I did that for years. My go to style was kinky twists. Then I came to the realization I should loc my hair since I love that style so much and it compliments my active lifestyle. Now I have sisterlocs down my back and keep my money in my pocket
Texas humidity doesn't have shit on Alabama... Texas is more of a dry yet burning heat. In Alabama it's that get cho ass in this house and stop slamming my mf door kind of heat and letting my " good air" out 😂
@@amychellehill5417i was literally about to comment this, take my hair down Friday after work then getting it done Sunday after church or Monday after work
Nice and professional. Ladies especially my younger sistas DONT patronize anyone that does not wash/trim/cut/condition your real hair which is MORE important than the weave. And stop paying the astronomical prices especially for someone certified out of high school.
First time sew in. I most definitely wouldn’t have given her any leave out! Maintaining the leave out is fkn annoying when you’re a natural that doesn’t wear flat ironed hair.
I said the same thing. If I breathe too hard my hair starts reverting😂. And needing to continuously use heat to keep that blend isn’t worth risking heat damage- (as I sit here with said heat damage from doing exactly this)
I would’ve gotten a closure. I’m natural and I love sew ins. I never do leave outs because I’m in the south and it’s hot plus I don’t want damage. This sew in was really nice tho
Me 👋🏾 I love my micro singles. I do them myself. Install, touch up at 6 weeks, and then another 6 weeks. They are super light weight, I can do so many styles, and my hair grows like crazy. It took me years to find a protective style and products that work for me, but baby I finally did it. 😂
I just saved myself some money too and did box braids on myself Monday so I'll be wearing this for about a month and a half with a retouch-up that I'm going to also continue to do myself
I was doing that for about two years and started my loc journey five months ago. I hated taking it down and detangling it just to go back so I figured why not loc it?!
This is me I've been in off and on but the majority of the time in braids/twistst for almost 20 years but I had to give my hair a break my ends and my edges were thinning. Its important to give yourself hair a break at least a couple of times a year
Kudos to the stylist for not making her come in with her hair already washed and blow dried. Not that I've ever had my hair braided or had a sew in. This video made me want to try it.
I wore braids for 24 years straight I will get them done every 3 months I'll replace them every 3 months they were so convenient especially when you work bedside in the hospital
I used to keep mine in a protective style as much as possible. 100% natural and working it along with working in Vorpirate America was no joke. If I could afford it Ivwould live in a full cover weave.
Would a Brazilian blowout protect it more from the humidity and active lifestyle? I want to try one so bad, but I’m scared that because I workout intensely doing HIIT Workouts 5days a week for an hour, i would probably sweat it out and have to apply heat daily to maintain it
I’d be careful with that leave out. It usually damages the hair that’s left out especially if the person is constantly flat ironing it to keep it straight!
Problem that I ALWAYS had with sew ins is that it my leave out would always get damaged and break. I'm guessing my hair would rub against the weft of the track and would just break off at that section. I watched it happen to my stylist too.
Both my hubby and i are black, and he absolutely hates weaves, wigs, and most braides on women cause he finds them really masculine looking 99% time. Because i wanted to be absolutely gorgeous for him, i started learning how to style my own course hair, AND IV NEVER LOOKED BACK. I so happy with my hair now. My hair has never been healthier or longer. Its in the best shape its ever been in, and all because i learned how to take care of it instead of pretending these weaves and wigs were "protective styles" and being lazy abt my hair. Im gobsmacked at how many of my black sisters talk abt not wanting to deal with their hair and wanting something "protective," which really means lazy and no time spent.
Speaking as an outsider, I don't see what's wrong with her natural hair; I even think she should have just stayed with braids, they look so good. Adding that cap and fake hair seems unnecessary
You're right, nothing is wrong with her natural hair but it's difficult to maintain. I have the same texture and if we leave it out we literally have to do our hair every single day, and it takes a lot of time.
It's not about wearing our hair, it's how much it takes to manage it and look presentable. Her hair is gorgeous here. If she left all that unbraided, she's struggling by day 2 or 3. #reality
She just moved to Houston from Chicago (unpacking, moving boxes, setting up furniture, etc), and works out with an active lifestyle. With type 4 hair, you’ll do more damage manipulating it every day and washing it frequently with certain chemicals. Type 4 hair likes to be let alone, that’s not possible when you’re wearing it “out”
I did that for years. My go to style was kinky twists. Then I came to the realization I should loc my hair since I love that style so much and it compliments my active lifestyle. Now I have sisterlocs down my back and keep my money in my pocket
Sister locks is expensive to maintain tho do do you interlock them yourself?
OMG, I did the exact same thing. I've been sisterlocked for almost 2 years!
I was thinking about sisterlocs but I heard they are expensive. How much did yours cost and to maintain?
@@Journeylivin for me, $150 every 6 to 8 weeks.
Aren't them retwists expensive af
Her natural hair is beautiful 😍 nice and THICK
with healthy perimeters too!
She’s brave to do a sew in with leave out in Houston humidity! Beautiful, thick healthy hair btw.
I was thinking the same and she works out 😅
Doing that style repeatedly over the years, my hair broke off in that area from not being protected.
Now that I keep it in braids, it's grown back.
@@Tea-zx3ub yep, the same thing happened to my daughter. Broke her hair off badly.
Shoot I'm in Buffalo NY and I'm scurred! The humidity here will choke you out!!

