      Sarah, I have an idea that I wish you would try. Cut a page you want to color, and scan it into your computer. Then play around with the darkness of the lines to the lightest you feel comfortable with. Once toy choose this, now print it on a high quality paper. If you need a larger print size, maybe take it to a printing store.

    This is literally the best thing you've ever done Sarah- please push yourself out of your comfort zone a little more often because the resulting art is soooooo cool and it inspires me to be a little bolder myself. New video series on collaging and painting color book cutouts?

    Your channel makes creating feel accessible. Having a colouring page as a base to build upon, and allow adding and taking away parts makes it so you can create with anything. This piece is inspirational to enjoy and get creative. Love the concept to use colouring pages in another way.

    This is a fantastic idea, especially for those of us that lack in the drawing area. But still can make a great final product as you have. I just may try this with my granddaughter, as she really loves anything related to art. Thank you for sharing💕💕

    Amazing! I found myself going back & forth between “is this sacrilege?” and “that’s SO creative!” to “why is Spiderman the only human male” and “Im amazed that Sarah could find just the right posed characters to match the painting’s poses!”
    So while Im not sure about disneying up of a beloved subject, Im impressed with the creativity and effort put into it!

    • @ReverieOfThorns
      @ReverieOfThorns ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I wouldn't call it sacrilegious, and the reason why is because you often see people create other pieces of art inspired by or in the same style/color scheme of famous paintings in art history. The Last Supper is one I've seen done many, many times. Yes, it is a piece that includes religious figures, but it is also a very important piece of art and art history even in a secular space. The point I think of this is that anyone could've been in the image and it still would be an amazing piece of art. As I said before, this piece I've seen done quite a few times, I'm sure you could easily go to Google images and find a bunch of examples similar to this.
      It's really late where I live so if anything I said doesn't make sense or there are a lot of grammatical or spelling errors, I apologize lol.

    Hullo Sarah, You created a lovely picture! I recreated famous paintings for my nephews birthday presents. I used Disney characters for the models and I used The Last Supper, Rembrandt’s Nightwatch and I avoided the pointillism of the Surat picnic, but used the layout! You can use a lot more characters in that painting. I hope you are happy with your conversions and I hope you continue to stretch your art muscles! You removed a few pages from coloring books, you did NOT ruin your books! I have used just about every painting medium. I love the fast drying of acrylics, yet that is a real disadvantage for blending like you can accomplish with oil’s! I have used watercolors and working on paper is so much easier than canvas! Now I have used oils on paper but it requires a definite set-up regimen, or oil paper purchases! I say use a medium that you are comfortable with or already have! I look forward to watching your next video project! See ya then!

    this is great! Having a bunch of filled up books is nice and "impressive", but pulling them out and using them for this makes the whole thing SO MUCH more interesting! I've been pulling out pages too, even if I don't chop them up, so I can see when books are being used/how thin they grow, but I like the idea of just cutting out the pieces you like. Also, I don't like most coloring book's paper (too thin), and I just realized that cutting out the image and sticking it to some heavy paper would work (almost) just as well! thank you for the idea, I loved this video

    Not that Spider-Man is Judas, but it’s quite ironic and hilarious how everyone else is a princess and he’s the odd man out, considering he’s in the Judas’s position. That’s like a sweet little bit of artistic twist that fits the theme so well.

    Sarah, this is a masterpiece! It's by far one of the most ambitious projects, but also my favourite! Your skill in painting is incredible, considering you're really not familiar with the medium, and you gave the "old" look to the whole painting which makes it instantly recognisable, even if filled with Disney princesses!
    Could you in the future try again, maybe doing the school of Athens with oil paints? I think it'd be an incredible challenge!

    You should try acrylics with an acrylic retardant! It slows down the drying and allows you rework. Basically it makes acrlyics act like oils, but they do dry a hell of a lot quicker (and you can add a new layer).
    It doesn't mean they take as long to dry but you can get a good amount of time from decent acrlyics.

    Hey Sarah, I also have been annoyed by covering up my line art with opaque paints! my tip is to scan in your line art before you colour, then scan in the final piece and overlay the line-art on photoshop 😅 not perfect if you want to display or sell the original artwork but for creating prints and posting the digital scan it’s really cool

    As a painter, I FULLY recommend trying oil paints again. I love the detail and the complex shading that I can get with my oils that I can’t get with acrylic paint; and for your painting style, oil paint would work amazingly for you. I would also recommend using new oils to learn with. I started with my great grandmother’s 30+ year old oils and it was…definitely challenging to learn to paint with very stiff paint lol
