Tyra really wasted the potential to do more to change the modeling industry, especially when you have at your disposal the great modeling brands of the world in your fingertips, but no, she used ANTM to further cement the stereotypical Challenges of the modeling industry, that’s why she’s reaping what she’s sowing
Tyra has proved again and again that she is the model version of "I used to have to walk 30 miles to school everyday-" Like I stg her whole attitude is "how dare you not be able to do this because of completely valid and normal issue- I'VE modeled in -0° wearing a bikini falling out of a plane while holding a cocktail and petting a shark all while I had a sore throat. So why can't you do this? Unacceptable."
This has me dying 🤣 😂 💀 😭 that's tyra in a nutshell! Me me me me me me me me,its like being at the opera but instead of opera singers it's just the mean girl from high school talking about herself 😆 🤣 😂
But it's her show and she has had the career these girls can only dream of. When she was coming up, she didn't the practice these girls get on the show. This and these video reactions bug me because it's like totally being contrary rather than understanding from both sides.
@@dinh5532 well that's Tyra. Good for her in enduring whatever hardships it was like before. But the point is, times change. Maybe she did have to model in -6 degrees in a bikini with the stomach flu. But just because she was made to means others should. Improvements in work conditions should always be encouraged. How can we change things if we always go on about how it was back then?
The girl that was eliminated was my church member. She is married and doing well. Tyra tried to break her…but God. We stood beside her. I stopped watching ANTM after the way she was done. Your grandmother, Josie, is proud of you!!! SBC FAMILY!!
I stopped watching after they did my girl Angelea dirty on C14 & C17. They used that girl for a sob story, lead her on and then discarded her like trash when she wasn’t useful anymore.
Wow that’s crazy, but maybe God was protecting her from these demonic vipers from further damaging her, at most she could’ve died of drug OD or have an eating disorder, happy to know she’s doing better now
I did some commercial modeling when I was a younger. Here are my observations: (1) Even though we worked with a teleprompter, we still had the script ahead of time. Usually, it's the same one they used for casting so we already know what we're supposed to say. (2) We definitely get more than 5 takes. This is not only because of "talent" error but also because the crew/production managers are also making adjustments. (3) Long, talky shots like these usually get broken down to smaller segments esp when you're moving from one place to another and they're edited together later. It's faster so we don't have to keep shooting from the top in case we mess up. These commercials are designed to be as punishing as possible. Shooting commercials tend to be economical, sometimes to the point that they're mechanical. I've never been on a set with this much useless yapping.
Exactly. I was wondering if this commercial was explicitly meant to be one take, without cuts (it's a style people can go for) but they then show the commercial with cuts? That makes no sense.
She was throwing up on set and still did better than some of the other girls. It honestly just feels like Tyra eliminated her for shock value because she's a narcissist who was only concerned with ratings and drama.
@@Catt.marie.meow7 I agree completely! And the whole "we're not giving pity points" or whatever comment killed me - like it was her fault that she was sick. 😑😑😑
@@nataliesorrells4542 Yes, and the message that passed was actually "You can't be sick, because we could use it to send you home", which is a toxic behavior in any work environment
So I’ve worked on dozens of commercials, not as an actress but as a camera assistant. And it’s actually pretty unrealistic the conditions and pressure they put on these girls for their performance. For one, the actors get their script way in advance. Two, the director runs the scene with the actor multiple times until the scene feels right. Three, there isn’t a limit to how many takes you get. I’ve been on sets where we’ve done well over 5 takes. And lastly, the scene is broken up into multiple set ups. So their performance on the wide shot isn’t as necessary when they’re going to use certain lines in close up or as voice over on top of other scenes. And to judge someone on their performance for just one take when they haven’t rehearsed or warmed up is just unfair. It’s basically judging a test shot from a photo shoot.
I was wondering about the take limit. Like I would assume in the real world they will do as many takes as necessary to get what they want right? I can’t believe looking at it now just how bad this show was.
@@Sakanamoto yeah, typically the director will do however many they want. It’s not unusual at all for someone to go over 5 takes depending on the shot. And if you go over 5 takes it’s not always the performers fault. So the fact that Tyra will say if something isn’t good is inherently the models fault is an inaccurate depiction of how things really work.
The fact that they always have the models do full takes instead of more realistic breakdowns is infuriating. I guess there are a few continuous take commercials out there, but most aren't.
@@Elaan021 yeah. Anytime a scene is planned as a “oner” it’s usually choreographed and rehearsed many times with actors and camera before actually filming it. And they typically know that it’s going to go into the double digits for takes. But for commercials they typically want cut points for the special product shots and ect.
@@Sakanamoto I've only done ads on the radio side, but I've DEFINITELY taken more than 5 takes to voice ads sometimes. In fact it's actually a good thing to get multiple takes so production can find the right one that fits, and even splice the takes together if needed. It's more important to make the spot sound great, and represent the product/client, than to be a challenge. Their approach here is gross and unprofessional as usual 🙃
I do not have experience in commercials, but I did work on set as an extra in movies, and I confirm that the director will take as many shots as necessary until it looks right. 5 is too little. In my experience, I had to take 10-15 shots for a final product of a couple of seconds. Mind you, as an extra, not a main character.
well they only have so many takes they can possibly fit in a day and normally one actor would get all of them but they have to split it between all the girls. it makes sense if you think about it. but instead it's framed as being the reality of the business that you only get 3-5 takes.
I think Joslyn's being so extra in that first couple of takes was probably her trying to compensate for being sick. When you don't feel well and you don't want people to know, you put put everything into it. I'm guessing that if she didn't go that hard, she would have succumbed to her nausea and not been able to get through it.
Yeah, honestly I’m impressed with how well she did while she was sick. Like, I’ve done stage performance while sick and BRUH, it is no joke to act through it. She did more than okay.
I want to see how well she could have done with a bit of reasonable direction, like “tone it down here, you’re over compensating a bit.” Rather than just straight up roasting here for what was not that bad a performance
The amount of gaslighting and mental & verbal abuse by the judges on this show was astounding. It's scary when you compare the manipulation tactics that they used on this show and those used by abusers and cult leaders.
