Steven, I have seen what you said on twitter and it's understandable that you skipped Both Ways bc of everything you heard about that song. I think you should know that this song was written by a bisexual woman from her own experience. That's why Liam thought people would be okay with it, because he would never write something like that on his own when he's aware that people could be offended by it. It wasn't received well and it almost ruined his career, even tho he didn't write it. People were sending him death threats, destroyed him on his debut album release day, and thought that it was ok what they were doing to him. Thank you for giving Liam much deserved appreciation. He deserves some love after all that.
@@user-nw2io4ui1n Exactly. People heard the song and didn't even want to look at its background. Liam and the writers all publicly apologized but it still wasn't enough. I just remember crying on twitter that day because I was just thinking how can they write all of that about Liam, and ruin his album release day which a lot of us were waiting for. The death threats were the last straw for me. I was like, how can you wish someone death over the damn song.
@@aistenaktinyte4372 He actually liked it because I wrote the comment very early and he always notices the early ones. He unliked it and I'm not sure why. Probably so people wouldn't think that he's discrediting the people who were offended by the song.
Liam had NO promo for this album at all. This still make the fans mad because it's not fair, this album has some amazing songs that could be on the radio 24/7 and they're not
Ummm he had plenty of promo for the album, he promoted it on multiple TV shows, got a billboard in Times square and promoted it plenty of times on social media, some of his features shared it as well. Don't blame the record label just cuz it didn't do good, I'd say the main reason it flopped was because he didn't have a recent hit single to hype up the album and that huge misunderstanding about the song Both Ways and everyone tried to cancel him cuz of it as soon as it dropped. Just got unlucky, not the labels fault
Liam promoted his singles in 2017 and 2018, but he didn’t promote his ‘First Time EP’ or his album. The album wasn’t bad. Some people didn’t like it and had negative interpretations about some of the songs. But I get people not liking LP1, because we all have our preferences. But despite mixed reviews and an awful album debut, LP1 alone has achieved over 2.1B streams, plus as of Oct 2020 LP1 alone has had 3M global sales. So there are people who love the album and didn’t pander to the critics or the negativity and hate trends.
My heart literally aches for Liam - They really did him dirty with this album. He has always been kind-hearted and from what he's shown us of his personality, he wouldn't do something to offend anyone. He got hate because of the song 'Both Ways' and he made a comment about Harry (which some people took completely out of context). I heard he was really depressed from the hate so much so, his sister had to come on twitter and ask everyone to stop ❤ Thank you for showing him love, Steven.
The guy talks too quickly for his thoughts sometimes but has a biggest heart. I hope it's all over by now cuz when I joined 1D universe all seemed pretty calm and friendly up till I went to read comments under this video. I'm really glad I missed it tbh.
Midnight was actually released after. And it's a song by the DJ Alesso which Liam did the vocals of. So that's why it says "feat. Liam Payne" cause technically Alesso owns the song
Liam’s a star 💫. Not sure why people who don’t like his music feel the need to watch his music reviews, so they can leave negative comments!?! What a counterproductive use of their time😄.
Asma s If you read my comment, I never said you hate him though. Negative comments are not necessarily hate. But if you can’t get behind the album, why are you watching a reaction about it?🤔
Some toxics are so scared of Liam succeeding, because they think it’ll have an effect on someone else’s success. Which is a ridiculous notion🤨! Personally I love this album and Liam, so I’m glad it’s achieved over 2 billion streams.
he said in an interview after the release that he'd just allowed himself to get a little too influenced musically by what his label recommended and if you check he barely got any writing in for this album so according to him he couldve done a lot better but i still find it a masterpiece tbh i could vibe to it all day
It’s weird that in One Direction he and Louis ended up writing most of the songs on the last 3 albums, but he has barely any writings credits on his debut when he has shown that he is fully capable of writing an album. The label tried to JT him, but he wasn’t meant to be JTed
@@iPhoneHelper1999 but he also said that Louis was writing the most and he helped more with the melody, not the text. But I'm sure he has also good writing skills, he didn't really seem happy with the album and barely talked about it 🙈
@@_lilly347 no ugly ass he never said that, he said that he's more into melody ONCE and million of times has said what yall twisted his words, being into both melody and lyrics doesn't mean he didn't write most of the song lyrics because he did, stop discrediting him because yall waited a whole life to do that
@@ftdrhtyjhseh yh we all know that but theres literally no reason to get abusive about this, do you think insulting strangers on the internet is gonna help get your point across better?
