You're lucky. I got to see Mayhem perform De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas live in its entirety with Attila back in 2009. It was at a small club in Minneapolis, MN. They played most of Wolf's Lair Abyss as well. I was up front the whole show. It was something that can't really be put into words. I'll may never see another show that amazing ever again. Glad you got one of those, too. Everyone needs at least one.
I was just thinking about this show. The sound was so good in this tiny long gone club! Dissection was so nervous and covered in spikes, but sounded perfect from start to finish. In '96 you didn't see a lot of actual black metal acts yet, just the local wannabes. My band was Iskariot. At The Gates was up next and was just as amazing on Slaughter of the Soul tour. Morbid Angel headlined on Domination tour and was better than usual. So much fun, got to meet all the bands.
Dissection Charlotte Setlist: "At the Fathomless Depths" Intro "Night's Blood" "Unhallowed" "The Grief Prophecy / Shadows Over a Lost Kingdom" "Frozen" "Retribution - Storm of the Light's Bane" "The Somberlain"
Plus '98 did seem rather late where it felt like Jon would have already been in jail. Guess my intuition was right, but didn't want to argue the VHS tape that could have come from the source. Did you see the tour?
Yup, he was in prison at that point or damn near anyway. Not sure when the trial ended. I did not see this tour, sadly. But I have a few friends who did. The tour package was Dissection, At the Gates, and Morbid Angel. Such an insane lineup, since they were all peaking at that point.

Was this part of the tour where they supported Morbid Angel???
This was in 1996.
Thanks or clarifying, my tape has always been labelled wrong!
All good! Only reason I know, is that was Dissection's only US tour, which happened to be in 1996, LOL!