“we’re your saviors! shower us with undying worship! we could never hurt you because we’re perfect and we love you unconditionally so long as we can say and do what we want to you while you take it with a smile! we want you to speak up for yourself while we also silence you and deplete you of your voice, energy, and confidence! aren’t we one big happy family???” sounds like my parents 🤔😶
This show is really the worst. They verbally abuse them and make them feel self conscious and make them do things they would NEVER do in the actual modeling business. It’s about views and drama for them.
@@KingBoss2015 So true! Plus in the actual modeling business, they won't prolong any false hope - they'd just cut to the chase and tell you whether you're model material or not.
It is unfortunate when former models who experienced prejudice and hardship like Tyra, turn around and profit on the same thing. The girls wanted to become models, Tyra and the producers wanted to make “good” TV.
Yesss! And how she says to Elina "or you're gonna go hooome". Jeesh woman, let her be happy for a second, isn't it stressful enough?! All except one will go home whatever they do, that's the whole premise of the show!
It is quite telling that they call the models "girls" . The contestants are women. When you call them girls it makes the judges comments sound helpful or caring like something a parent would say. I am a parent and never treated my girls like this. Tyra is real peice of work, she has even talked about being bullied as a young model. She picked up some useful tricks and uses them to bully others. The other so called judges are no better.
Tyra is right about what she said. Joslyn did survive this. And Joslyn is thriving, one of the few models on the show with a successful modeling career with no stigma behind it. So I'm very happy to hear that. Queen Joslyn. 👑💖💜💖💜
Loving your cryptic message at the end lol - Tyra still hasn’t answered for all of the girls she’s put through the wringer. She’s been portrayed as this hero and role model for decades when really she was the true villain. Naomi Campbell may have been the obvious wolf but Tyra was definitely the wolf in sheep’s clothing
The irony is, Naomi was reportedly actually NICE to newer/younger models, she was just fierce at defending her place especially when models thought they could be arrogant about it. Tyra seemed to take that defense personally hence the drama between the two of them. After everything that went on Naomi seemed to truly want to help models in the industry with her show "The Face" whilst Tyra just wanted to boost her ego and take the next generation of model down 20 pegs.
@@Soapsim I'm not saying she's nice overall (but also don't forget she was a black model in a racist industry every story has 2 sides) I'm just saying to other models she WAS nice (nicer than Tyra certainly). Her being nasty to backstage staff is another story entirely, her actions aren't excusable but Tyra is framed like the angel and Naomi as the devil where as it looks very much the opposite when it some to their own TV shows.
I mean there's no surprising there's negativity in the industry, rude clients & predetors are always bellitle as a human & it's so competetive business in reality. I was 20 to look back at that (2018). So all you need to do inteligent in business don't starve yourself & be friendly as a human ( or and any clients that work).
Soooo... she was judged and sent home on how she did while sick...... This makes NO sense to me. Especially considering she did better sick than a few of those girls who were healthy. In top of that, this after Jay assuring her that her being ill would not count against her. Evidently Tyra and Co. didn't get THAT memo. Yeesh.
As someone who's worked on commercials before, that script was specifically written to create tongue twisters and mess the models up. It's a strategy used mostly in cattle calls to weed out people who can't enunciate and/or get flustered really easily. Unfortunately it's pretty common, but still sketchy as hell that the entire show seems to be designed not to challenge the models, but to mess with their heads and create drama. ALSO the blocking is not given literally minutes before the first take. There are usually "rehearsal" takes for the model/actor to go over the blocking and script before actually shooting.
I have not been in a commercial, but I’ve been on a reality tv show. It was not scripted but we had a basic idea of what we were going to talk about. We still did multiple takes to make sure we were speaking loud enough etc. also the thing that took the longest was marking exactly where to walk stand and go and where to look. We also had to repeat parts for the cameras to get different angles.
I was always so confused about why they never take all the models through to demonstrate exactly where they must be for these long uncut commercials with 20 seconds of blocking with one girl at the beginning. That script was terrible and It was written in a very poor way. It’s one long run on sentence over at Cover girl .
As someone who is currently in the hospital for constant nausea I can’t even imagine how much courage this woman has to even attempt this looking half as alive as she was, and for them to mention food like cant you keep that out?? This show really shows girls that we must confide to anything even if we’re so sick. As someone who isn’t a model I can tell you if you’re sick normally you get paid days. They’re disgusting!
I'm only mainly feeling it today, and I can't imagine. I hope you feel better and can figure it out! Have them check your potassium and magnesium levels if they haven't already! That's gotten me before. ❤️
Omg I know. Right?! As someone whose nauseous like daily (similar to cyclical vomiting syndrome I never know when it’s gonna happen) the worst part for me was after knowing she literally vomited Mr.J says to her “ham and cheese”...and I was just like, idk about you, but when I’m nauseous and throwing up the LAST thing I want to hear about is food! So maybe don’t mention it if you don’t want ham and cheese upchucked all over your $5000 t-shirt MrJ! Anyway, I hope you feel better soon, and they can figure out a way to help stop this from reoccurring!
Behind the scenes I think the eliminated girls do get to go with them on the international trips but they just get forced to be cloistered in the hotel while there
Not every cycle. After watching Anchal and Brooke's interviews with Oliver TwiXt, the girls who got eliminated before overseas didn't go. They were instantly sent home once the final 6 went to Spain.
The new name for this show should be America's next top model that can handle being bullied for 20 episodes . They are so cruel, its honestly repulsive.
I guess she started hugging the girls is because in previous cycles she didn’t and seemed very inhumane, especially since she’s portrayed on the show like their mentor.
Tyra Banks _might_ be a psycopath. I've never seen someone take so much pleasure in psychologically torturing others, while pretending to be this supportive mentor.
Tyra herself has said she bullied girls when she was younger. It wasn't until karma hit her around middle school and high school that she was made fun of for her thin body and forehead. Unfortunately it looks like she didn't learn from her past mistakes.
Tyra was a straight DEVIL for this. She even fooled me. How does she do this kind of stuff?! This girl was sick and she still played with her like that.
For the heels vs. crocks question: People move different in heel, your posture is different. So it makes sense to give them heels, even if you can't see them. Otherwise I always hated commercial shoots.
Still feels pretty ableist 'i cant be a model because i can't walk in heels and certainly not down the stairs' Its not like brands don't make flat shoes... Though i completely see the rationale regarding posture- thanks for sharing xxx
I'd love to hate your answer since I can't wear heels. But you're right. It'd make a difference in their walk. Especially since they did a lot of walking in a short commercial.
