I ended up keeping it and they asked me to submit a review. I gave it three stars in a mildly critical but fair review with both positives and negatives. I was saddened to see they didn’t post it because it makes me question the company’s integrity. Because of that, this will be the lone piece I ever order from Schaefer Outfitters. Got the Huckberry shirt jacket because of your video. I love that one so much I ordered a second in another color. Thank you for you videos.
Do NOT do business with Schaefer anymore. They are nothing like the company they used to be. Quality has gone downhill, sizing is off and work is outsourced. Worst of all, the prices have gone up!
Yes, Schaefer seems to be following the "Filson" model...move their manufacturing overseas. I had been looking at 3-4 of their waxed cotton jackets and coats. They were all out of stock for quite awhile, many months. Then when they restocked last month, all of their Rangewax jackets/coats are shown as being imported from Turkey. Filson's waxed cotton coats are also shown as now being imported from Turkey.
I heard that they had been bought out and this would fall in line with a maximize short term revenue model based on historical reputation. Sad to see it happen.
I have a Schaefer waxed duster from about 2016 that’s made in the USA. I’ve never worn it and it’s still like new. I think I’ll be holding on to that one 🇺🇸 😁
I did keep it. For the money, I am disappointed with it bit I do like the jacket. I don’t think it will hold up to a work environment and I don’t like the darker color. Thin material and not much wax. Plastic zippers. They definitely cut some corners. I paid more for the Tom Beckbe, but it is worth every penny. My grandkids will be able to wear that thing. I upsized to layer and it keeps me pretty warm tbh. I believe this is just my opinion and there are probably tons of people that think it is spectacular.
Just sent this jacket back. Yes, it is much darker than the one featured here. It is as dark as the lining you see on this jacket. I am not sure if the sizing has changed, but I am 5-9 with a 44" chest and a rather large wingspan for my height. The medium was too tight and the large was too big. I will say this though. 5 stars to Schafer for working with me without complaint processing my exchange and return.

That’s what happens when you outsource your work to a third world country. You lose quality control
