    Bob Dylan is one of the best Folk singers to come out of the U.S.A. and he's also my inspiration for picking up an Acoustic guitar and playing Folk versions of songs that inspired me to play the guitar since I was in High School and on above all he's one of my Elder States Men and I mean STATE because Bob Dylan was born in Minnesota And so was I there's an age differance though because Bob Dylan's in his 70's and I'm 27 and I'll be 28 in 3 months.

    This is and has been my favorite Musician, Songwriter, person, since I was in High School. You could take only the Music he made in the 1960's and that alone would be enough to be considered one of the most influential Artists of all-time. I mean, I watched the Sam Cooke Documentary on Netflix and there is a part where I am not sure if it was Cooke, but the line was something like "This white boy from Minnesota is doing more for the Civil Rights movement than we are" and taken as just the one sentence most would just say, "um, ok," but it just showed that a white boy, man, etc, was just as determined to get the word out that things had to change and were not going to if you just sat on your ass and did nothing! When I first listened to "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" I really had no words to describe how powerful and how much emotion came out of every song. When you get into that topic of the greatest songwriters of all time (and I am not going into some of the very Early Bluesmen because they could have their own list and without them, music would not evolve and exist as it does today) you always get the Lennon was, McCartney was, this that. But Dylan...Dylan didnt just sing about love and holding hands, etc. He didnt talk about gettin no satisfaction or paint it black...he wrote and sang about how this was a new generation and that they had the power to affect change, that there were battles right here in the South, the North, the East and West for equality...I am not a Political Theorist and probably already tried to hard. But those of you that are fans of Dylan know what I am saying.

    • @kc2094
      @kc2094 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad they used live footage though. Dylan makes a lot more sense in the live context because he changes around everything so damn often. Each performance is different. And just hearing the studio albums is getting a small fraction of the picture. I mean there's like 10 versions of each song that are wildly different, at least for his mid 60s and mid 70s work

    • @kc2094
      @kc2094 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dylan is known as the greatest songwriter of all time, almost universally. Even to people that don't listen or don't like his voice, they know he's really a big deal. As for his personality, he's very reclusive. And he was very definant in those early days after starting rock music.

    Good job Mojo! I know you had to keep it short. In Rolling Stone magazine's top 500 albums of all time, Highway 61 Revisited was #2 and Blonde on Blonde #8. He had several others in there. And in their edition of the top 500 songs of all time, Like a Rolling Stone was #1. And, I am not sure what organization did this in 2000, but Like a Rolling Stone was voted #1 as the most important song, or influential song, of the 20th century. And not to get picky, but Blonde on Blonde just happened to come out about one week after his motorcycle accident. Being a huge fan, I just found this out myself: Blonde on Blonde, (B.O.B.), was the first double album ever.

    Common schizophrenic personalities, Bob Dylan, Lennon and of course the all time favourite Jesus (my dad has been all three and no I'm not kidding).
    My dad wrote songs and composed on his guitar but after hitting the lsd hard in the 70's and a lot of heavy weed use he never quite made it.

    • @DoctorZisIN
      @DoctorZisIN 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your dad had multiple personality disorder, which is different from schizophrenia. If your dad went to the pub every day and had beers with Jesus, Bob Dylan and John Lennon, that would be schizophrenic. BTW, can I have an autograph of each?

    • @chrysalis72
      @chrysalis72 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Grafight23 Hahaha, yeah I'm sure he would be happy to oblige and yes, I question the accuracy of the psychiatrist diagnosis. There is no physical proof for any mental health problem and every persons psychology is unique, I dont like labels for people.
      He has his times of lucidity too, and to be honest, he is such a bloody good storyteller sometimes I know for certain he is playing a part. He makes up rhymes and music on his guitar to depict them. He has shown he understands what has happened to him. He wrote a song about the time he had thinking the dog was a reincarnated deity, the lines went like below (This is mid song obviously)
      "If you waste all your time remembering hard times remembering all those sad and bad times you know youve got the blues and you just started thinking screw ball,
      You've got to think my dog is just like something special, oh yeah, and if I told you now I worship my dog dont think its heavy metal,
      cause the dog dont know it any better ,even if i told it letter by letter and you know yourself, rock and soul aint dogs.
      Thats a few lyrics, its a good tongue in cheek laugh at himself.
      On being released from hospital having regained his sanity ( I say this loosely) he was aware of the stigma and the old biddies talking about him, so he decided to give them a show.
      He went to the Army surplus store and kitted himself out with the complete nutter's attire on purpose. He bought a Nazi storm troopers full length coat, army khakis and boots, then topped it with a cowboy hat then strutted past with a big smile and a hello ladies! Their jaws dropped to the floor and it gave them all something to gossip about.
      All the family (himself included) were laughing our arse's off when he came in and shut the door. That is his sense of humour and personality and I admire him for that ability to find comedy in what was a dark situation. He just refuses to be a victim and instead just embraces his faults by unashamedly becoming the character!
      He is in fact a really intelligent, fun personality and he would give the shirt off his back just to make another person happy. The ultimate hippy.
      Brilliant character and guitar player he is, even if he would give the house contents to the poorer neighbour or bring back half the psyche ward to the house and burn the kitchen down making weed laced baking.
      Bob Dylan doesn't have a look in when it comes to the real Brian Mccafferty.

