When I heard we picked up Monty off Free Agent, I knew he was gonna be a beast for us. He was averaging 5.2 yards per carry with that horrible Bears O-Line. This is exactly how I'd imagined he'd do this season. ❤

I appreciated all those fantasy points from David this year. That and being from Detroit originally, I'm proud of how they're playing (finally!!!). I've been waiting for 65 years to see a Lions team go this far. Bravo for a season well played.

I was horrified when the Lions parted ways with their 2 solid RB last Season. They knew what they were doing!!
How Frank spoke about MCDC this week, that's how I feel about DMO. Dude absolutely blew me away this year and did it consistently. Didn't really know what to expect but he's all dawg, suprisingly versatile & quick, a leader...and a Detroit Lions thru n thru. Makes sense we signed him for 3 years off rip.
4:40ish Bucs game highlight play I feel somewhat changed his trajectory, was just a touch less explosive and a little slower to get up after plays throughout the year, but that's okay because Gibbs was ready to roll. DMO thugged it out all season, didn't complain or give one excuse, and stayed productive/clutch.
Yeah, he says the right things to the media but DMO forsure is a guy w/ high integrity who says and does the right things no matter who or if anyone is watching...
The way DMO set the tone in San Fran I had a good feeling we were getting 1st Packers game 2.0 with 25+ carries.

My favorite free agency move we’ve made so far. This guy was by far my favorite running back in his draft coming out of Iowa State.
I wanted him bad and I was sad when the Bears got him. I felt like they would waste him which is exactly what happened. So happy he got a chance to get out of there and show what he can really do and I’m very happy it’s with us.
I think if he got put in a better situation out of the gate he’d be looked at as maybe a top five running back in the league the past few years, if not that then top 10 for sure. Guy is a very, very, very good running back. He’s definitely my favorite style of RB.
Monty is a BEAST!! He’s my fav between him, Gibbs & St Brown we coming back next season!

Very underrated player. Runs like a tank , quite fast and very powerful. Him and Gibbs is a fearful duo for sure

Montgomery is Holmes best FA signing. Him and Gibbs are going to terrorize the league at least for next 2 years. Love this guys heart and skills.

I was concerned about letting Williams go, but then saw this dude was getting nearly 4YPC with the Bears. We needed a consistent bruiser that’ll work for the yards but also had that swift finesse as well.
I was also concerned about losing Williams last year (especially considering all of the TDs) but as always BH knee what he was doing.
Montgomery has proven to be a beast plus he can break the big TD and have long runs as well!

Man watching this makes me realize how much of an improvement he was over Jamaal. I loved the character that was Jamaal Williams but Montgomery is just the better player.

I like Craig Reynolds, but I'd like to see us take a chance late in the draft on a big running back who has some speed too. One who we can move around to fullback, and RB. That way if or when Gibbs or Montgomery get hurt, we have some youth who might pop off. Teach them to catch out of the backfield so he can block, catch bail out throws, and pound the ball when neccesary. And at worst, they play special teams.

Bro I still hate it to this day. I've been a Bears fan for roughly 30 years of my life and he's the one player I hate them letting go of the most. I mean like clear as day, how, why would they let that happen.
If I had to take a wild guess, just pure speculation, I'd say "attitude". Attitude as in maybe Montgomery was complaining that he didn't feel like the team and/or organization wasn't doing enough to win so they just said he can test the market after his contract.
It's the only way I can't wrap my head around them letting him go. It certainly wasn't because of production.
And then I also remember when he signed with DET he said something along the lines of "I'm glad to be with people who want to win".
If what I'm saying is true it kind of all makes sense now, and I'm kind of pissed.
For his YPC in CHI there are many little 2-4 yards runs where Montgomery was seeing first contact way too early even behind LOS, and makes the first guy miss. Those runs aren't on highlight reels because they're not as "sexy" as longer runs.
And all the fans were upset letting Jamaal Williams walk. I said it before the season started Montgomery was an upgrade
anyone criticizing DC going for 4th and 2 in NFC champ game forgets how we won games like the chargers game. running up the middle on 4th and 5. Even romo was said: no one does that.

Oh yeah - that offensive line was mauling people all season but they had some juice early in the year.

He’s definitely RB1 again with Gibbs hurting his hamstring just like last season. I would not rush Gibbs back. It’s a LONG season. You can’t replace Gibbs’ explosiveness but Monty is awesome. Detroit is blessed to have two starting RB’s.
If he stays he could beat Hanson(kicker) for most points scored by a Lion …..
