This is very different than anything else she's done. And according to her, there will be no more like this on the new album. This is her playful side. The message of the song is very important though. No one needs a cure for who they are. It was sparked when she found out conversion therapy for Gay people is still allowed. And since Aurora is Bisexual, she is part of the community. And since she gets shit for being a bit strange, this is her way of saying "I don't care if you don't like that I'm different" If you notice, she included all of her so called ticks in this video (Wide eyes, shaking her head, and her unusual movements) This girl is always 100% authentic and does not give a damn what people think of her. And this song has that message for all of us. If someone does not like you for who you are, then it's time for them to go away. The Warriors & Weirdos love her for this very reason. She is unique and marches to her own beat. She had fun with this video and let out her playful side. You won't hear another song like this from her, at least not for now. You definitely cannot put this young lady in a box. She has so many different sounds in her songs and yes, deals with many hard subjects.

The other commentators point out quite a bit about the song's message. I'll just add that AURORA had the set for the video designed to re-create a set from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and her dance mixes 1920's sensibilities with Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter dance from the film. She actually has a very entertaining Dance Tutorial for the song that can be seen on TH-cam. She also hand-painted all of the fellini-esque masks used in the video.

What I love about Aurora is her songwriting ability to tackle so many topics that other artists don’t go near,as a songwriter she is a Genius you never get the same old cliches in her lyrics like you hear in 90% of mainstream songs that churn out the same old lines time after time, you can see why in her childhood she liked to listen to Bob Dylan and Lenard Cohan both great wordsmiths in the art of writing, yes for me Aurora is special songwriters like her do not come along that often she is a breath of fresh air and can’t wait for her next album.🍎🎭❤️🎭🍎❤️

I highly recommend reacting to more live performances by AURORA -- anything from the iconic Nidarosdomen concert (in a cathedral with pipe organ, orchestral ensemble, and choir), and certainly her incredible performance of ALL IS SOFT INSIDE and CHURCHYARD from the 2018 KEXP concert; And also INFECTIONS OF A DIFFERENT KIND from her forest concert (HAIK 2019); and her rocked up performance of RUNNING WITH THE WOLVES from the 2020 lockdown concert: the Somewhere Else event! To name a few.

Yes it is much different then usual Aurora (at last previous but I guess future too). I need to use to it a little but I like it very much (i liked it more and more with each listen). There are also a acoustic version. Anyway I also like the fact she experiment with different sounds or styles. Another such example of "not typical Aurora" from the past were are Apple Tree or Exist for Love.
Thank you for another Aurora reaction. From time I discovered her music earlier this year I am very fascinated and it is always nice for me to see another reaction for her songs:).

You are probably spot on about the forbidden fruit. The inspiration of writing the song is her discovering that "conversion therapy camps" are still legal in many countries. Basically camps where you are supposed to be "cured" from being gay, lesbian you name it. As a bisexual, i guess she feels she needs no cure. But as always wants people to find their own personal meaning to the song, not just what inspired her to write it. Other things she pointed out in Norwegian interviews is not being afraid to just be who you are. If you are a little different thats fine, but that has been her message for a long time. I guess her most vocal example of that was Queendom 3 years ago.
She wanted to perform the song more like a pop song, despite the dark meaning behind writing the song, to hope that the most amount of people get to hear it, and hopefully reach people who need it.

    Album Discography:
Greeting my Demons as a friend
    Infections of a different kind
    A Different kind of human
    Just to start
But live performances I recommend the HAIK concert (2019) that has a selection of songs across these 3 albums. And there’s more beyond all that.

    Hi Friends 😁
Here is a long text coming to you. 😁
Aurora said the song does not represent the album. It is quite separate, but it joins the story of the whole album. Aurora herself finds the dance quite ugly in a beautiful way. 😁
The song in general goes against institutes that offer a so-called cure for homosexuality/bisexuality. In doing so, she is directly affects the topic.
And of course it should increase self-confidence and self-esteem for everyone who needs it.
I think that she's also pointing the (middle)finger at her critics and against people who call others crazy or creepy or laugh at them just because they dress differently, have ticks or otherwise fall out of the norm.
All movements that are otherwise involuntary with her, she makes here with full intention.
Her wide open eyes, her hand movements, Shaking her head and her involuntary twitches. Everything is clearly highlighted with the camera in various separate settings. That didn't have to be so it was intentional.
    "I don't need a cure for me"
Furthermore, Aurora is the only one without a mask. She is the one who shows her true self and does not hide. Everyone else wears one and seems to bury Aurora in the sequence in which she looks almost panicked into the camera. Which for me is an indication of bullying.
She painted the masks herself and her sister made her outfit. It should also create a bridge to "Exist for love".
I think the "Exist for love" reference at the very beginning (Aurora in the Crystal Ball on the Shell) had its reason. The song was also criticized. That wouldn't be Aurora and why is she singing such a song? Why only love between man and woman? And so on. The usual stupid talk.
The apple is from the Garden of Eden (the forbidden fruit and sin) and Aurora likes to bite in.😁. Which brings us to the Christian faith and its views on what love between two people should look like.
In addition, the apple could also be a reference to the sentence she once said in an interview. Why can't there be a wish inside an apple? Anything is possible if you believe in it. 😁
And by the way, the video is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The dance in corus and the visual. The sound in the chorus seems to be inspired by old video games. Aurora released a mini game shortly before, which also included exactly this sound.
In general, there are many special details in the video that have meaning. The black and white floor on which she dances or the glued 7 and 9 angular stars in her face and on the floor.
    7-star:
7 is a divine number and stands for the 7 chakras, 7 days or 7 sacraments etc. It also symbolizes perfection and connects spirit and matter in the universe. The seven star, also known as the heptagram, contains ancient knowledge and is considered a powerful protective symbol of the natural religions. People with the number 7 have a seventh sense and are farsighted and open to everything new.
Or Aurora watched too much Game of Thrones. What she actually does. Then another explanation would be possible. 😁
    9-star:
The 9 gives us access to our inner and higher wisdom. The number nine symbolizes the power of creation, bliss and knowledge. In Buddhism, the nine is the highest spiritual power and the associated symbol is the nine star (enneagram), which is composed of a circle and triangles. People with the number 9 are warm, intelligent, wise counselors, and good listeners.
A nine-pointed star also stands for perfection
    All features apply to Aurora

It's great to know that Aurora still has a hand in making the props and her sister also.
There are so many point that you reference that are way above our pay grade.
The black and white floor, I don't think I even noticed it.

She has said before that she finds it so strange and terrible that some people are made to feel like something is "wrong" with them because of who they are or because of who they love. Combined with the horrifying fact that barbaric 'conversion therapies' for gay people are still forced onto people all around the world, and that she herself has had both male and female loves in the past, she is saying "I don't need your cure. I'm fine with who I am."
She could easily have written a classic Aurora soaring ballad about the hate and hardship, but I believe the song itself was written as an uplifting dance number, in order to allow her fans who find themselves needing this message, the opportunity to experience it as a celebratory anthem that they can dance and sing along to. Then it becomes both a celebration of yourself and a protest at the same time.

No its not. The roots of this songs main theme can be found in the theme song to the movie Brazil, 1985 which was inspired by the song Brazil By Geoff & Maria Muldaur, which was in turn inspired by the original production, Aquarela do Brasil by Ary Barroso, 1939.
