For big wave surfers you should drive along the coast - Sintra, Ericeira, Peniche, Nazaré ( especially praia do norte). This is the portuguese surfing circuit. Not only are beautiful towns and very typical, you'll find a lot of friends doing van trips just like you :)
If you're going from south to north of Portugal you can not miss Galicia (Spain, just above portugal). It's the most beautiful cost in Spain with more than 700 beaches. I would definitely recommend going to the Cathedrals Beach, it is just amazing!
Wild We Roam 🙌Yes! the Basque Country is absolutly beautiful! I also suggest you two going to Mundaka and find “the wave”. Also the surf shop owner there is a very interesting australian man, Craig Sage, and can tell you many stories. There is also a very unique basque surfer who is blind, his name is Aitor Francesena and surfs in Zarautz. I will think about more info! Love your videos!!!!!💕
This trip is gonna be amazing! I am from South America so I can't help on this one but can't wait to see all the amazing people and stories that you are going to tell!
Fire trick ... get about a 2 foot length of aluminum or steel tubing around a 1/4 inch in diameter. It will allow you to direct your blowing to a small area without having to be close to the fire. Works especially well under damp or wet conditions.
Thanks Norm! What an incredible idea, so so simple but I would have never thought of it and now that I know it I've just got to find a metal tube and try it out as soon as possible because that sounds so so cool! ---LOu
Probably any place that sells brake-line or air-compressor parts would have some. I suspect bigger or small pipe would also work, but would require a little bit more wind! :-)
Following you, of course on Instagram and so on, but just now trying to get caught up on the videos. The most important part! Your time in this cottage seems like such a sweet dream. And I love what you said about the ritual of collecting firewood, so wonderful. Your plan for the travels with the van sound simply amazing. Can’t wait to see what comes of it! :-)
Thank you so much for your sweet comment :) I'm so glad you were able to find the time to catch up with the videos as it really is the heart and soul of our creativity. Hope life in Florida is treating you two well! big hugs from Portugal, Dana
Still working on the catch up, but you really were a storm of productivity getting to the comment backlog! Florida is a delight of discovery, new rituals, lovely weather, new people. :-) Hugs right back!
There is a town near San Sebastian, a small-ish fishing village called Getaria. They have a beautiful restaurant called the Mayflower, 2 stunning beaches, one more for swimming and one more for surfing. You can do a lovely hike early in the morning to watch the sunset from what is called ' the little mouse'. It is fabulous to stay at for easy access to San Sebastian and Zarautz. I have stayed there for a couple of weeks and loved it. Don't be afraid to ask any questions. Carmela xoxo P.S. if you head to London again, would be a wonderful tour guide, just drop a message. ;)
Thanks so much Carmela! Morning hikes are our favorite! We will add it to the list. Not sure when we will be in London again but the help is much appreciated! ---Lou
Tomar in Portugal! Not that far from Sintra, my two aunties live there for quite a bit of the year and come back to the UK. It’s such a pretty, underrated town with an amazing history of the Monastery which overlooks the town and further. Definitely worth even just a day trip
Grateful for the stick graveyard, love those Ikea bags, they hold so much. Sorry you lost your power...the monsoon has to end soon. Time to draw and time to plan your next adventure...maybe the monsoon was a blessing in disguise.
There's a super sweet resturant in Barcelona called "Irati" that you have to check out. I went there a couple of years ago with my friends driving from Sweden to Malaga. Also, you should definitely chat with some europeans with vacation homes in Spain. There's a ton in the area you're in. Especially in Fuengirola. Some people live there for 6 months every year. And a lot end up moving there almost permanently.
Thanks for the tip! We almost never eat out and probably wouldn't be able to eat anything there since were vegan ; ) but it looks beautiful! It's true about the expats here in Spain, you almost here as much English around here as Spanish! ---Lou
