If Elias brings back Flaherty? Fan's and myself will be PISSED OFF! To replace Burns with Flaherty is an INSULT too Burns, the team, and the fan's ! I'd rather see nobody than Flaherty! Flaherty SUCKS in the East and the O's have Flaherty's record too prove it!
In all fairness pitchers have up and down years. He was having a down year before the trade and he sucked even more after his first start with us. His atttitude or personality didnt fit well with the club IMO as well. If we traded for a good starter only then would id be in on a deal for flaherty but only 2 years. Id rather make a trade and sign Gibson as depth. Problem is we will lose a goof percentage of starters to injury. We need depth as much as we need top end starting pitching.
The Nats once signed Max Scherzer, in those years comparable to Burnes now, to a 7 yr contract. That contract helped bring a WS victory to DC. PAY THE MAN, Mr Rubinstein, or waste top prospects (yes, plural) on a rental. Unless you can swing a trade with the Pirates to get Mitch Keller, who has 4 more years on his current contract, you have to pay for Burnes. So far, it looks like Mike Elias, took a swing but popped out to 2nd base.
Why not just push through the minors in the alternate? I get it, he is good, but contract year stats always seem to be superb, and slowly bottom out as the ink dries on that contract. Peter Angelos learned that wirh Albert Belle and Chtis Davis, two guys wirh histories of injuries and other issues. Then he allows Moose to walk to the Yankmees. a stinging rebuke of his management style. Moose had rarely incured injury and aside from Jim Palmer, had the highest winning percentage in Orioles history around 67%. Yet he walked, and that cemented a legacy of futility that began in the 1997 offseason, after the Orioles faltered, despite winning 98 games and going wire to wire. I still remember Davey Johnson resigning the day he won AL Manager of the Year. Then we hired Ray as a manager. Ray Miller is a HOF pitching coach, but as a manager, he was sadly insufficient, and one just knew that his hiring was a death knoll of sorts. Orioles history had always been simple: fundamentals, management, quality players, coaches, and support staff, with the blessing of the owner (EBW was a meddler, but knew when to step back, Pete did not).. I can only hope Rubenstein knows his history, signing a pitcher to eight years at 30 is a risky investment, and in the business world may never haopem, but this is baseball, its own greed enterprise, and add that weasel Scott Bor-a** to the mix, muddled becomes a slight understatement. I hope they tread carefully on this one, we cannot afford another snake-bitten majority owner.
They have very little pitching prospects in the minors - none are Tier 1 prospects . After all these call uos - our farm system is now ranked anywhere from 16-19 in baseball with only two Tier 1 prospects . Believe me ! There is nothing down there especially with starting pitchers thst can help this season !
Of course we have made an offer to burnes...but if he wants to go out west unless we pay 20 more millon then a west coast team then wr should pass.... 6 years 250 take it or leave it
Not an Elias fan. This franchise needs a replay of a front office that has a Harry Dalton, Frank Cashen in charge. Not only is pitching a concern, but I do not like the condition of the offense. This team has a plethora of young talent that requires veteran leadership to navigate the years ahead of them.
You might be an idiot. Elias has done more with less then just about anyone. He will get a good starter, i have faith in Mike. If his greatest fault is not getting burried with an overpaid free agent contract then so be it.
lol i Jack F. is def not a guy I want back. Give me Cease or Castillo shit maybe both and im good. Doesnt look like the FA is the way they will go so trading i like those options
we've already seen Flaherty shit the bed with the Orioles.
We have to re-sign our SUPERSTARS!

O's only really need a rental til brandish comes back. No big gambles here. Draft college and USA pitchers and you have everything you need in 2026

Our veteran leadership should be Anthony Santander! He was a rule 5 player and a great power hitter and in clutch situation’s‼️
