To the Manor Born is a BBC television sitcom that first aired on BBC1 from 1979 to 1981. A special one-off episode was produced in 2007. Starring Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles, the first 20 episodes and the 2007 special were written by Peter Spence, the creator, while the final episode in 1981 was written by script associate Christopher Bond. The title is a play on the phrase "to the manner born," from Shakespeare's Hamlet ("Though I am a native here and to the manner born, it is a custom more honoured in the breach than the observance".) - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Always my favourite commentator. 💎 Peaceful presentation and soothing music. A great record and tribute of respect for our very cherished entertainers. Thank you so much.
I saw this show on PBS many years ago.
I'm 64 and got a bit of a shock at the age they were in the sitcom. Really a lot of them, especially the men were younger than me and yet looked SO MUCH OLDER than me. I don't have receding hair, or white hair, or heaps of lines across my face. Just a shock. Maybe it is the British weather that makes them age so much. Still it is nice to reminisce with some of the storylines that quickly showed up here. I remember most of the episodes from memory. Penelope is still around by the looks of things.
Good for you mate 😂
Bad nutrition, expensive health care, and at least one World War for some of them; even for those that grew up in rich families.
@@glynwelshkarelian3489 Yes and some saw the Great Depression of the 1930s didn't they. The war definitely would have changed them. You're right.
They all drank AND smoked themselves to death back in those days!
@@MRROBBIEWATTS But to be fair: tobacco and alcohol were the 2 most socially acceptable drugs to cope with stress until the late 20th Century. I'd argue that alcohol still should be.
They could have hired a real human being to comment, not a robot.
Penelooe Keith isn't dead
It doesn't say she is.
Brab-in-jer
Man-or
Or manner
Not the most successful sitcom on tv,
I loved it. Was my favourite.
