  • These videos are filmed with the intention to educate and share our T1D journey with ya’ll. Having a toddler with type 1 diabetes is something I never heard of before Addie was diagnosed. I didn’t even know babies could get diabetes. My knowledge about diabetes was very limited to words like “type 2” “gestational diabetes” and “pre diabetic”. That is all. I’ve learned and experienced a lot about type 1 this past year. New children are being diagnosed every day and tons of parents are in the same situation I was in. Lost, confused, anxious, worried…I just want to give other people a place where we can learn from each other and lean on each other because this bs is hard 95% of the time! Thanks for being here!

Addie is a strong girl and she gets that from her very strong and incredibly patient mommy. You are amazing! I love how you interact with her having her help and giving her a min when she needs one. So many people can learn from your example not just with the omnipod but parenting in general. It's a tough job you have. You got this! Your both in my prayers. I love you videos and have watched them all. I'm sure it's not easy to not only the whole process of changing the omnipod but filming it as well. You're an inspiration!

I have a 4 year old with T1 diagnosed at 2. We started using numbing cream when changing pump and made a huge difference although you need to keep it on for 45 minutes or so. Your positive and optimistic attitude is so important and I really respect that. Hugs from London x

Addie is so sweet and strong. Things will get easier as it goes along. The more you try to involve her in this process it won't be as bad. At this age the more you can district her the easier it will be you could also make a game out of it or even try some rewards make it a special little time out of it.
I don't say bribe her that's not the way to go.
Make up songs finger plays and such. You could even make up things like an juvenile yoga routine. Where she's involved in moving in the way you need her to be to change it. Then it's fun and maybe even with the little bit of ouch that it gives she won't mind as much.
Keep up the good work and God bless you and your family.. 😇☀️🌸🍭

Totally wish I could give you a hug Mama, because I know it breaks your heart to have to see her scared of something that is literally saving her life. I don't know if you've seen Steele Magnolias. It's a great movie! I know some are like why are you suggesting that movie, it so sad. But it has a lot of stuff that I see in you when you are dealing with Addie. We see your strengths and we see the internal struggle when you see your baby girl in pain! We are so proud of you and Addie for not giving up! Love and prayers from The Alexander's 🥰💞❤️

If I may suggest, I would spread a little Neosporin on the itchy sites. It has a light numbing agent in it. My sites itch terribly after changing my sensors and infusion sets. (I use a different CGM and pump, but the same issues exist.) I was diagnosed with T1D in 1966 at the age of three, and have been using a pump for over 24 years and CGM for about 10 years.

Hi there any permanent markers should work if the pods are plastic (I assumed so) like sharpies. They come in various sized tips and millions of colors. They come in sets or can be purchased individually (called open stock) at office supply stores, but probably not the best price. They are easy to find even on line. You can use paint markers, but make sure they are Not oil based (Sharpies have some oil based). Posca paint markers are not oil based. You can find them in sets or open stock at art supply places or sets at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn, online, etc. They come in about 8 different tip sized and more colors than I can count. I also got a different brand on Amazon at a good price but haven’t tried them yet, so I can’t vouch for them. You can also get full sized sheets of blank sticker paper which might be easier as you can take time to draw the pictures when you are not rushed to get the pumps on once you open the package. The sticker paper can be cut to fit the pod. I
Got my sticker paper at Joggles.com, but I’m sure you can find it elsewhere. As an artist and teacher my mind is swarming with ideas. If you are interested let me know. Yeah art! Art is good for your soul.

I use Omni pod I see u strugglin with the air bubbles what helps is if u half full with no insulin then push it in and back it should make it easier and sharpies work to make them fun on. The pump and also stickers work in a pinch heres a couple sites that are good beyond T1D and for. Pump awesome ness it's a site called pimp my diabetes. If u are in Canada it's cheaper then pump peelz My fave candy is smart sweets they taste like real candy I'm a foster kid with T1D if u have any ? About like kids low carb food I have alot of e cook books I will send to u when I learn how to send it.