I’m vibin to LP1 all day long. I love Liam’s voice, so I listen to him if he sang the alphabet. In 1D Liam and Louis wrote most of the latter albums, I personally do not care whether it was lyrics, melodies or both. They’re both talented.
weekend is a very personal song for him, when the guys were in 1d they suffered a lot and liam was one of the most suffered and this song is about his suicidals thoughts
Midnight is a little different of the rest of the album, it was made during quarantine and and added to the digital version of the album later, it was not originally in lp1
I was scared to watch this because so many people hate on him for no reason he is such a sweetheart and supportive but people just don’t even give him a try. His team didn’t promote his album and he didn’t even write most of it , they even deleted the tracks from his TH-cam causing them to lose his views but seeing you actually enjoy and like his music makes me so happy. He is very slept on and I just love how supporting you are not just of him but all of the boys.Hands down one of my favorite reactors
Watching someone appreciate Liam. Thank you As others have said so well, Liam was never given a fair go with this album. He's always been an easy target unfortunately particularly in comparison with others. Liam said from the start of talking of an album in 2017 that he wanted a playlist vibe like 8701 which is one of his fav albums so I think that's reflected in the variation of the music. I'm not 100 per cent convinced the album was what he would have truly wanted released (for the songs on it and some of the bonus tracks on other editions are the strongest songs) but I think it's totally underrated and unfairly criticized/attacked.
I have never clicked so fast on a video before. The only complaint I had with this is that Liam didn't write a lot of this but I really really like this album
Great review love it as usual. Liam’s album was sabotaged by a lack of promotion, angry people who hated him for not being born Harry Styles and 1 lyric. People systematically came together and tried to ruin his career for the pure fun of it. Gotta love cancel culture. They claimed Both Ways was sooooooooooooo offensive as if they don’t listen to way worse lyrics from other artist on a daily basis. They couldn’t handle the idea of three consenting adults getting together to have a good time. Anyone who truly listens to this album would understand that it’s actually a masterpiece. Glad you gave this a chance Liam deserves so much more than he gets.
A Adam First I never said that Liam’s album wasn’t promoted at all, it just wasn’t promoted to its full potential. Secondly People canceled the album because of the Both Ways controversy. Which would be the reason why the promotion would stop. Third, No one is putting down Harry styles. True facts are just being stated, Sorry but not sorry if that hurts your sensitivities. There is a huge bias between Harry Styles and Liam Payne. True fans of them know that both of them came from the same band and have the same amount of talent. They both deserve the same amount of love and respect. At this point if people can’t see the biases they are choosing to be ignorant. Harry himself respects all of his band mates, it’s sad that some people don’t follow his lead.
A Adam The reason why the comment about Harry has been made is because the misinformation and misinterpretations stemmed from questions Liam was asked about Harry. Additionally, if you read most comment sections on 1D solo career related video clips, quite a few fans say they do not like Liam’s style of music and that he should have written his own songs in the same way that Harry did. So this comment is not to throw shade at Harry, in fact I like quite a lot of Harry’s songs. But this is just acknowledging the comparisons being made, which are quite unfair, because Liam is his own person. So why do some fans want him to do what Harry’s doing song-wise 🤨
A Adam By the way, the whole of 2018 and 2019, the British press especially and click bait news channels put out such negative and hateful press about Liam. Yes, his album had mixed reviews and ‘both ways’ was problematic during the launch of the album, but soo many seeds of misinformation, and misinterpretations had already been sown prior to the release of his album. This is really what affected sales, because as most people who didn’t listen to the album like Steven are now saying, they stayed away from the album due to the controversy. Nevertheless, I love LP1 and despite the mixed reviews it’s had over 2 billion streams, so I’d say it’s doing great and that’s what matters.
Everyone's slept on LP1. I'm glad you've enjoyed it as have I. He's so talented with shitty promotion. His album could've done so much better. It's so much good work combine. LIAM PAYNE DESERVES BETTER
Most of the songs with featured artists were singles. Maybe one of the factors why it's streamed more. But, the reason the album tracks didn't really do as good as the singles was because of the hate LP1 got. I know the Both Ways situation was messy but to discredit the whole album because of one song (which is written by a bisexual woman) is annoying. Many people even hate on Liam without even knowing the reason why some people were offended by him at the very first place. Some just jumped into hating him because it was a trend. It's sad. Anyway, sorry for the rant. The reaction was phenomenal. Thanks, Steven. ❤️
@@TYGVlogger Some people just want to hurt others, especially if that person is someone like Liam who is always kind and gentlemanly. And others followed them blindly and very foolishly without thinking about the consequences of their actions and their negative effects on Liam.
