- I had lost my voice for a few days so that’s why I sound the way I do at the beginning! This one isn’t support exciting, just a day without power and then the big task of taking down the sugaring supplies.

I pushed a 4 yr old in a stroller, carried my 2 year old special needs non walking son in the back pack and strapped the newborn in a snuggly on the front of me. Seeing Wesley brought back memories. I was in the best shape of my life back then. (My son is 33 now). Good job Mom!

Hi Tori, no better family than the Baird's to push through a power outage. You know how it's done and don't freak out like so many do.
I have to tell you Tori, I got the nicest compliment from my husband of 45 years yesterday. I was boiling down our last batch of sap all day, feeding the fire to keep the sap boiling, and he said, WOW, you did a Tori today and finished cooking that sap! Nice job!

Tori! You're videos are exceptional! Never doubt for a minute that the content you are creating is spot on. (i.e. the short paddle video) Showing us all sides of what you go through is much appreciated, probably because there's a lot of us who have gone through, or are going through, similar "adventures". Also, from my husband: regarding the maple syrup lines, to disconnect from the tree at the highest elevation, put the line in a soapy bucket right at the tree, go down and disconnect at the bottom and suck the water through it. Do it in place and leave it to dry. Then wind it up and put it away. The secret is the fewest steps possible in everything we do. One more thing, you will find that this is something that you will do in everything you do going forward.

I planted sunflower seeds with my granddaughter Harley as well!!! And we do vegetables as well. She just turned 3. She helps go shopping in the garden too!! Her favorite video of the week is Going On a Crocodile Hunt. Thanks for sharing. And the burner had me so confused too lol

Re: cleaning the hoses, could you next time roll them up to fit inside each of the buckets and soak them? Then, pick up one end and let the water drain out? Might get them cleaner and be easier? Just a suggestion, but I don’t make maple syrup!! 😂 Great job, but try to rest! 👏🏼

Maybe time for an Automatic Standby Generator. We had ours installed after "Superstorm Sandy"!
We often loose power at our house and did the same day as you. I bought a product called a Generlink transfer switch. Reasonable price. It is a manual process not automatic but one generator and one cable and it powers the whole house. Check it out. Cheers!!
That's a lot of work cleaning all the buckets and hoses. Thank goodness for gravity eh? 😂
