I'm hoping coach Mark Few does what Baylor has done , because with a solid 10 man rotation is way better than a tired out 7 man rotation plus need some physical players on the team they was bullied against Baylor & really don't understand when Zags was getting out rebounded he didn't use Ballo or the other 7 footer on the bench can't spell his name they are bigger & more physical than Timme, Kispert, Watson that's just my opinion
Baylor is not a 10 man rotation. They ran an 8 man rotation all season. Ballo and Zakharov wouldn’t have been absolutely blitzed by the speed of that game. Neither were comfortable with the speed of a WCC game and this was completely different than that. Baylor’s guards have incredible on ball defense and they forced early pickups by our ball handlers which allowed them to increase their pressure. Our defense was worried to crash the board since all of Baylor’s guards shoot 40% from 3 as well. We’ll have a full breakdown of what happened in this game on Monday!
Guessing Ben Gregg will take more time to develop then? Can't forget about Ballo as well. Does feel like a bit of a log jam of bigs. Feel like the volume of names there might make more bigs think twice about the zags.
Gregg is extremely talented and will be a great player, but he also projects to more of a PF. Kessler is a true center and will be able to play alongside a number of different players in the front court
i disagree with the starting lineup prediction, i think it's pretty much guaranteed that Sallis and Holmgren would be starting, Kessler might actually come off the bench but still play 25 minutes. The team is going to be extremely deep next season
Could definitely see that happening! If all of the expected commits happen, Few will have an embarrassment of riches to work with. Few has always leaned on experience in his starting 5, however, these guys all have the talent to start no doubt
Agreed, regardless of if he is listed as a PF or SF, he would definitely be the wing player if all three of them are on the court at the same time. Hopefully we get to see it!
Really don't understand why Strawther didn't start over Nembhard because he's a taller physical guard that can shoot the ball really well, pass the ball & play defense & don't why coach Mark Few didn't pull Kispert put in Ben Gregg taller, more physical forward that weighs more & can play just as good as Kispert & Zags wasn't gonna beat Baylor with a tired 7 man rotation that was really tired from UCLA overtime win because Baylor has a solid 10 man rotation that had fresher legs for the game
I doubt he’s transferring because his “pride was hurt”. He may be looking for a better fit and Gonzaga has a very good recent history of developing bigs
@@upperleftsports Honestly, he wasn't getting the minutes he wanted. And he knew how he would be utilized before he stepped foot on campus. What do you think is going to happen if he's doing the samething at another institution? He's going to sit like he did at Carolina. Some of these kids need to be told the truth. You aren't that guy anymore. Especially when you have others who were "that guy" at one point in there lives.
He had two forced COVID quarantines before the season which took away valuable practice time. He was also in a packed front court where Williams had preferences over him. Against #11 FSU he had 20/8/4 on 9-10 FG. Against ND he had 16 points, 12 boards, and 8 blocks. To act like he’s not good enough to get time is ridiculous in my opinion. Whether it’s at Gonzaga or somewhere else, he can do well in the right situation. He is a young kid with a ton of potential still.
But Zags have Chet & other recruits in the next 3-4 years so if good players from teams like North Carolina etc. Will be ok if they're willing to split up minutes in Mark Fews team & no ball hogs allowed look at Suggs he shares the ball with everyone no selfish players on Zags
JOEL AYAYI Should come back. I think he is in a similar position to what Nigel William-Goss was in. If Nigel had come back, I think he would have gotten more attention and probably have been drafted. Cook and Ayayi in the back court would be scary good.
To be fair, NWG was drafted late in the second round by the Utah Jazz. That being said, definitely agree that Ayayi could see a huge rise up the draft boards with one more year!
@@upperleftsports Sorry Nigel. It's such a difficult decision to make so early in life. You're still making gobs of money. Chet, Salis, Kaden Perry & some big guy from China really tall athletic so Zags look really good & just need more guards with the tall guys don't know how many guys Mark Few can have on the team possibly 18 but I could be wrong
I believe it’s 13 available scholarships any given year. The other big you are referring to is Fanbo Zeng. We did a video on him earlier this year, check it out cause he’s going to be good!