LP1, was not successful, because it took more than 2 years to come out of Strip that down. Furthermore, his promotion team mismanaged and Liam stopped promoting. This album is hated by fans who were expecting an album like 1d. I loved your reaction and Weekend is my favorite too.
I'm so glad that you enjoyed this album. His team and everyone else did him and this album so dirty. This album is an absolute banger and I'm happy that he is finally get what deserves. Yes this isn't what everyone expected coming into this album. But he fit so perfectly eoth the sound he did, and I'm excited to see what he has in store for us next.
I can´t understand when people say that album is trash, bc I don´t see that at all. In my opinion there´s not ONE skip in it. Liam deserves way more recognisation, he´s an incredible singer and an amazing person as well, such a lovely lad. He deserves all the love in the world!!
exactly! very well said. the song i least liked in comparison with the other songs was rude hours, but i still really liked how catchy it was and the bass was amazing. that just says how good the songs on the album are, the least favourite is still a bop.
you have to react to his EP and the album's bonus tracks (hurting me, before it ends, nobody else, down, trouble) and he singing live is the same as studio version
I joined the directioner fandom early 2020 via Harry, but I had heard some of their popular singles when they came out. So with Liam I had heard all of his singles aside from ‘live forever’. But because I listened to the solo albums of all the guys before learning about their unique contributions to one direction, I don’t have the same expectations that OG directioners had in respect of Liam’s chosen genre. Needless to say, LP1 quickly became my favourite album. I have eclectic taste in music and (personally) I tend not to allow music critics to dictate what I should listen to, so the negative opinions on this album went right over my head. Once I had binged on one direction live performances, as well as the albums, I discovered that Liam’s considered to be an A rated vocalist, that he had co-written 33 one direction songs and has producer credits on MITAM. All of which just made me feel that Liam is crazy talented, has insane potential and hasn’t truly shown the full range of his talents in music yet. So I’m looking forward to what his second album brings 💜. Great honest reaction, thank you ❤️
liam is a really talented singer and a really kind soul, i love his funny dorky personality and his voice is incredible, and it just makes me very sad that people have so thoroughly villianized him and bullied him. hes always been the most supportive of the other boys and been the kindest to fans and always given us the most content. this album was strange because he was supposedly working on it for so long and kept on delaying it and removing songs and adding them and it just seemed at times that he didnt want to release it, like he was just doing it because its what his label wanted. he's also said that that style wasnt his favorite and he wanted to branch out into other stuff but it never happened. the First Time EP came out before this album and it was GOOD, but it was never promoted. and then this album was released and i actually loved it so much, but it was again, never promoted. he never announced a tour, he doesnt have merch, and he barely did any interviews for it. i dont know what the situation was but it felt like it was bad, like liam was having lots of trouble with his label and/or doing stuff he didnt want to do. he was also doing so many of these weird one off small music festivals where he just sang the same five songs over and over, while he had way better songs that hes never performed live, which is so devastating because hes SUCH a talented artist and he deserves more love.
Nina Tabatchnick Yeah you’re right. I had s feeling something wasn’t right... he still hasn’t sung any of the Japan LP1 bonus tracks live, those songs are great. I really don’t know what to think, but I love LP1 and I love Liam. He’s a star 💫
liam deserves so much better from literally everyone. not to name names, but certain fans started a trend of leaving bad reviews on his music before it was even released because people have always had something against him. in terms of the actual album... it essentially had zero promo for several reasons but liam did say that this isn't really what he wanted to do. a lot of the album is just what other people wanted from him and he let himself get swayed. he has very few writing credits - even in one direction, he said he was more of the melodies person. people ripped into him for the biphobia in "both ways" even though he didn't write the song - but he did apologize for it. put out a statement explaining that the album was sort of just a contractual obligation and he said his future projects will sound different so i'm excited to see what he does, even tho a lot of this album is... not bad at all. so many great songs on this project already . but check out his First Time ep! masterpiece
Steven, all of Liam's non collab songs were released in the album, and they did not receive the proper promo, plus all of the negativity regarding both ways led to most ppl disregarding the album as a whole. His collab songs were released within a time span of 2 years, so they have more streams..all except midnight, which released in April this year and was added to the album later
I have been waiting for this reaction for a while. Liam actually wanted to make a kind of playlist with his album (he said it in interviews), that is why there are different styles and collaboration with many artists and producers. There was a promotion problem for sure. Also, his collaborations came out before the album (they were singles) and his “solo” songs came out with the album. I think that’s why the solo songs don’t have a lot of plays, some people didn’t give the album a chance. They got influenced by other people’s opinions, which is a shame. Also, you should react to his EP.