Mr Jay to crying model "whats wrong? What's up? Tell me" If she had fallen in that trap the feedback would have been 'dont tell the client your personal issues, show some professionalism!'
The number of times Tyra "allowed" both bottom 2 girls to stay means her elimination is hypocritical. She doesn't actually care if she was sick because if she did, she would have made an exception like she had in the past
Unless it is scripted to do so, you can't just add extra weeks for the heck of it. If she did that, it means that she would have to do a double elimination in the future.
There's a show called escape the night which is basically an escape room reality show with youtubers. In one season, one of the guests wasn't able to be on set for the whole time so the producers decided that her elimination would be a scripted one. But by the time that episode was being filmed, everyone on set had had enough of another guest so they made that episode a double elimination and dealt with the consequences in a later episode. If they could do it, then I'm sure ANTM could have kept an extra contestant for even just one episode if they'd wanted to.
Definitely not a wannabe! She is the original lmao! She has been mean for decades before Regina George was created. She masks her mean girl attitude by being fake sweet/nice. And she plays the victim too much
Having chronic illnesses myself at 24, I’ve discovered how nasty schools and jobs can be if you don’t “suck it up” or they think you’re making it up even when I have prescriptions for almost all of them. I finally got to a point where I was bullied enough that I decided to step away from those things. Thank god I have a wonderful boss now who has never treated me less than for my illnesses or used my “sick time” against me or questioned it.
Having a chronic illness in LIFE is already hard and debilitating. Trust me, my mom and I know.... To see how different "professions" claim to cater to every type of person as much as they can when really they DONT...it breaks your spirit and your heart even more. Then when you are able to do above what they expect, the times when you can't and need a break , they say "well you did it before. I know you can do it. Just do it now." 😑
In fairness, while your illnesses are legitimate, there are a lot of people who fabricate or exaggerate their problems to get out of school or work. I have worked with a couple of people who really enjoyed playing up how sick they are, *really* playing up how victimized they felt whenever management questioned them or took issue with how many absences they had, only to eventually get outed by their own social media posts showing them partying and getting wasted the night before they called out of work. It sucks, but jobs and schools do have to be wary about these things. There are people who are callous and entitled enough to lie about their situations and lean on others' good will to get what they want, and all it does is poison the well for people legitimately ill and in need of compassion.
@@RHBR01 your not wrong sadly... I used to wish for cancer, or to break something, end up in the hospital just SOMETHING so that people would understand that I wasn't making it up. And I'm not. I used to ask people "WHY would someone pretend to be in THIS much pain? This much misery?" But your not wrong, that's when having a great relationship with your PCP or specialist comes in handy. I TRULY wish working was an option for me. Those people who fake it make life SSOOOO much more difficult for those of us that DO have one.
The fact that Tyra said “you couldn’t tell you were sick” and then tries to justify the elimination by saying “we won’t give pity points” BUT YOU JUST SAID YOU COULD NOT TELL THAT SHE WAS SICK SO THERES WASNT ANY NEED FOR PITY POINTS
This show explains the bullying I received in Highschool. This tv show taught girls that this is how successful, confident and beautiful people treat others.
@@nrmmom yeah! And not to talk bad about the other girl, but it seems like her problems that they were criticizing went long before this shoot while Jocelyn was doing fine until she was just sick
Something that's really changed the way I've looked at eliminations even more is that when a contestant gets eliminated they evidently don't even get to GO HOME. They go to a hotel where they're confined, that still has the electronics ban in full effect, until either shooting wraps or editing is done, I can't remember which one- So the girls who get eliminated early are still stuck in pretty much complete isolation for a couple months.
And the world knows now more than ever how much isolation SUCKS. At least we still have our electronics, and can communicate with people if we can't see them in person. Those poor eliminated models couldn't even talk to family.
I had no idea about this. That’s so awful!! They can’t even reach out to family/friends for support after what was probably a really heartbreaking experience? And they have to be stuck in some next-level isolation?? That’s so twisted. The show clearly prioritised shock value and didn’t care about the models, but you’d think they’d at least be free from it after being eliminated.
they're not allowed to leave the hotel until the remaining models go overseas so you'll be REALLY unlucky if the show stayed in the US throughout the season
Treating that poor girl like that is appalling! Especially as she was so ill. They really do treat people like dirt. I can remember being "encouraged"/told I had to finish my professional ice show contract without going out sick (we had only maybe 5 days left), while having a hairline spinal fracture. I was in absolute agony, and that's an understatement! I was then criticised after the show for "not putting enough into it" during a taxing dance number. Seriously. I could barely move, and I was terrified I'd do more damage. Luckily I made it through the last few days, but I was off the ice for weeks when I got home, as I could barely walk. Don't get me wrong, we do as pro's work through illness/injury, but that took the cake for me! I could have been left with serious career-ending issues!
Don't lie, it was tougher than this. Don't sit here and act like Gianni Versace and other top fashion designers weren't sending sick girls home right before a fashion show will start after the girls have been booked. That's was the brutal reality of the modelling industry. When I watch this show, I love it cos it didn't pamper the girls. No wonder today's models don't have the stuff that the 80s and 90s models had cos yall don't wanna work hard for your spots.
@@juicygossipworld4024so what if it was tougher back then, it's abusive. You can get great pictures, runways and content without abuse. And just because it was great then does not mean it is okay today. Get real yourself and reflect on your lack of empathy
@@juicygossipworld4024 I was never sent home by Designers for being sic, just late. I was one of GVs fit models and weighed 135 pounds at the time. That said, it’s true that it’s hard in women to maintain their weight. Katherine Hammett was the only one who slapped me in the stomach and asked me to suck it in right before a show.
I get that it's a competition and someone has to be eliminated but seriously hers wasn't even the worst performance. I don't get why they eliminated her just for being sick.
She overperformed a little but she had decent pacing and annunciation, she used the space and she had more confidence in that shoot than some of the other girls definitely. It actually didn't make sense for them to have sent her home for that. It really does seem like they sent her home because she was sick.
