Great ride! I'm 70 and currently self quarantined due to covid-19 but was lucky enough to have purchased a commercial spin bike prior to the pandemic. My husband & I visited the national parks on an amazing road trip last September for our 50th anniversary and felt bad that we hadn't planned any bike rentals along the way. Thank you for making that dream possible - each day I bike somewhere else in the US and world and pray that all of it stays as beautiful as captured by wonderful people like yourself! Stay safe & healthy!!!

I have better tires now, and in [62] I try a gravel road and manage not to fall. Hooray!

Thanks for taking me along on this occasionally hazardous ride! Between the gravel road (with no guardrail), the gravel-covered area where you pulled off by the lake, and the gravel road where you took a spill (I hope you were OK!) it got a bit treacherous. Combine that with the rain and 56-degree temps and you really had your work cut out for you on this ride. If it's any consolation, there was a point where I thought I had ridden enough and was going to finish the rest another day, then I thought to myself "He's the one actually out there and I'm just in my basement on a trainer. There's no excuse for me not to finish this." So your mishaps were actually an inspiration for me to keep going. I look forward to our next ride!

I've given my spill considerable thought because it shouldn't have happened. I've made turns like that many times before without a problem. I finally concluded that it was an unnoticed slope of the entire surroundings that I failed to take into consideration. My helmet did a great job of protecting my head. Glad you were able to finish the ride with me.

@@JerrysScenicCycling Helmets work very well. I have a friend who fell crossing train tracks and landed squarely on her helmet. The helmet sustained a crack, her head was perfectly fine.

Wow! Ive never been to Colorado ... and as I'm on the long side of 70s, hiding from COVID in my house, this is as close as I'll get. I feel like I'm on a vacation!

Hi Susan, thanks for your concern. Just some road rash and gravel embedded in my skin. Maybe I better get a tetanus shot. Jerry

Ouch ! Hope it was only your pride and not your hide that hit the deck.

My hide took the worst of it. My pride is okay because nobody saw me fall and I'm not going to tell anyone.