Liam’s album came out December 6, 2019, so it was just before Christmas. You should check out Both Ways. I don’t think it fetishized anything at all. It was a good song.
Liam’s so talented. I love LP1, my favourites are ‘remember’, ‘weekend’, ‘get low’, ‘for you’ and ‘all I want. Sometimes STD too. But something seems different with Liam this Christmas. He’s been talking about taking time out to write his next album. He said he hasn’t written anything since his 1D days. I get the sense (its a feeling) that something great’s gonna happen in the LP2 era and I’m so here for it.
I don’t get why people think Both Ways fetishises bisexual women? It doesn’t, it’s just a song about his experience with a bisexual woman. He doesn’t say all bisexual people have threesomes or anything like that.
Kristina 0300 because he sung it? He shouldnt of sung a song about a bisexual woman because he isnt one, it made me uncomfortable because my sexuality isnt something for men to find sexy if that makes sense? I still really like liams album though i just think he shouldnt have put both ways on it
Hannah Emmison What sort of nonsensical reason is this? So if no one is allowed to talk or sing about anything except what they are they wouldn’t be able to make songs about almost anything? There’s a thing called free speech and Liam has every right to sing about HIS experiences with people, and that includes bisexual women he’s had sex with.
quasitigre Exactly. If Harry had made this exact song I guarantee he wouldn’t have received even half the amount of hate that Liam did. I despair for this generation, where everyone is just desperate to be offended by anything. Honestly so pathetic.
If you look into why it wasn’t successful, you’ll find that he didn’t get any good promo and he even had a hate campaign against him. It was awful everyone was being so evil to him and he didn’t get any support. But yes I am excited for his next release.
quasitigre I’m with you, I love Liam. But even now months after the unsuccessful attempt at derailing his career, the haters are here in this comments section staying pressed. I’d like to say to them that those of us who love Liam, as well as Steven thank them for their view, but it’s time for them to make better use of their time and exit🤨. Honestly 😀🤦♀️
I only have checked Harry's album, but after watching this video I'm going to listen this whole album. Really enjoyed what I heard here. So thanks for this review.
Liam is honestly so underrated most of the one direction boys they all have such nice voices together and separate and they should get recognition for that instead of been known as being out of the biggest big band in the world ❤️
As a Liam stan, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to listen to the entire album. I also wanna thank you for being fair with your review/reaction. You should check out his EP tracks too.
Yesss! This is what i was waiting for.. thank you for doing this and sharing with us.. Liam is really a great artist with woderful vocal and songs he really deserve better and i know he will get what he deserve one day Lp1 is amazing and weekend is my favorite song too At end please stream Lp1!!
I've been a stan for almost 10 years both of one direction and specially of liam payne. His vocals in live shows and concerts is unmatched. Most people often make presumptions based on what media or some people say to them without even giving it a listen. LP1 is literally a banger. Not to forget, Liam is the kindest person ever. Like recently for his virtual concert he donated the money raised to charity and is again going to do so on his bday by doing another virtual concert. On his freaking bday !!! Like who does that. Yesssss thank you for doing this !!!! 💛💛💛💛💛😊
Steven thank you so much for this reaction! All the songs which got so many streams are singles, and most of them came out before the album (2017 Strip That Down - 2019 Stack It Up & Live Forever) and they were mostly promoted. Midnight was released in 2020 but they decided to add the track after the physical album was released. As for the non-singles, you have to know that the album got little to NO PROMO at all, and people really didn’t listen to it because of it. Also, he released 3 versions of LP1: the normal one (which is the one you listened to minus Midnight), the Target edition (where you can find 2 bonus tracks called Before It Ends & Hurting Me) and the Japanese edition (where you can find other 3 bonus tracks: Down, Trouble & Nobody Else). I really suggest you to listen and react to these tracks. So beautifully and well written (most of them by Liam!) I really loved this reaction so please, if you can, react to his EP, it’s called First Time EP and you’ll find 4 beautiful songs.
thank you so much for saying all these good things about him. he’s gotten so much hate and it really messed with his mental health. i love this album, and liam has helped me through so much, he really does deserve better. ❤️
The way I see it, Liam is the King of singing together with others and bringing out the best in them. He was the glue that stuck the 1D voices together....like, when you listen to 1D and no voice jumps out at you - it just sounds like 1D perfection in general - that's Liam.
He that in 1D. But he’s had collaborations on his album, not co-sings. The only two songs that he sings with others are ‘polaroid’ and ‘for you’, three singles have featured raps and that’s it. So I don’t think his strength is necessarily singing with others. Bedroom floor is one of my favourites and he didn’t sing that with anyone. In fact his stage presence during the live performances of ‘bedroom floor’ is so incredible. I actually prefer his voice and performances when he’s on his own.
