    As a soft classic, I found this to be very helpful. For every “do wear” example, you gave an equal “don’t wear” example. Thank you, Aly, for another great video!

    Refinement in style is so important for me as a soft classic. Like you said moderate and carefully shaped clothes soothe me best, but I cant wear too basic stuff. For example a white t shirt can really suit me well but only in combination with lets say more edgy wide leg jeans (with high waist!). Because when there is no character, or when its too stiff, I look unbalanced and even messy. Like something is missing! Being a soft classic is all about having balance and clothes should shape your body + mirror your character. The official “classic” style (formal clothes) is not like my character and can look very off on me, but when I balance it with slightly edgy item, it looks really good on me. Also its so true that almost all accessories are too much for me, I don’t even wear sunglasses because it just looks too chunky. Thank you for all your advice. You help me to refine

    For those who thought this wasn’t helpful, try watching again and pause/screenshot the images of the dos. The video moves quickly, so I find it’s helpful to analyze the outfits in the photos. She gives plenty of dos! ❤

    This was an incredibly helpful video for me. I am 68 and now realize I have been “fighting” myself for years with my wardrobe, mainly because I have several girlfriends who dress very flamboyantly and I was heavily influenced by their style. It works for them, not me. I wish I’d known this years ago. Again, thank you for all your hard work and helping me find myself!

    Thank you Aly~! While I love your videos, I think including a few more examples for the DO's would be helpful. Maybe it's just me but as a SC I sometimes feel like there is just so much on what not do

    I've been binge watching this series. I've always wondered if I was a romantic or a soft classic. Your examples have helped me figure it out. Now there's no doubt I'm a soft classic. I'm so grateful to find out!

    Something that I struggle with as a soft classic is my hair as it’s naturally quite curly and frizzy. So it tends to throw off the overall look. Any tips or hairstyles would be greatly appreciated! 😊❤

    • @tangerinetangerine4400
      @tangerinetangerine4400 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same here. Usually I straighten my hair. A blunt bob is my favourite cut and it's such a classic. I guess well defined sleek curls would also work but I find straight hair easier to achieve and handle.

    • @tiffanyr9975
      @tiffanyr9975 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally just keep my hair as neat as I can (curly girl washing/styling techniques) and try to at least do a half up style with bobby pins. i find bobby pins are amazing for elevating a hairstyle to look more intentional and keep pieces neat rather than throwing up everything together at once. I find that it doesnt take much for my hair to make me a little frumpy, but adding pinned hairstyles makes a big difference!
      Also, I’m actually probably due for a trim. I have longer hair and get longer layers so my hair has an overall nice shape that is neither overly-layered or heavy at the bottom with no layers and a flat top lol. This also helps keep ends healthy.
      Hope this helps :)

      I'm a soft classic with frizzy hair. I get the struggle! After I wash my hair I towel dry it and apply both a frizz serum and an oil to the ends. Then to style, I wear mine in a sleek low pony with a light weight gel and hair spray. Or low bun. In the Colder months I wear it half up, half down. It's always been important for me to keep it long enough to hang behind my shoulders.

    Hey Aly quick question: How do you feel about sweater dresses for all body types? I noticed you never mentioned it in past videos and not alot of people are wearing them(even though I seen them in stores) so I'm just curious about what you think about them. As always great video. Thank you and have a good day ❤😊

    This is great thanks. I'm a dramatic classic with soft classic as second. I just got a leather blazer, hope that's not too severe but I look good in shoulder-defining coats. I got a sweater dress the same exact color of the sweater you are wearing in this video - my problem is pairing with boots. If I do tall boots, there is like 2 inches of leg showing, which I don't like as I'm older, and if I choose booties, I need coverage as well. Any suggestions on tights? I see most women now go for bare legs but I just can't (won't?) do that in winter, or really any time, as my legs (although slender) are 60 year old legs. Advice will be welcome.