Her natural hair is absolutely gorgeous 🌺🌺🌺
Her natural hair is thick and gorgeous
Her natural hair is gorgeous!!
Her hair was so thick and healthy! I remember those days.
Her natural hair is Awsome
That was me. Getting braids every 6 weeks for like 2 years. I got microlocs September 2023. I almost 6 mos in and I absolutely love them!
I would have been appreciative of see the hairstyle completed.
Ooooh she has thick...beautiful natural hair.
.
I say I'll give my hair time to breathe and in two days I'm like okay enough of this
A weekend...thats it! 😂😂

Such gorgeous hair ❤️ This was me too and I got locs. Almost two years in now and I love it!
She is beautiful! The beautiful head of luscious hair, the smooth skin!🤩
I love braids!!! So beautiful and functional!!! I’m getting twists tm!!

As a retired stylist I loved the sew-ins and really changed the customers convidence!
She has a beautiful head of hair.❤
Looks stunning, blessings ladies, what a beautifully blessed talent ti share between friends. Its Georgous 😍🙏💜🙏🇬🇧
So to us all that love braids 😍^
This is me. Ain't been to a hairdresser in 15 years. Braid to braid. With a day between to give it some treatment.
That's basically me. Just braids, bun, braids. Never had a sew in either
I've never had a sewin before and I'm 38 natural girl. I would love to try it one day. Maybe in winter
Beautiful and strong looking hair. 👍🏾
She looks so pretty eating the fruit under the dryer! Like art!!
Lovely as a natural that sew in was sweetly done
This humidity in Louisiana would have that leave out looking like a fro in about 2 hours!
Wait I was waiting for the final reveal🙌🏽… looks good tho❤️
I love her natural hair. Rod set or twists are better!!
You slayed her hair 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Looks fabulous.
Wow 😍. Seamless blend 4 real. But if she’s anything like me after a good workout- it’s a wrap for that leave out-🤷🏾♀️
Exactly what I said!!!! Especially for Texas humidity
Absolutely Gorgeous ❤
Her hair texture is beautiful, its healthy and full 😍 and the sew in came out soo nice!!

Love me some sewing, also a back to back braided. Yes, it's easier for my day to day life.

That hairline tho. Well done, sis. 👏🏾👏🏾

I’ve never had a sew in or a silk press. I mainly get chrochet braids or box braids
Her natural hair is Stunningly beautiful. The world doesn’t need more people with straight hair
How do I purchase this hair? Its beautiful and matches my hair texture.
Beautiful job 🎉🎉🎉

Gosh, if only my hair could handle back to back braids, I'd rock them 365 lolll
Excellence!!!!❤❤❤

Healthy hair
I do! I Give my hair a break from December to March on Saturday I'll be back to my kinky twist
I don’t want to ever go to a stylist and they just take the hair out the pack and install it without washing it first
Absolutely ❤
I go from braids to braids! I take them down myself wash condition and sometimes trim the ends then back
To the braids
That hair dryer is 🔥
Sis hair is beautiful ❤
Same way we going from wig to wig 😂
Braids back to back is me rn 😂

Beautiful full head of thick hair
She already has a beautiful head of hair.
I do that ! Braids because I workout and don’t like salons.
So true about first. I have never worn a wig or weave.

I love that you used textured hair
It would have been nice to see the finished result.
I’d be careful with that leave out. It usually damages the hair that’s left out especially if the person is constantly flat ironing it to keep it straight!
Sew in always for the win…I tried lace once and never again…
Problem that I ALWAYS had with sew ins is that it my leave out would always get damaged and break. I'm guessing my hair would rub against the weft of the track and would just break off at that section. I watched it happen to my stylist too.
That blend tho
Her name is Tamika and my name is Tamika… I go back to back with my braids/twists, cause I’m also super busy 😂!

I’m in need of a hairstylist in Houston but I don’t have social media. Do you have a website for booking?

“Busy” made me go to a short, natural hairstyle that was easy to maintain. Much healthier than back-to-back braids or weaves.
I wish we would normalize just wearing our own hair as is.
It's work though

I would have rocked that fro it’s the thickness for me
That's why I'm like why not loc 😩 but I'm not reaaaaddddy.
Pros vs cons in the humidity smh thats finna be so hot beautiful job tho
I do I need to get my hair done I want silk press too ❤😊
I'll be 55 in June. I've never had a silk press or a sew in. I've been natural for 27 years. After I cut my locs off, I like wearing a short natural.
I love wigs. My hair is so Long. I suck at doing hair it's time for me to get another silk press.
Due to my scalp condition. Sew-ins is the only thing that allows my hair to grow and remain healthy.
I had locs loved it but just couldn't get a good appointment so i just 2 steand twist it every 2 weeks after a good wash
Hairstylist are kinda ridiculous at this point..so I would rather keep my hair braided