His album is actually amazing and it's such a shame the fact that people literally ruined it and wanted to ruin his reputation and career because everyone followed the hate train in December and it hasn't stopped since then. His vocals are so good and most of his songs are pure bangers. Thank you for giving him a chance and not jumping on the bandwagon because it's trendy. People sabotaged this album as well as his reputation (not to mention he got 0 promo and a hate campaign all over social media) but I truly believe he's gonna stay and prove everyone wrong. Time heals everything and good karma will come eventually ❤️ I really enjoyed this video, thank you!
Inma S I agree. Liam didn’t cower in a corner over the hate. He’s still out there being literally sunshine and light through this whole quarantine period. I honestly couldn’t love him more. He’s a star 💫
Thank you so much for your honest reaction. People hate on him because apparently it’s a trend. The album deserved so much better and way more promotion
I'm laughing my heart out because I just remembered last year Liam came to Brazil to play in a county festival (?) and I cried a LOT during all those upbeat songs (WHAT A BREAKDOWN) damn I love him
I love that you finally looked at Liam’s album and gave it a fair shot xx You are literally one of my favourite reactors and I am so happy this dropped the day after my birthday 😂💕 Keep being you Steven, you’re honestly one of the greatest people on TH-cam - rock on!! PS You need to check out his First Time EP - such a good quartet of songs xx PPS Unfortunately tracks 11-16 were released between 2017-2019 which is why they have more streams in comparison to his solo work (which is ridiculous); Liam really deserved so much better with this album
Liam has song writing credits on the following Tracks; LP1: Strip that down (co-write) Weekend Say it all Both Ways LP1 Bonus & Target Tracks: Before it ends Trouble Nobody Else Hurting me Admittedly, it’s a far cry from his one direction 32 / 33 song writing credits and MITAM producer credits. But he did mention that he had writers block when Bear was born, so that might have something to do with it.
I've been waiting for this reaction as I wanted to see if you could have an unbiased opinion of this album. I was a little worried when you talked about the comments you saw on Twitter and how you let them sway you but I'm glad to see you didn't let me down! You really seemed to enjoy about 85-90% of this album Steve and I'm so happy you did! This album was absolutely trashed by both a large portion of the audience and critics in very cruel ways when it came out in December 2019. I am still to this day completely baffled and confused by the reactions/reviews it received. I have my theory about why it didn't do well and it involves a heavy hate campaign raged against Liam that I believe started when he was in the band. I understand everyone has different taste in music and not all the songs on this album are top notch but I personally really like this album a lot! Like you kept saying it has a lot of substance and shows off how tremendously versatile his vocals are. He can really mold into a lot of different genres. So far his music is similar in ways to 1D's music so it's been sad and shameful to see people put hate and bias before enjoying some good fun music. I'm very proud of Liam for keeping his head held high, overcoming the relentless hate and criticism he had slung at him from every direction and keeps working hard and producing great music! I do hope he keeps going in the future and he doesn't let the negativity bring him down. That would be a very unfortunate loss of a beautiful talent. Thanks for giving him the appreciation he so deserves!
PD * I agree. Liam didn’t cower in a corner over the hate. He’s still out there being literally sunshine and light through this whole quarantine period. I honestly couldn’t love him more. He’s a star 💫
@@FifthFallsbyEddie I'm not invalidating your opinion of the song, but just giving my opinion. And actually, that song was written by a woman, just to be clear.
Liam said the weekend was a personal song when she composed it, she was not feeling well, she even had suicidal thoughts, but now she has gone through it.
I loved this so much. Liam is so talented and he doesn't get enough credit. You should check out one of the LP Shows he's been doing! He's an incredible performer and he wounds amazing!! (Also, Weekend is my FAVORITE song - my newest tattoo is based on that song
I'm so happy that you made this video, I waited so long for it. I'm a fan of all the boys from one direction and I'm really sorry that this injustice happened to Liam, he deserved a lot more because he's so fucking talented. what made me very angry was the bad marketing of his team, in fact, he had zero marketing. thanks for giving this chance to Liam's album, many people don’t give it because it wasn’t so popular, which is sad. (my favorite song on the album is also weekend) ❤
seriously, you need to react to Depend On It, Which in my opinion is Liam's best song. Music that he delivers a wonderful vocal, and a very sincere lyrics about relationship. It's my favorite song of his. And I loved your video. ❤️
When you said you thought Strip that Down was Ed sheeran's I just remembered recently Liam told in a video that his son was jamming to an Ed song and thought it was his dad, I thought it was so cute
LP1 didn't do very well because of the controversy over Both Ways. He wasn't sexualizing bisexuality but people got way too sensitive the first day it came out and it had devastating results for the whole album. Both Ways is actually a really good song and is a song of acceptance and empowerment toward others. All of this because he made that song after saying he wasn't all for Harry's style of dress. Ridiculous!
oh cut it out. both ways FETISHIZES bi women. and no one attacked him because of his dumb comments about harry, they attacked him for his bullsh*T songwriting on this album especially both ways.
