Honestly the pak is one of the most cruel elements. Taller gymnasts are not able to perform it without an arch. There should be a maximum of 0.1 deduction or nothing at all. Being flexible in your back is really dificult that should be rewarded.
Oh jeez. Kinda harsh to say her bars are ugly. I doubt very many ppl in the comments section can do what she does on bars. Not saying you can’t just saying it’s unlikely. I don’t think anyone should be bashing her bars considering how difficult they are. That’s plain rude
Simone's pak salto is definitely not the most floaty. Her bars aren't ugly, but she often doesn't point her toes, which makes them look bad. Mustafina's pak was the best in the world, until recently when she started bending her arms slightly.
In my opinion, she is. Her precision and attention for details in each and every movement should be more regarded than it is. It was wonderful to watch.
Thank you for this video, once again very interesting, I learned a lot. I really like the skill but I didn’t knew much about the deductions. Do you think Nastia Liukins pak salto would be deducted for having an excessive arch? I think hers is very aesthetically pleasing to watch though 😊
Thank you :) Yeah, I think she should get deducted. After doing this video, I started looking at Pak Saltos as simply stretched saltos but on the bars (similar to a Layout (E) on beam or a Double Layout (D) on floor - same shape). We don't see Double Layouts with such an excessive arch, so why should Paks? It's just a way of looking at it tho. Nastia's Pak catch was a bit too aggressive at times for me , not very smooth, which is quite opposite to her overall style. Anyway, like you said, it's pleasing to watch
@@gymnasticsmasterclass How about double layouts off bars? Many of them are rather arched, is that a deduction? Because I really feel that as long as they don’t pike down that much it looks nicer arched
I have noticed most if not all the top gymnasts nowadays use this skill to go from high bar to low bar in their routines. A few weeks ago I was watching Amy Chow's 1996 bars final routine and noticed she did a skill from high bar to low bar that looked like a pak salto but in stalder position (sorry not an expert here in naming terms)? It looked very pretty in the video.
What would you say to Komova‘s pak when she catches it. I always thought in 2011 and 2012 ist should have gotten at least 0.1 if not even 0.3 tenth of because she caught to quite late.
I like arched paks. I also like them straight. I respect anyone who can do them because I couldn't clumsily fall from one bar to the other let alone stretch my entire body, keep my legs together and point my toes! Lmao
So apparently Pak salto should end in a handstand (catch the bar in handstand position). Why is this a thing? I’ve never seen anyone execute it like that but you get a deduction if you don’t.

Say whatever, but arched back in Pak looks beautiful.
No it looks floppy.
@rene ruiz well that's pretty harsh and unnecessary.
Lots of people say that Simone's bars are "ugly", but she has one of the least arched, most floaty pak saltos out of everyone.
yes, her bars are ugly

I just don't like her look on bars.

@Douguinho yes but she’s still talented! Are we gonna forget that she’s in like the 1% that Can actually do that?!
I think McKayla Maroney has one of the best and most underrated paks in all of WAG.
I'm glad you took the time to re-post the video with the corrections on amplitude decutions!
THANK YOU, COACH!! I BETTER UNDERSTAND THIS MOVE!! THY WORK IS MOST EXCELLENT!! GRACIAS!! BLESS YOU!!
I knew that one of the examples of a good Pak Salto would be Komova's. Underrated queen!
Komova is not underrated
In my opinion, she is. Her precision and attention for details in each and every movement should be more regarded than it is. It was wonderful to watch.

@@gymnasticsmasterclass I am in the minority but I disliked the excessive arch of Nastia on her Pak.
@@gymnasticsmasterclass hi! Love your vids always very informative. Love gymnastics too so keep going.

Yes, probably 0.1. It’s interesting the catch improves a bit when they plan to connect the pak to another skill
@@gymnasticsmasterclass yeah That is right. While ist wasnt That Great in 2012 her pak was awesome in 2015 when connected to her Van leuween
I always thought it was 0.3, and it’s interesting because it’s such a pretty Pak but under the CoP it’s pretty heavily deducted
@@gymnasticsmasterclass Probably because she needed all the extra swing she could get to connect that van leeuwen.
Why is the Pak Salto a D element? It seems like it should be rated easier than that, given that literally everyone does it. Could someone explain?
Just because lots of people do it doesn’t mean it’s easy, and not many J.O. Gymnasts do it
I would considering an overshoot/bail WAY easier
I love your vids

Is there a perfect pak salto