I live in Durango, between Bilbao and San Sebastian. Surrounded by beautiful mountains and close to the coast. I would definitely love to show you or point out to a few beautiful locations if you are interested :)
Hi Sophie! For sure, we will do the south coast after Barcelona on the way to Rome and Venice, can't wait to see that part of France for the first time! ---Lou
So, so cool! If you ever need a bed (or some help with the van?) for a night or more between Nîmes and Montpellier in a house tucked between olive trees and vineyards, please let us know ! Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy your trip and I can't wait to see the videos :) Much love
Hello, best places in Porto, Portugal. Torre dos clérigos (cheap entry fee), Ponte Luís I, and walk near the river called Ribeira. you should eat Francesinha in Santiago café.
Hi!! I’m from Bilbao and I a analog photographer too, i love your channel, if you want to know some beautiful places at Bilbao, let me know! I would love to take pictures with you!
Hello guys! Portuguese fan here! I have one advice for you. In Alentejo, Portugal there's an ecological community called Tamera. I think they would welcome you for sure over there. They have really interesting sustainable projects going on. And since I am from Porto, I would love to show you my city :) BTW, I'm an electronic engineer, so if you need help or advices with the electrical part of your awesome Van, please let me know. Love, Zé
and over the next year you guys drive along the coast of france, belgium, and the netherlands? i really want you 2 come visit my home! you are so welcome here in the netherlands
Thanks Rob! I've heard the Netherlands are pretty terrible for campervans because its illegal to wildcamp but I'm sure we will be checking it out at some point once we want a break from wildcamping and want to try out some campsites : ) ---Lou
You should pass through Gerês (Parque Nacional de Peneda Gerês/ Peneda Gerês National Park) in portugal, and maybe you could do the shale paths too, if you look for it on google then write in portuguese "Caminhos de Xisto" or "Aldeias de Xisto" it will show more results. (Ex. aldeiasdoxisto.pt/category/caminhos-do-xisto
Wild We Roam yeah a drone view of those places will look wonderful. But i must warn you, theres vry few vegan restaurants out of the main cities like lisbon and porto, etc
Hey! Have a wonderful trip, i cant wait to see videos! :) I just found your youtube channel and instagram and im super exited for you both! You probably know these websites but here they are anyways in case you dont: www.couchsurfing.com its great for meeting new people and help not just a place to stay. Also pretty cool: en.campspace.com/ that i havent used myself yet, but im planning in the future (the website used to be different then now it seems, but still looks interesting). I bet some of the places would host people with a van and you can find places that are not on google (so easy to find at least). And if you ever come to visit Finland (not many people do) there is so much to see. Beautiful countryside and parks all around Finland where you can stay with a van! We have lot of lakes and little island in the South. Lapland in the north is also beautiful. Hit me up with a message if you ever need any information about Finland or a host for your van. Have a great adventure! - Tiia
Hi Tiia, thanks so much for all the recommendations, the campspace site looks really really cool : ) We'd love to come to Finland actually but we just have to figure out when we can make that happen because it would have to be in the summer cause the van can't handle that type of cold! ---Lou
Can’t wait to see what this brings!
Thanks Ben! Just uploaded the next build video! ---Lou
What a stunning cottage and location .
Thanks Harold! It really is incredible! The views are stunning but the weather is a bit rough ; ) ---Lou

You should definitely visit "Gaztelugatxe" and "Zumaia" in the Basaque Country, very photo worthy!
The first one was already on our list ; ) but the second one is new and very exciting, so thank you for that : ) ---Lou

Should you come by way of Denmark later on, I’d recommend the island of Fanø for its traditional folk music scene. Good luck on your journeys!
Thanks so much for the recommendation, I'd love to record some folk music live ; ) ---Lou

Ourense in Galicia has fantastic free hot springs, as well as lovely Roman architecture and an ancient cathedral.
Wow Sandra that sounds incredible! I've actually been really looking forward to exactly those two things so thanks so much for the tip! ---Lou