Okay, then. I guess my bisexual sister who looked at all the controversy over it and has no problem with the song that also feels a sense of empowerment from it doesn't know how it 'fetishizes' her sexuality. 🙄
Also they did attack him over his comment on Harry. That is what started it. They were calling him homophobic and saying he doesn't like people that aren't straight over his comment and said that was a part of why he made a song like this. That it was just another way to disrespect the LGBT community.
@@babyclown8818 the song implies bi women exist to fulfill sexual fantasies of threesomes. and your sister might love him and not feel uncomfortable but me and several other bisexual women definitely did because the song is terribly insensitive and offensive.
@@babyclown8818 harries attacked him over his no doubt insensitive and stupid comment over harry. not to mention he's said several other nonsensical things about H. but the backlash on his release day came from everyone on stan twitter not just harries. so no, it wasn't to do with what he said about H.
Idc what that fickle fan base thinks, as someone who wasn't a 1D fan and a pop/R&B hip hop listener, this was a solid album. There was definitely some mismanagement with the project in terms of multiple delays and certain songs not being singles instead. He said this album was supposed to be more of a playlist of his favorite genres instead of a cohesive album and he did it justice. RIP Liam
some information about the album: 1 - songs with more listeners were released before the album 2- when it was about to be released, fans, especially Harry fans, started a "chain" of hatred against him and the album, which made people not hear him and just hate him 3- both ways were controversial because of this sexualization thing, it was a mistake that both Liam and the composer apologized for 4- there are 5 more songs that were left out and are bonuses in Japan (in my opinion they are the best), they are Before It Ends, Trouble, Nobody Else, Down and Hurting Me 6- his record company didn't publicize the album as it should and he ended up stopping too reacts to the album's bonus tracks and EP First Time
@@user-fe2nr8qs1c actually, it came from the harries, they were bringing a joke that Liam made about H a few years ago, around the time of the album's release, when they heard both ways, they combined that joke with the song saying that Liam hated Harry and that he is homophobic / biphobic, they started a hate tag against him and the "locals" joined the chain without even listening to this song or the others on the album
2. harry fans weren't the ones who started this "chain of hatred". he got backlash because of HIS own songs and it was everyone on twt who was calling him out. 3. both ways is problematic because it fetishizes bisexual women.
Thaay fans were rightfully upset because liam made weird jokes about the way he dresses sure, but harry fans were not the ones who started the anger about both ways. the topic of discussion regarding fetishization was published in articles and locals on twitter were upset
liam was done so dirty on this album, he felt pressured to write more songs similar to strip that down because it did so well, he barely got to write anything on it and he also said he was uncomfortable with the writers and some of the music. he got alot of hate on both ways and i feel terrible for him about it because he didnt write it and i dont think he understood how harmful it was and he has apologised for it (im not saying you have to forgive him im not bi so the song makes me a bit uncomfy im just saying he has apologised and realises he was wrong) , also he didnt have much of a chance to promote the album because of his shitty label, half of the album was his singles, and he barely had the chance to show off his vocals because he is seriously talented and unless you were a big fan of 1d you wouldnt really know, i love lp1 but i dont think it was really him and i think he deserves another try
Liam said that he's just experimenting in a lot of different styles in this album , and for the song" Both ways" he said that the opinions about the song educated him , you need to check out his EP called "first time "
Hearing all the high notes that Liam does in this album makes me think that he could have done so more in 1D, but didn’t (or maybe wasn’t allowed to) because of Zayn.
He deserves some love after all that.
exactly, it was mostly a misunderstanding but so many people decided to hate on him instead of trying to understand the whole situation.
I hope Steve will see this comment because it deserves attention
@@aistenaktinyte4372 He actually liked it because I wrote the comment very early and he always notices the early ones. He unliked it and I'm not sure why. Probably so people wouldn't think that he's discrediting the people who were offended by the song.
I actually didn’t know any of the controversy over Both Ways until after it became my favourite song of Liams so...
