I think it's important to note that when using cement board as an underlayment, you should use modified mortar. The only reason to use unmodified in this case is because the Schluter Ditra system requires it.
I like to put ceramic tiles in my bathroom and replace the bathtub with a same size shower tub . what do I do first? rip the old tub out put the tiles down tile also under the new tub? or don't I have to tile under the shower tub? should I remove also all
Hi, sasha. You may want to watch the entire "Remodel Your Bath in Stages" playlist to get the order of the projects. You'll find it here: th-cam.com/play/PLXRbmDDj3R97qPRIYLH_5exNarcxDEMsR.html Thanks for watching.
Bryce Peters that’s because he’s too chipper and pleased with his work. I said more bad words this week while tiling my floor than I’ve said in my entire life. Trust me when I say I am NOT chipper 🤣🤣🤣
Kayleeandshelly you can find a tools and materials list as well as step by step instructions here: www.lowes.com/projects/build-and-remodel/install-floor-tile/project. Thanks for watching our video.
We'd recommend removing the existing vinyl, then installing an underlayment: www.lowes.com/pd/Schluter-Systems-Tile-Membrane/3580144 This video walks you through that process: th-cam.com/video/EuSav7p3xPY/w-d-xo.html Good luck, Charles!
RLSgardener shower floor bit different; depends on what you had before (replacing tub with shower or new tile floor in existing shower). Take a look at this for some additional information: How To Prep and Tile a Shower You may want to stop by you nearest Lowe's and discuss your specific project with them. Thanks for watching our TH-cam channel.
Thanks, I watched that one. You guys dont have a video on doing a tile shower base? That would be a good video =) None the less that orange material is not for a tile shower base but for general bathroom tile floor? I will be tiling over concrete slab. and the bathroom has an existing fiber shower pan that i want to replace with a tile base.
RLSgardener You're right about the orange material...check out tile-ready shower bases instead. They give a sturdy, waterproof structure for the tile and eliminate the issues you'd have if you tried tiling over a regular shower base (flexing, rounded corners, drain height, tile adhesion, etc). Thanks for the tip about the tile shower base video, too :) Here's an article that may help in the meantime: www.lowes.com/projects/build-and-remodel/install-a-shower-floor/project
Tile layout is not optimum. Should not have two thin strips of tile on each edge. To correct this from happening, the "center" reference line should be shifted by the distance of 1/2 tile width before starting to lay tile
That's the preferable option if you can wait, but not a mandatory. Grout sealer is applied largely for aesthetic reasons (protection against stains), so it's not the end of the world if you leave the hidden under-toilet area unsealed.
+Lowe's Home Improvement If you only have one bathroom, waiting 3 weeks would be too inconvenient. I guess you would have to go out and get a portable toilet. Terri Johnson
l knew something was up when me and my wife hired an individual contractor to tile our bathroom, the job is done but not how you demonstrated how it should be done.
+Nathaniel G it's more about finding the center of the room. Check out our prep for tile video for details th-cam.com/video/EuSav7p3xPY/w-d-xo.html. At about 4:10 he covers how to measure and mark. Thanks for watching our video.
I'm learning how to flip my house just by watching these Lowe's videos. This is suuuuuuuper helpful guys, thank you!!!!!!
This was informative and satisfying to watch.

Great refresher before I retile my kitchen,
Thanks guys!
What kind of thinset did u use?? How did secure the underlay to subfloor??
this guy went from blue's clue's to fixing up homes.
Lol
U a cutie

It would be nice if you carried schluter in the stores since you have it in all of your videos.
They sell it at Home Depot ironically

dont need backer board under tile?
This guy gives me goosebumps when he talks. I dont know why.
Bryce Peters that’s because he’s too chipper and pleased with his work. I said more bad words this week while tiling my floor than I’ve said in my entire life. Trust me when I say I am NOT chipper 🤣🤣🤣
Can you install a heated floor element over the orage roll or under it?
There is a different type of underlayment by Ditra that is specifically used for floor heating.
Mr. Fancy with your heated floors
What was the size of the tile you used, was it 12 by 12 or 13 by something, because they look pretty big
The orange mat seen in this video is called Schluter Ditra and is installed over the subfloor using modified thinset.
Tell us in the description what we might need like til and blah ok bc I need to know wat to buy

what if i have vinyl flooring, what goes down before the tile?

Man u don't need to use the underlayment...totally unnecessary...just apply thinset to your slab and start tiling
beautiful job... thank you very much... nice
Is that orange material a water proof membrane ? IE what to use if tile a shower floor?

Norm and why do you think this Norm maybe that's just the way the customer wanted it either way you're using the same amount of material and
nice job
Its sounded like he said just wipe with a damn sponge... 1:37
Thank you for this video
Painting to top of the wall
Love it
What is special about Grout?
where do you crap if this takes a few days to do?
sporter470. You only have one toilet in the house???
If a Pooh Bear shits in the wood because he tiled his bathroom and only has one crapper and nobody is around, does it still stink?
Ask Tub Girl ...
john collins I only have one. Lots of people only have one. Especially in older homes.
Shaking the Bush, Boss, Shaken the bush!
The way we do our tiles installation here in Nigeria is quite different
Its different in America too. This video is garbage
Is there anyone knows who is this guy?
nice
That tile looks exactly like mine, my house was never renovated when I moved.
I know where the guy from blues clues went for a job interview 😂
My guy didn’t change his clothes for 72 hours 0_0
You have to wait 3 weeks before putting the toilet back on?? That seem a little long.

Step 2 pay someone to do it

He looks like Steve from Blue's Clues.
Toast Guy lol. True
Toast Guy true
I am trying to watch this, and now its all I see. I keep expecting the shower faucets to talk, and a blue pawprint to be somewhere implausible.
no idea
Is he an actor?
Tree lopping
Great Video! I love the previous comment btw. :) This would be easier with a template tool.
Emmy Braxtly
My bathroom floor s cracked 3 times. At last one guy fixed it right.
Underpayment serves no purpose accept to make yo spend more money and time.
Luba Luba until you decide to change tile or flooring. Let’s see you pull that off the subfloor.
nice