ANTM needs to turn into a drinking game Take a shot every time: Tyra mentions a similar shoot she did Tyra talks about Naomi Model works with an injury/illness Models do something completely unrelated to modeling for competition Mr Jay brings up an "attitude"/something a model said on set
I think you worded it perfectly, the judges always act shocked and very much have an attitude of "we could have done absolutely nothing to help you ... nothing ... nothing at all ..." when literally everything is their fault. Like if the models can't take direction or do what you ask, that's one thing, but when NO ONE tells them what they need to do, the models can't be blamed for not having mind reading powers.
as a european, the way they celebrated going to the netherlands with the stupid costumes and all the props was so weird? like, they could've just said "we're going o the netherlands! yay!" to get the point across.
Yeah its pretty offensive actually, especially because they are going for modeling and not as tourists, so its just really showing the stereotypes with no purpose
@@Velnar. Yeah, I can't even imagine how some of us come off. I've heard some horror stories that make me really research places before I consider going, but at the same time, make me feel caught off guard and nervous if I meet someone from somewhere I know nothing about. I'm sorry on behalf of Americans from the States 😅
Honestly, as someone who's been behind a camera a couple of times, the worst commercial was the nervous girl who couldn't stop moving. She had closed body language, she had jerky movements, and even though she was holding the product, she never held it still long enough for the camera to see. I AM ONLY POINTING THIS OUT, BECAUSE IT IS CLEAR THAT THE JUDGES CAME INTO THIS WITH AN AGENDA. These commercial challenges are fundamentally unfair in this competition. Period. But it is soooo obvious that they were pushing the narrative of Elina being to controlled, and they wanted to punish her for it, but not eliminate her. This seems especially true, since Elina actually took the criticism on set and opened up in her next takes. BUT THEY STILL called her too controlled. And I think they had already planned on eliminating Jocelyn. In the past they've rewarded favorites for performing in spite of illness, but THIS TIME they won't give out potty points?!? These two would have been the bottom two no matter what actually happened that day.
You answered your own question a million times. They want drama. They don't care about being fair or nice. They want to be brutal and mean which creates drama. If Tyra didn't say the part about survival, it'd just be mean. But to praise then attack someone like that is disgusting. Especially since when she smiling when she said it.
"The name that I do not call must immediately return to the house pack your belongings, and go home." Not that I think I'm model-worthy but NGL I'd just do that literally. Wouldn't way a word. Would look eyes with Tyra then the camera and just WALK. Don't care WHAT Tyra has to say to me because honestly screw the lot of them. Tyra literally kicked girls out because they were more professional than she was. I'd love to have seen Tyra's reaction to someone just doing that. She hated when that model had no "upset" reaction and screamed at her.
Tyra bringing up the fact that the model was sick reminded me so much of what she did last season on Dancing With the Stars. One of the celebs had stomach issues and ran off after the dance was over and Tyra kind of graphically said what the celeb went to do. Super disrespectful!
Joselyn was clearly casted to be eliminated which is a very well known practice on shows like this and RuPaul's Drag Race. It's too bad, awful treatment
yeah I think the judges thought her personality was good for TV but they never really saw her as a model (partially because she’s a Black girl w/ethnic features & doesn’t have the sharpest jawline or most prominent bone structure)
They were really quite mean to Elina and Majorie since they were the two non-American born girls. I wouldn’t take that as a positive critique. Earlier on in the season they had won a photo shoot that was Christmas themed and the other girls were like “well they’re atheists why should they get to do a Christmas shoot it’s not like they practice it.” It was super inappropriate and discriminatory and I remember I was very against that one with the blonde Karen cut after that.
Jessica reading the commercial script is hilarious and adorable all at the same time! This just makes me think of when Danielle was sick during her photoshoot. How come she ended up winning? Oh right, cuz Tyra rigs this whole show.
I work in the commercial world and I can't imagine ever telling an actor they have a limited number of takes. That's not normal...I understand with multiple models they can't each be on set all day, but I'm sure that added so much extra pressue. Plus the director seemed pretty quick with his initial blocking and I didn't see him giving *any* feedback during their performance...They aren't going to change anything if no one directs them??
As someone with severe emetophobia, I just wanted to say thank you for blurring the vomit. I've had panic attacks from just seeing it on television, so I'm beyond appreciative for that.
You can tell Analeigh likes the video aspect of being a model here... and that explains why she went into movies! On a side note, PLEASE consider reacting to Yu Tsai's appearance on Model Squad (season 1 episode 1 (at the end) and episode 2 (at the beginning and models reactions throughout the episode). I think this show is a great way to show "Actual shoots" v. the Tyra version of this madness.
I really would like to know the experiences from the staff’s point of view or even Tyra’s guests. What were they told? Were they forced to sign a confidentiality agreement or something? We never hear from them how toxic it was.
I am a great grandma, of 5 girls, I am so proud of this young lady, the courage it took to stand there upon theses wolfs, it took great strength being with theses evil people's. I felt the pain, may God bless you in what ever you do. Good luck, you are a great human being. Always hold your head up, and keep that hat tight. Blessed said the Lord.
Joslyn being kicked off for the way being sick affected her performance on the shoot reminds me of getting fired for the way my declining mental health affected my performance at work. Oh, but we can't say it was my mental health or that I had just come back from medical leave; that's discrimination. It was because I couldn't hit my quotas... Got it. 🙄👌
I remember this when it aired, I was tight cause Joslyn was my favorite that cycle & I wanted her to win. She started off strong then I feel like they started picking her worst photos. Would've loved to have seen her do those shoots in Holland. She shouldn't have went home. Jessica can you react to these photoshoots? Cycle 9: Flowers & Plants Shoot Gargoyles Shoot Recycling Shoot Cycle 11: Natural Disasters Shoot
I didn’t watch a lot of ANTM when I was a kid. This was the one show I watched and it’s hard to believe how much my perception changed from then to now. It’s absolutely horrifying the abuse these girls went through and from your vid’s, this is quite tame
All season they were trying HARD to find Elina's weakness, but if they paid attention to the colour of her hands at 23:56, they would have figured out she was probably having an allergic reaction to the show's BS. (I'm not making fun of her btw, but really that skin tone is having me low key worried)
I would think they'd want the models in slippers so they don't have the sound of footsteps to deal with and they get better sound quality. Heals would be the loudest footwear they could have
Is ANTM still being filmed? If so I think we should petition for Jessica to take over as host/photographer! I know she isn’t the biggest people person but I think she would kill it, such a great show idea, I would never miss an episode!

