Of course, something beats the Constellation. As beautiful an airplane as it is, it simply couldn't compete against the new jets for speed and efficiency. The economic reality of much higher maintenance costs, plus burning 130 octane avgas vs Jet-A at about 2/3 the cost simply could not compare favorably
@@ernesthill4017 who needs new when you have a timeless beautiful classic the tripple vertical stabilizer the four turbo prop engines the roar of those pistons some things are like fine wine unlike today's jets these planes of yester year where there is no computers where a real pilot flew the plane not a damn computer these air planes took a real pilot where it took brains to fly from lax to New York by hand the Douglas and the Connie did not have GPS they flew by headings on the instrument dial no visual computer screen like today's glass dashboard in the cockpit where computers release the pilot to sit back and watch a screen
You both do have valid points but I think @ernesthill4017 takes the prize if the owner is stinking rich because vintage is for the rich. On the other hand, if it's a rich a rich owner we gat there, he should be strutting it allover the place and he has to keep up with costs of maintenance or all together park it somewhere safe and out of reach of any fly-boy unless he wants to make a coffin out of it and lose it altogether.
@@ernesthill4017 only a millinial would say that no appreciation of real aircraft which it took a real pilot to fly unlike a jet which is flown by a computer 99.9 percent of the time child you would get lost if you even looked at the instrument panel lol goober
Thanks Deb for your guys' effort and passion in looking after and restoring these precious aviation heritage. Can't wait to see the Hawker Sea Fury with a new life.
One of my aunts and uncles owned a house near Lambert International Airport in St.Louis. As a child I would sit in the backyard and watch the Connie's fly overhead. Thank you Mr. Howard Hughes and your airline of TWA for first flying the Connie's. They left a life long memory for me of the most beautiful aircraft that I had the pleasure to see in the air. Have a nice day.
Similar story here. My dad was in the USAF and stationed at McClellan AFB in Sacramento. There was a squadron of EC-121s there with the radar domes on the top of the fuselage and hanging on it's belly. I was about 4 then in 1957. I fell in love with the the Connie all those years ago when Mom would drive out to the base to shop at the commissary or pick my dad up from work. As a 4 year old, they looked enormous! 🤣
Please, please, please keep this magical airplane with the ability to fly, and showing generations to come how beautiful design can change the World....
Those things are amazing taking off at night seeing the flames coming out of the exhaust. One of the last ones I saw crashed in 73. In miami Full of christmas trees. They were all wet. And it Drag the airplane down.
It was sad that the Connie and a Douglas dc6 four engine I believe was a united aiines and the Connie was two collided over the grand canyon only thing that was visible was the trademarked tail of the Connie that showed the location of the crash site may both crew and passengers rest in peace from both airlines and thank you for the video of the iconic Connie
It was a DC -6, but yes, a 4 engined airliner in competition with the Connie. The pilots were buzzing the canyon to let people have a gander. Another Connie and a Boeing 707 collided over Carmel, New York in 1965. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1965_Carmel_mid-air_collision
I flew several times on those as a kid across the ponds. I was three my brother was 1. We had to land in Manila for food and fuel, then on to Taipei to meet my Air Force father.
The Thrill of being nearby when a team of 3350 radial engines fire up is indescribable. They belch & cough & blow smoke & fire & eventually run smooth & spin those huge propellers hissing the air. Oh Yeah Baby‼️

@@eriakup lol the vintage would out last the jet since it does not need a computer fly like the jet does
Absolutely awesome!! 🤩✈️👍👍👍
Nice to have Connie back in the air.

Eisenhower had a Connie as President
So did General MacArthur. He named his Bataan.
I flew several times on those as a kid across the ponds. I was three my brother was 1. We had to land in Manila for food and fuel, then on to Taipei to meet my Air Force father.
Every engine spits fire. Not just Connie’s . Same with Fords Powerstroke engines, ALL engines have a Powerstroke
This airstrip Is 3 miles from my house and I see Connie in the air a couple of times a year…..magnificent Aircraft.
It reminds me of the only N4247K of Palau that I saw.
As a 10 year old kid y flew on one, the Super Connie with my mom and Grand parents in the US.

Mitico Supercostellation!!
Compare anche nel PADRINO n°1
After TACO 🌮 Bell Fire Sauce , Exhaust Smoke's and a little Fire 🔥😂
A true spitfire i see 🗿
The engines smoke till the cylinders heat up and expand into round.
Damn, i going back 1955
OMG 😲
This is normal👍
Was that at Boeing Field?
I hope the damage wasn't permanent.
No it's at HARS aviation museum in Shellharbour, NSW, Australia. And the engine's supposed to look like that.
@jackgray3357
No kidding.
Learn something new every day.
Thank you for setting me straight.
Beautiful plane.
Maybe 1958 Constellation....only produced a few years.
Cold Engine
yes she is are county's fav plane she's the first qantas ever made
So beautiful.. HH. TWA.......
CONSTELLATION AVIÕES ANTIGOS .MAS NA ÉPOCA ERAM MUITOS BOM ATRAVESSANDO OCEANOS E MARES.
That inner engine doesn't look so healthy, it should have stopped smoking after a few seconds
it was 2nd to start
火吹いてるよ大丈夫かな?❤❤
A top up litre of Aeroshell multigrade wouldn’t go far.
That’s a bad energy I won’t advise any travelers to enter