Liam had NO promo for this album at all. This still make the fans mad because it's not fair, this album has some amazing songs that could be on the radio 24/7 and they're not
Yeah agree 100% he definitely needs to get better representation and record label
Y e s
If I knew my album was bad I wouldn’t promote it either
STEVE 17:28 : "YALL ARE DOING LIAM DIRTY ON THIS ALBUM" !!!!SAY IT LOUDER OMG!!!!
For the people in the back.

Liam Payne" cause technically Alesso owns the song
liam deserves way better , his team did him so dirty
100% agreed!
His album full of old singles he didn’t work in his album like others do and he write only one song so i can’t relate to his album
Liam’s a star 💫. Not sure why people who don’t like his music feel the need to watch his music reviews, so they can leave negative comments!?! What a counterproductive use of their time😄.
Lux Bonny i didn’t say i don’t love him i been stanning him since the hiatus if i didn’t like the idea of his album doesn’t mean i hate him
Asma s If you read my comment, I never said you hate him though. Negative comments are not necessarily hate. But if you can’t get behind the album, why are you watching a reaction about it?🤔
Yeah, I NEVER understand why people didn't liked this album. This deserves better, Liam deserves better.
I think so it's because they merge all his previously released songs, and that's why people didn't noticed it that much
I don't understand either. I like it.

Some toxics are so scared of Liam succeeding, because they think it’ll have an effect on someone else’s success. Which is a ridiculous notion🤨! Personally I love this album and Liam, so I’m glad it’s achieved over 2 billion streams.
Liam's range is astronomical
Ale B For real. Liam’s a vocal acrobat 🔥
he said in an interview after the release that he'd just allowed himself to get a little too influenced musically by what his label recommended and if you check he barely got any writing in for this album so according to him he couldve done a lot better but i still find it a masterpiece tbh i could vibe to it all day
It’s weird that in One Direction he and Louis ended up writing most of the songs on the last 3 albums, but he has barely any writings credits on his debut when he has shown that he is fully capable of writing an album.

I love Steven because he’s giving credit to the most underrated ones and I mean Lou and Liam!
I have never clicked so fast on a video before. The only complaint I had with this is that Liam didn't write a lot of this but I really really like this album
@Marijke Damstra Yeah and also some better melodies maybe. He did a lot of melodies in one direction too. :(

You really said it like it is... love this comment. You’re so right 💜
A Adam First I never said that Liam’s album wasn’t promoted at all, it just wasn’t promoted to its full potential.
Both ways wasn’t even offensive if you read clearly the lyrics.
They didn’t get the lyrics
Everyone's slept on LP1. I'm glad you've enjoyed it as have I. He's so talented with shitty promotion. His album could've done so much better. It's so much good work combine. LIAM PAYNE DESERVES BETTER
Liam Payne is a king. Period!
Periodt😂😂
Yes
Most of the songs with featured artists were singles. Maybe one of the factors why it's streamed more. But, the reason the album tracks didn't really do as good as the singles was because of the hate LP1 got. I know the Both Ways situation was messy but to discredit the whole album because of one song (which is written by a bisexual woman) is annoying. Many people even hate on Liam without even knowing the reason why some people were offended by him at the very first place. Some just jumped into hating him because it was a trend. It's sad.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. The reaction was phenomenal. Thanks, Steven. ❤️
But you’re so right though. I couldn’t have said it better.

LP1, was not successful, because it took more than 2 years to come out of Strip that down. Furthermore, his promotion team mismanaged and Liam stopped promoting. This album is hated by fans who were expecting an album like 1d. I loved your reaction and Weekend is my favorite too.

Stan liam stan talent
Great honest reaction, thank you ❤️
I love this so much Liam deserves all the love and appreciation in this world!!
liam is a really talented singer and a really kind soul, i love his funny dorky personality and his voice is incredible, and it just makes me very sad that people have so thoroughly villianized him and bullied him. hes always been the most supportive of the other boys and been the kindest to fans and always given us the most content. this album was strange because he was supposedly working on it for so long and kept on delaying it and removing songs and adding them and it just seemed at times that he didnt want to release it, like he was just doing it because its what his label wanted. he's also said that that style wasnt his favorite and he wanted to branch out into other stuff but it never happened. the First Time EP came out before this album and it was GOOD, but it was never promoted. and then this album was released and i actually loved it so much, but it was again, never promoted. he never announced a tour, he doesnt have merch, and he barely did any interviews for it. i dont know what the situation was but it felt like it was bad, like liam was having lots of trouble with his label and/or doing stuff he didnt want to do. he was also doing so many of these weird one off small music festivals where he just sang the same five songs over and over, while he had way better songs that hes never performed live, which is so devastating because hes SUCH a talented artist and he deserves more love.

