I was on my way to work at the nursing home where I was a social worker when KPRS 103.3 Historically owned Black radio station announced Gerald LaVert died. There was no time to process it. The tears just rolled down my face. I's the youngest of 4. and played music all the time at home. My sister especially loved the Mighty O'Jays. And Gerald had that robust Man voice just like his Dad. And his songs often gave us a glimpse at his sincere vulnerability.

Did u know that N the beginning when they 1st started 2 make appearances 💁🏼♀️ he was against Gerald performing. I NEVER did find out y 🤷🏼♀️. But, he eventually came around & supported them N EVERYTHING that they wanted 2 do. When they would sing, "The Wind Beneath my Wing's" . Eddie would b almost N tears 🥲.
But.... they were happy tears.
