I appreciate the consistent quality in the kicker lineup. You maxed all of em out pretty good and the only one that gave you even light problems was the one that was clicking. Impressive! Hope to see more companies allowing you to check their subs out for us!
You should test most efficient subs.. what gets you the most bass with the least amount of Watts... Something on the lower range like 300-500 rms range. These massive subs need to much power and upgrades for the average person.
That’s actually not true. Research it. For subwoofers the lower the sensitivity the easier it is to reproduce bass. And there are also written tests about it online. I had a JL audio. Got rid of it because even at the same amount of watts my sundown audio sounded louder and deeper. Also sounded more clean and rich.
Man I had the little JL Slash 250/1 and two 12" w1's in a work van... That sh!t killed..! I bought the q class square 15" 3 years ago about. The corners of the surround broke after a year of playing. The box I built maybe was the issue. A 3.2 sqft sealed. I powered it with a JL 1000 amp. My electrical system could never let that JL scream so I know it wasn't over 1200 as the sub was rated. Maybe that's why they got rid of the square q class? Idk I will say though. Best quality sound and on point with the beats for the q class. Even when broken. I just left the seat up so I didn't hear the mush.
Just bought 2 q-class 8 L7s for my new Toyota 86. Can’t wait to build a sick box for them. They’re both heavy and should be monsters together at 2 ohms, being fed by my JL 900/5.

Those comp q subs sound really good. Too bad you don’t have a more in spec box, that one looks way too big for it, that port too. They can get pretty loud without a ton of power.
i'm pretty sure that could be built to specs, often they recommend/use small boxes at a high (40Hz) tuning frequency assuming that the cars' cabin will "amplify" the even deeper bass enough to where you don't need a huge box and still get decent output under 30Hz, but proper sub boxes are built differently, with a tuning of 20-25Hz and a large port to get rid of port noise at those deep frequencies, because more indepth builders don't wanna rely on cabin acoustics, and just use a dsp in the end to get peaks out that will also improve power handling and overall output at the deepest spectrum.
The sq will def be better with kicker than other subs in that price range. I've had a American bass and it sounded ok but not as good as the more expensive alpine r's. No doubt they get louder but they lack the r&d that companies like kicker n alpine pit into their product. Def far from knocking any sub I'm abusing skars subs rn n they're loud n handle gobbs of power but lack the sq I had with the alpine. None the less, awesome video thanks for sharing!
