Thanks for the question. The alyssum are confusingly despite their names- completely different plants. Sweet alyssum’s is lobular maritime- its shorter lived more of a bedding plant and it is considered an annual in cooler climates
Whereas Basket of Gold Latin name is Aurinia Saxatalis. Its is an evergreen perennial and is more woody. It looks like it is much more hardy than sweet alyssum. Although, it looks like its also great for attracting beneficial predatory insects. I can’t say we have ever grown it so that’s all we know!

Yes, you can definitely start Allysum indoors. 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date in your area if you're starting from seed. We'd recommend tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, and squash!!

We just like adding a pronoun to feel more connected to what we are growing and in more of a relationship with it. Choose whichever one you like! For us personally, she, is the easiest to relate to, but we don't use any rules or science to pick them!