Okay no, Tyra has the audacity to tell the model hopefully she'll go home with more self esteem than she came with??? I feel like Tyra is not only tone deaf but just ruthless and callous towards all the models. This show was designed to knock and strip any self esteem or confidence away from these girls not build it!
OMG, where you paused the video at the end of Tyra’s rant to the model who was sick. I almost fell out of my chair with laughter. Such a great look for her after the way she was.
I love how analeigh went on to acting although she always kind of reminded me of Hillary duff. I think that forcing someone to go through this when they are sick and not showing support or consideration is another sign production could have been improved during all seasons

Hey Jessica can you please react to the challenge in Cycle 3 where they had the models walk on a runway they couldn’t really see that well which caused a huge disadvantage to one of the girls because she was legally blind?

Your makeup is always on point, Jessica! And I love these reactions you have, I think it’s really important to call out stuff that happened on the show and hold people accountable. I loved this show as a kid, and I thought some things were strange but never realized how bad things were. I thought this was a part of the buisness.
I love you and what you're doing with ANTM years after many of us watched. I knew then it was brutal, having been a model. I found a lot ridiculous then, but now... OMG! Love your smart, fresh, 'grown-up' take as a photographer and conciencous woman on this truly abhorant treatment of these vulnerable women.
I'm such a huge fan of your channel, for your both Top Model and your photography videos. I was wondering if you would ever do a video where you react to Tyra as a photographer? She shoots the girls a number of times during the show. Some of the episodes that she does photograph them actually has 2 shoots in them so that might be a good thing to get reactions from like Cycle 8, Episode 10 where the girls had to do 2 swimsuit photoshoots. The one that sticks out in my mind the most is Cycle 7, Episode 6 where the girls shot with Tyra and then their 2nd shoot was a romance book cover. I think that the elimination for that episode was one of the worst and shadiest things I've ever seen on this show. I would also love to see your reaction to that. I hope you'll consider it but either way, keep doing what you are doing. Your channel is so awesome
First time coming across your channel. I loved the commentary and how you presented it. I am absolutely disgusted with how Tyra and her minions acted. Tyra did her dirty. There was no excuse for her behavior.
They got on to the girl for looking down when going down the stairs but when the girl who had the "best commercial in top model history" literally turned her back to the camera to go down the stairs, they say NOTHING.
I always felt their commercial were like: _"New Cover Girl Slash Splash Splat Blush Blash Flash Smack Eye Lashes"_
it’s still better than tyra beauty🤣🤣🤣
I feel like they tried to make the speeches grammatically incorrect and illogical so they would mess them up.
The name, tho!!! 😂😂😂 Btw they give you a whole script monologue with that name in it 15 times and you have 32 seconds to memorize it!
This comment wins!

