI has some great trains too. Most of them are two miles long.
    Keep up the great videos!
