Check some of their other hits such as "A World of Our Own"; "I'll Never Find Another You", or "Morningtown Ride". Yes, "Georgie Girl" was a movie in the 60s.
They were the biggest band in the world when they performed this concert in their home city of Melbourne. My mum, sister and I were part of that 200,000 crowd.
"The Carnival is Over" is on my list of the twelve saddest and most beautiful love songs ever recorded. Along with "Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro "You Gave Me a Mountain" by Elvis "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt, '"The Last Time I Saw Her Face" by Glen Campbell, "Separate Ways" by Elvis, "Don't Cry Daddy" by Elvis, "My Boy" by Elvis, "Yesterday When I Was Young" by Roy Clark, "The Greatest Man" by Reba McIntyre, "What Now My Love" by Elvis.
That aerial view was of an outdoor amphitheatre here in Melbourne where i grew up. The seekers were extremely popular, but I don’t remember seeing them live. I did see Abba at this venue though!
The Seekers were an Australian folk group that was very popular charting most of their hits in the mid to late 1960s. I was born in 1962, but hearing "Georgy Girl" along with other songs on the radio in 1968 is one of my earliest musical memories. The female lead singer, Judith Durham, had a lovely pure voice (sadly, she passed away just a couple of years ago). This song was the title song of a movie of the same name starring Lynn Redgrave in the title role, also with actor Michael Caine. An even better song of theirs and my favorite was their first "I'll Never Find Another You" from 1965. Perhaps you will react to that one sometime. I enjoy your channel.
@@mancyank564 Yes, indeed -- James Mason! Thanks very much for the correction. I remember the film shown on TV in 1970 when I was an 8-year old kid and I was relying on poor memory. That was the only time I saw it and I should have looked it up before posting. Thanks, again.
True but this Australian Group came to London in the Mid 1960's to seek world fame and fortune as London then was the world capital of Music, Theatre and The Arts, and the accompanying film(this is the title track) depicts that:)
Clapping held until the end because people didn't want to miss any of a great performance, especially Pop/Folk, or that is the way I remember it, at least. This was in Australia, Melbourne, I believe.
I was born in 1962, and this is probably the first song I have memory of. I remember my parents playing it on a 45 rpm record. I haven't heard it since I was 5, and it's surprising how much more sense it makes now. My 5 year old mind didn't understand the metaphors like "you're always window shopping but never stopping to buy." I thought she was actually looking at store windows.🤣
This was one of my favorite songs growing up. Another one that I like just as well in the same time frame was Alfie from the movie by the same name. I think Michael Caine was in it, but I don’t think I ever saw the movie just loved this song!😅
This is a studio recording, time adjusted to synch the lips, over the actual Myer Music Bowl performance. The actual performance was stunning, but stage recording wasn’t as good as this. Also, notice how far Judith is from the microphone. She has such a powerful voice.
😅 lol...boy did you take a step back in time!!! Please react to Kasey Chambers doing a cover of Eminem's song, Lose Yourself...you will never forget it...Eminem didn't...he ❤'d it...
🔥🔥🔥 “Josh Tatofi - Perfect to Me” & “Big Every Time (B.E.T) - All you need is Love”🔥🔥🔥 A little island vibe muzik with some R&B blend.. I promise you’ll like it😉🤙🏽🔥
Largest TV audience for a musical group in the history of Australia and the largest crowd ever recorded for a music concert in Australia.

Australians are truly proud of Judith Durham. What a voice. She has just recently passed, but we will never forget her. No one sings like her.
That girl has a great voice.
Her name was Judith Durham. Sadly, she passed away a couple of years ago.
There is a movie that song came from Titled Georgy Girl it's really good.
Lynn Redgrave was great in the movie
I loved that movie. Made me feel sad but it was sooo good.
Judith had a wonderful voice. Pure.
❤The Seekers!!!
Hey my friend back in the day we opened doors for ladies and we held hands with our chicks. Tx. Rock on bro. Texas
I loved the Seekers songs when I was growing up

This song doesn't get old. Transcends age and time.

And that was a free concert!

You got the correct film and lead actress, but Michael Caine wasn't in it. James Mason, Alan Bates and Bill Owen were the 3 main actors.

You're welcome. We all get things wrong from time to time.
I remember this song as a kid. Nice to see those who've never heard the old stuff react. 😊
The juxtaposition of all these upbeat songs during the Vietnam war really was surreal.

I listen and watch them all the time. I'll be 63 next week.
Hope you have a fantastic birthday!
Thank you very much for sir. Texas
The carnival is over and turn, turn , turn by the Seekers is good also
Wasn’t Turn, turn, turn by the Byrds? I had all the Seekers’ LPs and my brother had The Byrds and The Shadows (cliff Richard’s band). So long ago…

The Melbourne Music Bowl Aust performance. This song sold well in the US.
Oldie but goodie! Thanks!!
There not pretenders like autotune artist. Pure harmony and it doesn't bug like autotune

Where did this come from? Lol...Here is a good one from the 60's....Duke of Earl by Gene Chandler..
Please🙏✌️💞