Liam has been my fave since the 1D days. He deserves way more from his team! ❤️ he is killing this style🤯

Yes yes yes yes yes
Because they just want anything to hate him. If any other artist released it they wouldn’t care. Mostly harry fans.
Both ways is actually written by a bisexuel woman and is about her own experiences. So I don‘t get why there is any hate towards Liam
Liam deserves so much better. I never understood why people hate upon his album or compare it to the other boys.
YES. Thank you. I'm so excited to watch this and Zayn's MOM reaction too. Too few people have reacted to LP1.

I've been a stan for almost 10 years both of one direction and specially of liam payne. His vocals in live shows and concerts is unmatched. Most people often make presumptions based on what media or some people say to them without even giving it a listen. LP1 is literally a banger.

THANK YOU SAY IT LOUDER FOR PEOPLE IN THE BACK
i love a supportive person. love you, steven, thanks for hyping up this album with us. liam deserves more!
So beautifully and well written (most of them by Liam!)

React to Liam's Summer Ball performance of STRIP THAT DOWN it was FIRE 💘
And also to the official video of For You
You should look at the live performance of For You with Rita Ora on the Today Show
Yeah for you is the best one from liam for me
The way I see it, Liam is the King of singing together with others and bringing out the best in them.
But I do get your point, when he was in 1D his main strength was making everyone sound excellent in harmonies.
@@LB-ih7hn yes, I didn't mean to imply that's his only strength 😊

Liam has song writing credits on the following Tracks;
LP1:
Strip that down (co-write)
Weekend
Say it all
Both Ways
LP1 Bonus & Target Tracks:
Before it ends
Trouble
Nobody Else
Hurting me
Admittedly, it’s a far cry from his one direction 32 / 33 song writing credits and MITAM producer credits. But he did mention that he had writers block when Bear was born, so that might have something to do with it.
It’s so nice to see an unbiased opinion of Liam’s album! He deserved so much better. Thanks for this reaction. You should check out his First Time EP.
I'm bi and my fav is Both Ways
don't invalidate other people's reasons
@@FifthFallsbyEddie she didn't invalidate other people reasons , she just stated her opinion
The fact is not everyone subscribed to the FB interpretation of BWs.
@@FifthFallsbyEddie I'm not invalidating your opinion of the song, but just giving my opinion. And actually, that song was written by a woman, just to be clear.
@@pandabear3252 Thank you !!
I have been waiting for this man well done
seriously, you need to react to Depend On It, Which in my opinion is Liam's best song. Music that he delivers a wonderful vocal, and a very sincere lyrics about relationship. It's my favorite song of his. And I loved your video. ❤️
Steven , you have to react to his EP & Bonus tracks on LP1 they're so goodd , you'll love them ❤️
When you said you thought Strip that Down was Ed sheeran's I just remembered recently Liam told in a video that his son was jamming to an Ed song and thought it was his dad, I thought it was so cute
I hope he gets recognition that he deserves. tbh this album is good
Glad you enjoyed it there the lp show coming try to see it or just watch the lp show act 1 you will get to hear him live
Thank you for doing this❤
LP1 didn't do very well because of the controversy over Both Ways.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG *TURN IT UP*
Thank you steven for listening to the best album in the world
Idc what that fickle fan base thinks, as someone who wasn't a 1D fan and a pop/R&B hip hop listener, this was a solid album. There was definitely some mismanagement with the project in terms of multiple delays and certain songs not being singles instead. He said this album was supposed to be more of a playlist of his favorite genres instead of a cohesive album and he did it justice. RIP Liam
some information about the album:
1 - songs with more listeners were released before the album
2- when it was about to be released, fans, especially Harry fans, started a "chain" of hatred against him and the album, which made people not hear him and just hate him
3- both ways were controversial because of this sexualization thing, it was a mistake that both Liam and the composer apologized for
4- there are 5 more songs that were left out and are bonuses in Japan (in my opinion they are the best), they are Before It Ends, Trouble, Nobody Else, Down and Hurting Me
6- his record company didn't publicize the album as it should and he ended up stopping too
reacts to the album's bonus tracks and EP First Time
harry fans didn’t start that? locals on twitter started the hashtag 😭
@@user-fe2nr8qs1c exactly. but as always they'll find ways to bring harry into their bs theories
Thank you for this.
Thank u for reacting 💞☄💞😌
I literally screeched when you Loved Weekend!! It's my fav from his album & just confirmed for me ( as always) , you have superior taste 👌👌👌
