The vegetable garden is feeling really autumnal at the minute and there is still lots growing which is amazing to see this time of year.
I've put together a budget and we're heading into town to pick up a few supplies before we get into today's patio garden makeover project!

Hi Laura, a little tip for you (may be too late but always an option), if you go to these places or even timber merchants, they always have broken or split boards that nobody will buy, if you ask at the counter if they have any unsaleable boards, they will normally have some and sell them at silly prices as they can't get rid and normally skip them, just a tip I tried here in uk, I got 12 split deck boards for £1 a length and made 3 planters .....👌No harm in asking......
great information! one thing to add, in the U. S. the store will cut the lumber to size for you :)
I totally agree, this is such a good tip Shawn and would save me a lot of money! Come January I have a few more beds to build, I am definitely going to try this and shop around! thank you!! 🤗

@@thetinygarden_ Creative cramming works as long as the plants grow as stated. Also being ruthless with removal, if it gets too crowded or something is shading out the other. The ruthless part is hard. It takes a few years to figure out how much you can eat/preserve too.
Exciting having a redesign! I still haven't finished clearing out my garden beds but you're inspiring me to get on with it!Looking forward to seeing episode 3 :)
My other beds are a mess!! I need to do some more tidying! 😆 I don't blame you for not clearing them yet, it looks very cold where you are at the minute 🥶🧊
Looks like our Home Depot or Rona. Clare at the Veg Plot Thickens got an advent seed calendar, I’m going to send that suggestion to our seed store for next year. Isn’t it insane how expensive wood is 😢. I drive a big truck 🛻 😂😂 I don’t even like riding in small cars. Good chance for a clear out 💪💪. It’s pouring rain here today but of course it we are digging the septic system so it’s a mud field 🤦🏼♀️. Great job on building and hey Tricia approved so it must be good. A seed calendar wow that sounds like so much fun! My dad was complaining there last year, during his house renovation, that the cost of wood has gone up so much! I'd say you have a nice big truck Ali I've seen the dashboard in some footage before on the way to Walmart if I remember correctly! Over here our roads are tiny so I have a small car but big enough for me and Roo! It sounds all go at your end hope you are keeping well! 🤗🍂x

I love the idea of a Seedcret Santa! If I was in Ireland I would have taken part! You are so good with that saw and that drill! I can no longer use those due to arthritis in my hands, I lost most of my strength in them. The days are so short for doing any type of work outdoor, isn’t it? The bed is perfect! Be careful you are not doing too much too quickly, your body is still healing inside. Like you, I always reuse my old soil, it is too precious and expensive to waste! Take your time to make your decisions, we can wait. It is so important to get it right. Such a lovely surprise to see your video this morning, always wonderful to watch! 😄👍😘💕💕🌸
Hey Nanou! There is a seedcret santa in the UK!!! If find Charleys patch on instagram she organises it every year!! I don't know when the cut off for signing up is but might be worth a try!
Oh arthritis is so sore and always gets worse in the colder weather too! 😫 this is my first ever drill I was a bit shakey with it in parts 🤭
I will mulch the soil once it settles, and it will give it a new lease of life. With it all being peat free now, it's even more expensive! I'm thrilled you enjoyed the garden update. It's so lovely to hear from you! Take care and talk soon 🥰🤗🍀🌸

Little tip next time you're screwing planters together, dont screw the boards together at the ends, well at all really, you can get better results for longevity if you screw into the corner square stake itself, the end board you'd secew top and bottom of the board to the corner stake and then the outter board you put your two screws central to the board into the corner stake. Avoiding screws hitting each other and splitting the stake. Saves you extra screws when attaching the corner stakes too as your not using extra screws after youve connected the boards as you did. It avoids the weak points of going through the very end of the boards. I hope that helps in future builds! All about saving yourself time in the future init lol.

Your channel came up on my feed. New subscriber here. The stressing the US that sell tools and wood and such are called Lowe’s and Home Depot. We also have a store that sells some of the same just not doors/windows & wood called Ace Hardware.
I’m also growing broad beans for the first time.

Thank you for subscribing 💚 I had no idea what the stores were called! Broad beans are so unrated, I like picking them small as well it saves having to pod them, they are great for the soil too! 🤗🫘

@@thetinygarden_ and in Australia, it's Bunnings 😁 there's Mitre 10 and Home as well, but Bunnings is the one most people go to.