@@upperleftsports 13 but they have more than 13 on the roster right now & they have really good players they rarely use 7 man rotation & I think have 4 guards they could use against teams like Baylor that mostly use 4 or 5 guards
What do you guys feel about Chet? The longer he doesn’t commit, the more nervous I get that he goes the pro route. He was supposed to commit last month, im worried the gleague is offering him an insane amount of money
He previously said he’d like to announce by the end of his season. We had reported that was March 12th, however, he is currently still in playoffs. The sectional playoff final in Minnesota is tomorrow night. He’s been pretty set on going to college in the past, but nothing wrong with a kid taking his time either!
I'm concerned with all the complaints about treating sports that produce income for the school equally with those that don't, More and more players are going to take the pro route. If I am an athlete, attending on a scholarship, do I want to lose that? The Ivy League doesn't offer athletic scholarships, maybe none should. If it meant more academic scholarships maybe it would be a good thing but it won't because the schools won't be able to afford it.
Concerning 5 star recruits, what if Gonzaga made it mandatory that you would have to stay AT LEAST 2 years in the program. Gonzaga's success seems to be centered around teamwork, not individuals.
Great video. I think it's 60-40 on Timme coming back next year. Love the guy, but part of me hopes he moves on so we can more efficiently develop others bigs like Ballo. With Holmgren being the big that can shoot from deep I'm not sure how much another year at Gonzaga will do for Timme. Wow, just saying that makes me realize how spoiled we all are to be Zags fans. An embarrassment of riches like you said. Fingers crossed on Sallis' decision tomorrow. Go Zags!
The Hunter announcement will hopefully be a great start to our weekend! Those are probably fair odds on Timme as of now. If he continues his pace and the Zags make a deep run in the tourney I can see those odds shifting the other way.
Gosh i can't even wrap my mind around how the line-up would be looking next year if all the pieces fall. We are talking about a team that would potentially out-do the current team off depth alone. With the options to put Ayayi, Cook, Sallis, Nembhard, Watson, Kessler, Ballo, Gregg, Strawthar, Harris on the floor😰😰😰. And honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see Timme back. He is playing his way into the first round convo. But NBA execs pretty much are kinda locked in on certain guys for the lottery pick. I think he could be like Clark. Still being a first round pick, but Clark would of been a lottery guy a year later. If that's important to Timme he will come back. If no then he will leave. I could see a team like the Spurs drafting him. He is a tough team-first guy like Ginoboli, Duncan, Robinson; like Pop likes em. And he could replace Lamarcus Aldridge who is about to get bought out.
He’s shootist 33.3% on the season, albeit low volume. Highly doubt if he came back he would be adding a higher volume of 3pt shots to his game (based on what the Zags offense would need from him). NBA scouts can see his mechanics this year and already know they can more than likely work with it. I’d love to see him back, but if he keeps up his play in the tourney I think he’s got a strong chance of leaving
Timme is not leaving unless Few tells him to go elsewhere. Yes, dude doesn't have anything left to prove, but does not mean NBA teams want a 6-10 guy with no athleticism or jump shot. Love your CBB takes, but ya'll must not follow the NBA. Good Zags content though!
Can’t ever see Few telling a kid to go elsewhere, that’s not really how he operates. I know you’ve disagreed for quite a while on Timme and that’s perfectly cool! Best part about sports is the debate in my opinion. I watch plenty of NBA and have for many years. Timme I’m sure will enter his name and the feedback he gets will more than likely determine his decision. He’s shooting 33% from deep this year (on low volume), but he’s given scouts tape to see his mechanics. NBA still largely values youth and potential. Timme is not likely to get more athletic with another year, and if he comes back he’s probably not going to be taking many more 3’s (the offense just doesn’t really call for that). He’s now the 34th prospect on NBAdraft.net (projected 39th pick). This is not just us trying to create a take from nothing. If he continues his tourney pace and the Zags make a deep run, he will be on other draft boards. All in all, I love discussing different opinions. If Timme is back, we will be more than happy to continue to watch him play. Appreciate you watching and following along!
