As always, thanks for the recap. I was greatly encouraged by the Mayor of Anaheim’s comments at start of the Half - and the fact that she ran Dumbo. Congratulations on all of you getting it done and getting your coast to coast. Glad I finally got to meet you at Marathon Weekend. Don't know if I will be doing runDisney again. I have to get back into trail running this year. If you can ever get up to Gettysburg, PA. I can steer you to some great trail races in the area. Thanks again for guiding me on my Dopey challenges!

This was my first Run Disney event. I started in corral D for the half marathon and ended up with a 2:03 finish time. I ran this race injured, but was motivated to run below their 2:15 time mark in hopes to be put into a earlier corral in future events. I will say I skipped the characters in the parks just because I thought there was going to be some on the highway miles so it was a bummer after to realize that in the park is the only place where the characters were. However, I would’ve stopped for Chip and Dale in the parks, because they are my son’s favorites right now, but the cast members were having us continue on. I loved all the in park miles (including backstage). The runners I was near were taking care of eachother by calling out pot holes or other dangers on the course so that was awesome for the dark portions. Im encouraged to do the challenge in September to get that 10K experience of more running in the park. I do wish they would’ve had the expo open after the half marathon so I could’ve went back and picked up an “I did it” shirt. I decided not to pick it up during bib pick up because I was worried my injury would stop me from finishing.
I also wanted to note with all due respect. If the message about getting swept is that it’s ok regardless of why then I would disagree. I admire the passion and heart of all the people on the busses who felt upset or some other form of negative emotion towards getting picked up. I do think we all agree that they should try again until they can complete their goal, but I would respectfully say you failed this one. Let’s come back stronger and more prepared for the next one. There was a lot of push back from the Run Disney community about people trying hard or taking it too seriously admittedly I am far on the side of taking everything physically challenging seriously, but I don’t think it should be looked at in a negative light as long as we are all being respectful and considerate to each other.

Great show and recap enjoyed it. I had a great time running it as well they just need to change how they are starting AWD. As aAWD I is a big safety issue

Nova 9 miles is fantastic! Another acquaintance of mine pulled herself during the half at marathon weekend and made a great post about normalizing the DNF and how even the pros will pull themselves if they aren’t feeling it. You all are so right, “just trying” takes great amounts of courage. Here’s to your next DL race Nova you will get that finish! And my side note is I did enjoy the 10k at Disneyland very much ❤ now just to get that coast to coast…. 😉
While I totally agree that they need to get more course entertainment, characters, and photopass, but having run disneyland from 2014-2017, I found it pretty on par with how it's always been. It was very nostalgic for me and will always be at DL for runs until they stop again haha. I also did Dopey to Dumbo, 71 miles. It was epic, and had a great time! See you all for Halloween! (Also, we can't have fire at the start in CA! Haha, fire+CA=BAD)