Jay SPECIFICALLY said if you’re feeling sick it won’t count against you. Aaaaaand she’s gone.
And she didn't actually did the worst! Elina did way worst and she wasn't even sick!
He said stopping between takes won't count against her. Not the overall judgment
Tyra really wasted the potential to do more to change the modeling industry, especially when you have at your disposal the great modeling brands of the world in your fingertips, but no, she used ANTM to further cement the stereotypical Challenges of the modeling industry, that’s why she’s reaping what she’s sowing
@@NIkki-ox1ej she said she wanted to change it, but waste every chance to BE the change. She did this only for herself
It's not the first time Tyra has eliminated a model for being sick
Tyra has proved again and again that she is the model version of "I used to have to walk 30 miles to school everyday-"
Like I stg her whole attitude is "how dare you not be able to do this because of completely valid and normal issue- I'VE modeled in -0° wearing a bikini falling out of a plane while holding a cocktail and petting a shark all while I had a sore throat. So why can't you do this? Unacceptable."
Not falling out of a plane with a cocktail while petting a shark😭😭
Petting a shark 😂😂😂
That is awesome. Amazing. I am so happy to hear that❤
That's awesome!!! Tyra is a monster, she really is.
Awe, I LOVE THIS……. BUT GOD!!!!!!!!!! 🙌🏻🖤💯 I’m glad to hear she is doing well!!!
Here are my observations:
(1) Even though we worked with a teleprompter, we still had the script ahead of time.
Oh thank u for this.i always wanted to know how they r done for real
Exactly. I was wondering if this commercial was explicitly meant to be one take, without cuts (it's a style people can go for) but they then show the commercial with cuts? That makes no sense.
THis was a competition.
@@Travelbug71 and supposed to train them so you'd think they'd be accurate
This is my thought - don't they take a DAY to shoot these? That's more than 5 takes.
She was throwing up on set and still did better than some of the other girls. It honestly just feels like Tyra eliminated her for shock value because she's a narcissist who was only concerned with ratings and drama.
Exactly 💯 thought the same thing Joslins deliverance was great and showed plenty of her personality it shocked me.
@@Catt.marie.meow7 I agree completely! And the whole "we're not giving pity points" or whatever comment killed me - like it was her fault that she was sick. 😑😑😑