      Choose tights in the color of your shoes. In winter I go with a first layer of thermo-leggings or merino-leggings (+ good warm socks...) and a second pair of tights on top - in 20-50 DEN & in the color of my shoes. 🙂

    Can anyone tell me if this might be the moment that I should have realized I was a soft natural, had I known about Kibble at the time? I got my eyebrows done at a salon, for the first time ever, and it just looked wrong wrong. Losing the irregularity at the borders and that kind of wildness to my look just didn't look right. Is that a natural thing?

    • @fairykittenxx
      @fairykittenxx ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yea definitely natural are more blunt and deconstructed so it would suit you more if you are a natural if it’s too “clean” it makes sense why it’s feels off

    • @Mrg524
      @Mrg524 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am SN and I find that I look nice with my brows done. But we do tend to looks good with a slightly chunkier brow, to go along with our slightly chunkier bone structure compared to romantics. When I was, I ask brow technicians to trim them first prior to washing, so they can see what actually needs to be waxed to avoid over-waxing. So as a SN I would avoid brows that are too thin, but I wouldn’t avoid cleaning them up. Natural, slightly thick, and clean is a good way to go for all the natural family. But I wouldn’t recommend very bushy brows that haven’t been done at all for them. But people might have naturally neat brows and not have to get them done. Aly Art has a nice video on soft natural makeup in which she talks about brows 😃

    I bought an oversized/unconstructed sweater dress because it looked so cute on the model. It swallowed me up and I looked like a sad blueberry. D: No waist emphasis, too unconstructed, too voluminous, no real shape... Lesson learned.

    It wasn't helpful Aly. I see that you often spend more time saying what not to wear for soft classics than actually giving examples of what to wear. If you look at your history you short -hange the SC and their videos are much shorter than every other style. You don't even mention drop shoulders which is something I hate and have a hard time getting away from in both sweaters and coats. I also see that there is no mention of sweatshirts. A crew neck is a common staple. Is it a yes or no? And when you do the entire series and start with Dramatics you spend so much time on them; as if being elongated and tall needs help. HA! A bag worn over the head will make you look great and avant-garde! Stop speeding through SC, please!

      I think having the do’s and don’t s very beneficial. Don’t change a thing.

    • @LGrian
      @LGrian ปีที่แล้ว +19

      She gave many examples of what looks good. I get the sense you are unhappy with your type. Remember that these are not rules. They are just guidelines to help you look your best. You can wear “not best” pieces (which yes I think it’s quite obvious a crewneck not be a SC’s “best” thing) with other things, or in a fabric, that balance it out and still look great. I wear crew necks and other slightly oversized sweaters all the time, but I ONLY wear the highest quality thick cotton or wool pieces that look expensive. I still wear the thinner and graphic ones for cleaning or working out, but it’s not something I wear around as much cause it looks kiddish and sloppy on me

    • @moniquepreston1619
      @moniquepreston1619 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I think the reason why this one is shorter is because there are not as many things that SCs have to account for when it comes to different clothing items. You'll notice that for the most part, regardless of the type of clothing item being discussed, the advice was pretty much the same: short to moderate lengths and widths, some waist emphasis can be good, and patterns shouldn't be too over the top. Moderation with softening edges are the name of the game for SCs, and I for one like that there are not too many things I have to keep in mind when shopping for different clothes haha.

    • @Tamara-uw8gv
      @Tamara-uw8gv ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The problem is, that actually almost nobody really understands this type. I am a DC myself, my mother is also a DC and my sister is a SC. I can tell you classics are extremely rare and very hard to detect. So many people write in the comments, that they are SC or DC and then I look at the picture and see a completely different type, oftentimes FG or SN. Also Kibbe types people based on their vibes instead on their bodies. So everybody is confused about this type. Aly herself is a gamine, so she has to rely on Kibbes typing. If so many different types are mixed up in one group as a SC, how can she see what works and what works not? It`s impossible.
