Regarding the shedding question, I think another factor is that a lot of us keep our hair in protective styles (braids, twists, buns, etc.) and aren’t brushing through our hair every single day like people with straight hair, so that hair that sheds everyday is “trapped.” We only really notice it when we take the style out and detangle! People who have straight hair/wear their hair straight have their shed hairs falling out without paying any mind to it so that’s why it might seem like natural hair sheds more😊

Gorgeous gal! So, my hair was always itchy when I had a perm (just permed or not). When I became natural almost 3 years ago, the level of itchiness has decreased. My hair is only itchy when it's time to get that wash. I find it interesting that I do not itch on a daily or every other day basis anymore. I believe the ingredients in the perm affected my scalp, of course. #Teamnatural

13:44 I disagree there are plenty of type 4 women who wear wash and go and retain length in the shruken state it just needs a different approach. Might want to wash daily or every other day with lots conditioner.
My hair shedded with my relaxed hair my roommate hated seeing my hair all over the place scalp was itchy so I don’t see no difference just more aware now
Sadly, my hair grew much better relaxed. Probably because I have very fine, high porosity hair. It tangles so so badly and easily. It’ll tangle and knot up if I look at it. When relaxed it never tangled.

I think our hair seems to shed more because it is stuck in there until we detangle.
