That's why wisdom is looked down upon and the wise were threatened by God in the Bible. Galileo was arrested, found guilty, and sentenced to a lifetime of house arrest because he stated that the earth orbited the sun. It took the church 500 years to recognize this wrong and apologize for it.
According to the Bible and all the violent zealots who ruled Europe during the Dark Ages God is repulsed by wisdom.

That is not in the Bible. You could not point to a single passage where that is quoted. You give me the chapter, the book, and the verse and I'll review.
I am more of the thought of the book of Exodus with the ten commandments. In there it says trust the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and soul and strength. And the second one says love your neighbor as yourself.
And there's a whole lot more passages in there about serving God and others, then helping yourself.
Such as the passages in Matthew when Jesus said " the meek shall inherit the earth... Blessed are the poor in spirit...."
The closest thing to what you're saying that's in the Bible would be when Paul the apostle told one of the churches he was writing to " he who does not work, does not eat"
And that was just an admonishment to the lazy freeloaders loafing around. Sloth is one of the cardinal sins. Even the Puritans, some of the most holy Christians of all time, encountered the problem of sloth in the colony of Jamestown.

Why? They chose to "believe." Guess their God didn't have their backs after all. A resistance man, woman, or child dying is a tragedy. Dying because you believe in fairy tales is called Darwinism. If you believe in myths, you are less logical. Logic is an important factor in survival. Therefore, the most logical are the fittest, and will survive. Nature is truly beautiful.

    • @nathanjones6638
      @nathanjones6638 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Wallace Lam I am profoundly suspicious of religion. As an Atheist, I do try to understand religion, however. My experience with most believers is that they use myths to justify bad behavior. Or to marginalize someone with whom a given faith disagrees. I live in the American South, to give context. So how does the illogical aspect come in? In dealing with zealots, I have had to think on their point for some time to rebut them. Here goes. A person who believes something without proof is not logical. There is no proof an invisible sky person exists. If a grown adult still believed in Santa Claus, would you not regard that person as illogical? It's not meant as an insult. Objectively speaking, belief without proof cannot be regarded as logical. Do you not agree? So why is belief in God any more acceptable logically than belief in the various holiday-related spirits are? Considering that blind belief is what drives the current crisis we are enmeshed in, do you not think it a point worth considering?

Modern and modest, 1st point is that everyone needs to understand the virus, what it can do, how it can spread and what to do to not only contract it but to not spread it if you potentially have it even if you don't know you have it yet. 2. If you understand the 1st point you dont need the government to force you to not be in close proximity with anyone outside your home without good reason (like going to buy supplies), which includes church. One can argue church is necessary, but if you are christian can open your bible and see that its not when you can't go (and in this Case its VERY unwise to go), same with Muslims, its encouraged to arrange yourself in the right direction of the mecca to pray when you can't go. Any serious religion has advice in place when you can't go to your place of worship. 3. The point that I brought up in the first place is that this guy I advising AGAINST what doctors around the world are telling you to do. Stay at home. Its that simple. The mere fact they congregating is a problem. We can sit and argue how many inches they are apart from one another but lets be clear, all the people in the video are not at home. And to answer your point about wallmart, going out to get supplies is unavoidable for Some people. I just want to finish off by saying that going against what doctors at advising is highly highly highly inconsiderate and selfish because they are the ones that suffer trying to save all those that have the disease (among other things they still have to do) and some are contracting it themselves and dying as a result. So if anyone, preacher, business owner or whoever is doing/saying things that could jeopardize themselves, those around them and doctors on call to help people, if they die from the very Same disease I sadly can't feel bad for them and hopefully more and more people are learning not to take this thing lightly, blood of Jesus or no

Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, "Jump in, I can save you."
The stranded fellow shouted back, "No, it's OK, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me."
    So the rowboat went on.
Then a motorboat came by. "The fellow in the motorboat shouted, "Jump in, I can save you."
To this the stranded man said, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith."
    So the motorboat went on.
Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, "Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety."
To this the stranded man again replied, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith."
So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.
Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, "I had faith in you but you didn't save me, you let me drown. I don't understand why!"
To this God replied, "I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?"

there’s an old story i heard in church once believe it or not, pastor was telling a story of a man who was told to evacuate from a coming storm, he didnt, house floods, a guy comes by in a lifted truck, asks him if he needs help “no, God will save me” another hour passes he is on his roof, guy in a boat comes by, same deal “no God will save me” soon he is hip deep in water on his roof, coast guard comes by in a helicopter, he refuses their help once more “God will save me” he inevitably dies, goes to heaven, and questions why God didnt save him. God replies “you were warned, i sent a truck, a boat, and a helicopter” Moral of the story being, it isnt that God is going to magically shield you from all things that may afflict you, it is on you to make a conscious decision to heed the warning, and take the actions necessary to protect yourself, do NOT seek some divine intervention, despite already knowing the circumstances.
Edit: i'm glad this comment was well received, hopefully some of the woefully ignorant will resonate with this if they read it, and those resenting the woefully ignorant will show some compassion, ive seen some major hate towards the man in the comments, and i just want to say that even though he was making an ill advised choice, the man lost his life, it's unfortunate regardless of how he was handling the situation. A lot of the misinformation on the Covid-19 pandemic and fear mongering of the media or downplaying of the virus alike, has forced people to 2 extremist lines of thought in a sense, hopefully Lord willing, people will reach that middle ground train of thought, stay home, wash your hands, and limit contact.