Can You tell any movie You were in? Sounds interesting
Pls what movie & who's actors pls pls pls
I had to take like 30 at least for my 1min long promo video 😅 it was horrible.
Yeah but this is an audition for a commercial. As someone who's auditioned for commercials, you're lucky if you get 3 takes for your audition.
“we’re your saviors! shower us with undying worship! we could never hurt you because we’re perfect and we love you unconditionally so long as we can say and do what we want to you while you take it with a smile!
we want you to speak up for yourself while we also silence you and deplete you of your voice, energy, and confidence! aren’t we one big happy family???”

Tyra is really the worst. It really requires some level of having a joy from the sufferings of others to do this elimination IN THIS WAY
She really enjoys their suffering.
Did you see her smile after "not everyone's going to Amsterdam"? She's a ghoul.
Yeah, out of all the people Gen Z likes to cancel, why haven't we gone for Tyra yet? She literally promoted black-face in an episode.
yep. she does. its called be a sadist, or sadistic.
Tyra is a sadistic person. I can't stand her.

Yeah they want controversy and drama for the show.

I know right, I bet he mentioned the food just to see if it would make her worse. I cant stand the sight, smell or mention of food while nauseas

It’s terrible bc Tyra used to announce the trips AFTER eliminating the girls. This was changed. 🙃
Behind the scenes I think the eliminated girls do get to go with them on the international trips but they just get forced to be cloistered in the hotel while there
All the girls from the cycle fly there. It's just kept as a secret.

None of those times were exceptions. They were all planned with future double eliminations (or, Cycle 5's case, one model quit beforehand).

I finally got to a point where I was bullied enough that I decided to step away from those things. Thank god I have a wonderful boss now who has never treated me less than for my illnesses or used my “sick time” against me or questioned it.
*hugs* i know how you feel. I'm SO thankful that you have a fabulous boss.
Just do it now."
😑
You're so right... Having a chronic illness in this world is not easy
This much misery?"

the problem (one of the many problems) of ANTM is that its a reality show first, a competition second, and a MODELING competition 3rd.

Those dramatic eyes though! 😳👀But they are her moneymaker I guess...

Don't get me wrong, we do as pro's work through illness/injury, but that took the cake for me! I could have been left with serious career-ending issues!

