The Green Room was such a great show. The Patrice O’Neal is a classic. The one thing they sadly cut out of this video was Bo performing “Art is Dead” for them. It’s an awesome moment watching all these old school giants be legitimately into something a 20 year old kid is doing.
Also, you gotta peep some Garry Shandling! Dude was incredible.
    Keep ‘em coming!
    Cheers

that show with Garry Shandling, Ray Romano, Marc Maron, and Bo Burnham - shm - so much comedy talent in one room from different generations is amazing

In the 90s, I worked in comedy with 3 of the guys at that table. It's nice to see Gary Shandling find Buddism. One of my jobs at one point had me sitting with him/hanging out with him and keeping him both distracted and focused enough to do two - three shows a night and not have panic attacks or get in his head.
No, it wasn't weird or sexual. And he was hardly the only headliner in my years at comedy clubs to need this.
I have been following Bo since he was 15/16. He is a genius.
By not doing the clubs, he also didn't pick up a lot of the coping mechanism - bad & good older road comics have. He also did not build up that in the trenches comraderie. The resentment among a lot of stand ups was palpable. And don't let the bon ami on stage here fool you. Some of these folks are the most insecure, attention whore Mean Girls you will ever meet.
But maybe they'll grow of it.

Brilliant therapy session, good jabs thrown and taken by all. Some people can write, but it's nice to see a group of people so sharp all at once. Like the comment about how they were all racing towards the same joke but trying to wait long enough for it to be funny, but.. someone has to say the thing and only one person gets to say it first haha

You should definitely check out more interviews with Bo! I'm just so fascinated with how his brain works! There are some good compilations out there with titles like "Bo Burnham Interview Moments that Make Me Wheeze" and things like that.

Those Green Room shows are amazing. It's a really cool round table format and the shows were all great imo. I love that style of roasting each other too, old school east coast comedy or whatever you'd call it. Like you said, they're so sharp and no one is safe

    Rip Gary
I heard he was one of the most supportive and nicest guys to other comics..giving them a chance to rise up through his show or other projects.

We lost Gary Shandling in 2016 unfortunately. He had a very dry but hilarious sense of humor.

“That’s a dead end” was slick a bar and a half. I don’t even know if he intended the word play

You have to watch the Patrice O’Neal episode of the green room. Btw the guy you really liked is named Gary Shandling and he’s a very funny comedian. He played voice of fern the turtle from the movie over the hedge.

That "white sock" comment paired with "how the word works" feels like an INSIDE joke.

    • @TracyKelton
      @TracyKelton ปีที่แล้ว +1

This was almost 10 years before Inside, but it does give that feel. Even when he says no one wants to hear a 20 year old tell you how the world works, which is the title of the song with socko