    • @chrysalis72

      Aurelien Barriol i think he just preferred to get stoned with dylan and lennon, i mean who wouldnt? these were the guys who were behind films like cheech and chong, the movie where they go a road trip on a columbian bus, its stashed to the hilt with marijuana and sitting in it for hours makes them high as a kite, one point in it they toss a fag and it lights the bundles of weed and the police come to help them put it out and end up wasted themselves to the point they let them go on there way without arressting them, its hilarious, a road trip story involving people frying their brain repeatedly and not knowing their van they hired is packed with drugs, i think its like the southamericans want the load across the border into america and these teenagers and young adult kids think they are getting a deal of a lifetime just to drive this 60's style or scooby doo style van. The hash is in the walls under the floor, i mean they pack this van till it can hardly move and they still dont catch on until they wind up in all kind of odd situations because they are too stoned to realise what they are doing, hilarious.I think napoleon was all military and small man syndrome, you know how it is, they say men who are really short with really small penis's overcompensate with the masculinity, translation, becoming a bit of a bastard for power.

    • @chrysalis72
      @chrysalis72 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I really think the best attitude to have in life is one of owning your shit, not being a hypocrite or being so afraid of others opinion that you have to hide your true self. Authentic is awesome and people respect you for being truthful and usually see past your faults coz noone is perfect.
      Im not ashamed of my dad in any way, infact i am PROUD to be his daughter.
      People are more than just their medical issues, they have soul,kindness and an amazing capacity to understand and grow.
      A person who has faced serious issues and has a big heart for others is worth twenty suits that led a hum drum no risk life.
      People with experience and survive, are the salt of this earth.
      Humiliation just doesnt work with people who can laugh at themselves, their positivity is contageous and their understanding of the human condition second to none.
      These are the people who give a lift to the hobo thumbing a lift or who give their change to the buskers, im not sorry i made mistakes as everyone built my character and made me the person i am today, totally harmless and never judging anyone to put them down. Being like this makes me an open vessel for even strangers to pour their troubles to, i dont mind a bit and im glad people come to me knowing im a safe person to confide in. My love is unconditional to all humanity and i dont give a fiddlers fart what income bracket they are or what issues they have, they are human and as long as you have boundaries and a good sense of self respect,noone gets the chance to exploit good nature. Its all a balance, i have a homeless guy i was giving change to everyday until i hit some financial issues, i have to tell him no money or fags, the last time i saw him i told him so and he said he respected my honesty which is more respectful and decent than people in better lifestyles than he has have done.
      I never walk past him, nor him i, every morning as i do my shopping and go for a coffee i see him and i dont step over or ignore the homeless either, even if i have nothing more than a smile or good morning, they are human beings too. I would like nothing more than to see every one of them in trauma therapy having their self esteem and aspirations rooted out. Everyone has a talent or gift and everyone is worth saving.
      The backgrounds of the homeless are usually through lack of love and connection in the world.
      I am not unaware that truly evil people exist but your average busker or beggar is hardly your first class criminal mind or he would be a lawyer or something lol
      Rereading this post about my dad really makes me want to contribute some time to the homeless food and clothing charity that operates from a local church. I think I could offer maybe something to help people learn about self care and potentially process abuse as ive researched a book for two years on psychology. I guess the first step to realising what i want to do, is to go out and do outreach with my knowledge using compassion, noone else cares how these people feel but i do. Id have a truck load of good clothing and furniture to offer too, yes thats my goal tommorow before i print out some chapters in the library.
      Sorry i write too much, its a habit being an intense reader now turned writer officially, but, I love it,its creative and occasionally im amazed at the ideas and clarity of mind that channel through my mind into the stuff i write.

    In the "No Direction Home" Documentary, Joan Baez talks about just one time, maybe a day or two, when Dylan just sat at his typewriter and typed page after page of his thoughts or what came to him and this just shows his brilliance, he took all of this and wrote some of the greatest songs in history. Now, I say this because I have my own opinion, but Allen Ginsberg had said something along the lines of Dylan being this Prophet or like a Lightning Rod and it just flowed through him and nobody else. I can agree with some of that, but to me he was writing songs and singing about what was happening at the time and during a time that nobody would dare question the government. Sam Cooke, before he was killed tragically, heard Blowing in the Wind and not in a angry and spiteful way, but in a way of admiration. "This white boy is out there singing songs about the Civil Rights movement, why aren't we?" He hated being called a protest singer because it wasnt about that, it as about just listening and helping to change the wrongs that were happening. I did not have the chance to live in those early days of the 1960's and only found Dylan as a 14 year old pot smoking High School kid while my friends were listening to the DOors and Floyd, etc. But Dylan, to this day i can listen to any one of his songs and it always makes me feel different or as though I hadnt heard a part before. "Only a Pawn in Their Game" was GENIUS...The Beatles would never have wrote and played that. And then in 65 released Highway 61 Revisited and it blew the world away. Gotta love Bob Dylan, he wrote and sang and did what he wnated to, not what he was told to

    Overall a truly nice video and summary of the Master, Bob Dylan. But one thing annoyed me. The man has light-years of musical compilations, including releases, tours and broadcasts. But for some reason, the video shows the song title "Thunder On The Mountain" endlessly. "I think, we better talk this over . . . ". Yes, "let it be me" to point this out.