Especially when Dani (Cycle 6) powered through everything to where she was crowned the winner. Very contradictory.
I remember watching this episode and AGREEING with Tyra. Man. This show really brainwashed us
I saw this too and I fell in love with Sheena in this. I remember Joslyn being eliminated and I felt bad for her!
ANTM needs to turn into a drinking game
Take a shot every time: Tyra mentions a similar shoot she did
Tyra talks about Naomi
Model works with an injury/illness
Models do something completely unrelated to modeling for competition
Mr Jay brings up an "attitude"/something a model said on set
I don't want to die like that
"Dead eyes" and "who is she?" And the whole level up thing they always say
I think you worded it perfectly, the judges always act shocked and very much have an attitude of "we could have done absolutely nothing to help you ... nothing ... nothing at all ..." when literally everything is their fault. Like if the models can't take direction or do what you ask, that's one thing, but when NO ONE tells them what they need to do, the models can't be blamed for not having mind reading powers.
Tyra called her a survivor for still doing the commercial while sick, but then sends her home
as a european, the way they celebrated going to the netherlands with the stupid costumes and all the props was so weird? like, they could've just said "we're going o the netherlands! yay!" to get the point across.
Oh they did that with all the trips. London, Tokyo, Phuket, Pretoria, Beijing, Barcelona etc.
@@nomousecat Yeah, welcome to the states lol We aren't always the most culturally sensitive 😂😅
As a dutchie it felt really awkward and offensive. the music, images and saying only Holland, but hey that's ANTM... 🤷🏼♀️
Every single woman did so good!! Seriously I was so impressed.
Watch the full episode again on YT channel cuz very intriging especially there deliberation.
The line "Lash Blast lashes" is a tongue twister. I don't blame Sam at all for struggling to enunciate it.
You answered your own question a million times. They want drama. They don't care about being fair or nice. They want to be brutal and mean which creates drama. If Tyra didn't say the part about survival, it'd just be mean. But to praise then attack someone like that is disgusting. Especially since when she smiling when she said it.
"The name that I do not call must immediately return to the house pack your belongings, and go home."
Not that I think I'm model-worthy but NGL I'd just do that literally.
Louise in the US vs. UK season. She was confrontational but you want to see Tyra put in her place it’s good.
IIRC, Bre did this on her elimination (Cycle 17). No hugs, just walked out. Maybe because of her BS elim and being fed up of Tyra’s antics.
@@mikeegeologo7680 Bre also wasted her energy on that little girl Bianca's drama instead of focusing on herself
Oh yes, that was one of the most pathetic scenes of ANTM history, as far as I know
Tyra bringing up the fact that the model was sick reminded me so much of what she did last season on Dancing With the Stars. One of the celebs had stomach issues and ran off after the dance was over and Tyra kind of graphically said what the celeb went to do. Super disrespectful!
She has no charisma. She think she does but she has no true charm. She’s super fake and passive aggressive as hell
Joselyn was clearly casted to be eliminated which is a very well known practice on shows like this and RuPaul's Drag Race.
It's too bad, awful treatment
& I think Tyra called her name almost around last in the casting call outs
yeah I think the judges thought her personality was good for TV but they never really saw her as a model (partially because she’s a Black girl w/ethnic features & doesn’t have the sharpest jawline or most prominent bone structure)
The fact that the girls in the background were whispering for Joselyn to stay goes to show what they thought of the girl that actually did stay
That Amsterdam announcement looked straight up like an SNL skit 🤣🤣🤣
It did!😂🤣🤣
Jessica reading the commercial script is hilarious and adorable all at the same time!
This just makes me think of when Danielle was sick during her photoshoot. How come she ended up winning?
Oh right, cuz Tyra rigs this whole show.
Yep....she probably groomed joslyn leading her on that she'd be Danielle 2.0 but she probably just favoured/liked Danielle better🤷🤷🏻♂️😠
I wonder how Tyra picks a fav girl it doesn't seem like she has a lot of contact with the girls outside of filming
“To highlight your big head”
“You can’t give the girls crocs?!”
💀💀💀😂😂😂😂😂😂
You are the queen of one-liners boo! 😂🙌🏾
The satisfaction when Jessica calls out Tyra every time >>>>>
As someone with severe emetophobia, I just wanted to say thank you for blurring the vomit. I've had panic attacks from just seeing it on television, so I'm beyond appreciative for that.
I also have that! ❤ so I feel your pain.
OMG YES! Okay, I knew I knew her from somewhere. Wowza. She’s killing it rn.
@@meinenklinke She's in Lucy with Scarlett Johansson. I was in the cinema like: Wait, huh?!
they go by lio tipton now, pronouns are they/them!! just a heads-up
@@oglifeline1005 I had no idea. Thanks for the update. I only knew them from ANTM.
@@Bianca_Toeps YES! And she KILLED 👏🏾💥!
I really would like to know the experiences from the staff’s point of view or even Tyra’s guests. What were they told? Were they forced to sign a confidentiality agreement or something? We never hear from them how toxic it was.
Yeah they were.... They had to sign an NDA in order to be on the show... Former judges included.
They for sure wanted someone to fall down the stairs. Getting mad she looked down? Yeah they were waiting for a tumble.
I still remember when someone would criticize this show (in public or private) and you'd instantly be attacked. It was wild.
Never mind the fact that Tyra CONSTANTLY finds excuses to touch Nigel or flaunt herself at him like @17:23 ...it was so obvious and cringe.
Cycle 9:
Flowers & Plants Shoot
Gargoyles Shoot
Recycling Shoot
Cycle 11:
Natural Disasters Shoot
I didn’t watch a lot of ANTM when I was a kid. This was the one show I watched and it’s hard to believe how much my perception changed from then to now. It’s absolutely horrifying the abuse these girls went through and from your vid’s, this is quite tame
All season they were trying HARD to find Elina's weakness, but if they paid attention to the colour of her hands at 23:56, they would have figured out she was probably having an allergic reaction to the show's BS. (I'm not making fun of her btw, but really that skin tone is having me low key worried)
the main thing that they continuously would say about Elina was that she was too controlled and wouldn't let her guard down
There's a thing called reinauds where blood doesn't flow properly to your hands or feet. I have it. I would assume Elina does too.
@@niamh3610 I agree! Must be Raynaud's but I think it shows in the tips?
@@erinpilla not necessarily all the time!
I would think they'd want the models in slippers so they don't have the sound of footsteps to deal with and they get better sound quality. Heals would be the loudest footwear they could have
That's why they were walking on cardboard taped to the floor during the shoot, to silence the sound of their heels.
Is ANTM still being filmed? If so I think we should petition for Jessica to take over as host/photographer!
I know she isn’t the biggest people person but I think she would kill it, such a great show idea, I would never miss an episode!
In 4 years we don't hace any new season. It's over folks
@@ClaudetteVioletta Tyra was done after season 23 but VH1 wanted to revive it and did 2 seasons and Tyra was done with it. Still the best modelling competition ever.
@@juicygossipworld4024 the last season was 24
This reminds me of how Stacy was eliminated the previous season....she was natural bubbly sunny and kind.....they were trying to "break" her spirit I think
Ugh Stacy Ann was so amazing! Her elimination made NO SENSE
@@ItsJustJakieG evil ppl ie Tyra Paulina Nigel "miss" jay idgaf if it's for the show they're exploitation and a use does not make good tv karma is catching up with all of them in time
The psychological warfare that goes on in this show is seriously unnecessary and painful to watch. Holy cannoli.
Tyra: You are a survivor
Also Tyra: Survive this!
*Blinks twice and robotic smile*
OMG, where you paused the video at the end of Tyra’s rant to the model who was sick. I almost fell out of my chair with laughter. Such a great look for her after the way she was.
I love how analeigh went on to acting although she always kind of reminded me of Hillary duff. I think that forcing someone to go through this when they are sick and not showing support or consideration is another sign production could have been improved during all seasons
Analeigh had the best commercial ever! It was like she had done it hundreds of times
@@missvida6251 I'm so happy that she was successful (and I also love Hillary Duff so that wasn't a slam on her either ;)) there ar e so many girls too good for ANTM
just fyi, they go by lio now and their pronouns are they/them
Why did my brain go to “Bring in the Dancing Lobsters!” when you said “bring in the giant windmills”? 😂🤣
That “lash blast lashes” had hash-slinging-slasher vibes and no one can tell me otherwise 😂
😭🤣
This comment took me tf out. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not only did it not show that she was sick, she actually performed well! Also Cover Girl performances are always fake and extra. When I watch those commercials their delivery never feels real or genuine. It’s always over the top and they’re selling a product. Am I alone here?
“The only thing they’re lifting up is their hand to wave away the peasants.” The best line ever 😂😂😂😂.
Hey Jessica can you please react to the challenge in Cycle 3 where they had the models walk on a runway they couldn’t really see that well which caused a huge disadvantage to one of the girls because she was legally blind?
Mr J is like a toxic parent gaslighting their child. “I feel like we always coddle you” 🤮
Him and Tyra are psycho 😒
All of Analeigh’s doubters…
She has the best commercial in ANTM history.
Also, she’s now a successful working actress. You go girl!
The level of psychopathy is incredible, it's scary
That first girl was AMAZING!! I READ it with her n she was expressive n read it so flawlessly, slowly but understandable..love ur videos jessica!
Please keep doing these reactions from antm!
Her name is Samantha. ( with blonde pixie)
As someone who is currently watching this video on and off the toilet in the middle of the night to distract myself from feeling sick, I'm feeling more hostile towards Tyra than normal lol
Me too! I’m nauseous too and Covid positive.
I’m feeling extra mean today🤣
Feel better💕
@@Bribreezzzyy oh man, thank you! You too! I think I just have good poisoning, so I may not have it as bad. I hope you get better quick!
"You pushed through and did your best," but still BYEEEE!!! So savage. And the way it was done too. Dayum! 😳
This is a GREAT suggestion!!
Am I wrong or does ANTM seem like a "peppy and happy" psychological thriller? Tyra, Mr. Jay, and the judges make a sinister group
One of the most heartbreaking eliminations! Jocelyn did NOT deserve that!
First time coming across your channel. I loved the commentary and how you presented it.
I am absolutely disgusted with how Tyra and her minions acted. Tyra did her dirty. There was no excuse for her behavior.
You can really tell Analeigh was a natural :) Glad she made into Hollywood!
They got on to the girl for looking down when going down the stairs but when the girl who had the "best commercial in top model history" literally turned her back to the camera to go down the stairs, they say NOTHING.
OMG… the PRINTER. I’m dead. They sabotage these girls anyway they can!!!!
The shade of pausing Tyra like that starting at 18:56. 🤣
