    I actually squealed as you were doing this. It's such a simple trick that I can't believe how I missed it! If you only knew how many times I have ripped back on multiple projects for this very reason! Wjne you cut the yarn and weaved in the ends...injusy about lost my mind! 😆So simple!
    Thank you!

      You are so welcome Bald Brown Knitter and thank YOU for this comment. You made me smile out loud! And yes! It is so simple. We just don't think to do things until we find out someone else has done them sometimes.

      @@CherylBrunetteTV Is there a way to tighten a "column" of stitches (vs. a row)?

    I hope I can do this with my ribbing on either side of my cables. The sts are awfully big on the USM after I did the ribbing and I gave up doing ribbing because of that. I couldn't find any info on how to tighten ribbing on the USM so hopefully this turns out for me. Thanks!

    • @CherylBrunetteTV
      @CherylBrunetteTV  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmmmm. Regular ribbing too? Are you giving the piece a good lengthwise yank when you take it off the machine and let it rest? The machine stretches out the sts so it sometimes takes as much as several days for them to shrink back, depending on your fiber.

      Knitting with Cheryl Brunette Yes I did. There was too much slack for it to "tighten" on it's own.

    Thank you so much for the video, its really helpful. I am a beginning knitter working on a ribbed hat, can I still use this technique with ribbed stitching? I started knitting tighter but maybe its too tight, do you have any recommendations on how to even out knitting that is too tight or too lose in different parts?

    • @CherylBrunetteTV
      @CherylBrunetteTV  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You can use this with ribbing. When you cast on for a ribbed hat you need to cast on very loosely so that it can fit comfortably around someone's head when they put it on. I'm assuming that you are casting on at the bottom edge which is the typical pattern approach.
      Using the above method, and getting more experience knitting while not being too critical of yourself are the best way to even out your knitting.
      You're welcome and good luck.

    I had a question that I was hoping you could help me with :) I notice that when I'm getting close to finishing a project, lets say a scarf, that towards the end of the project the stitches seem to get looser, like there is more space in-between the rows and the ridges are farther spaced apart...so that the work doesn't seem to match...the beginning of the scarf has a color section with 24 rows and the section has a certain width but the end of the scarf I still have 24 rows of a color section but the width is larger than the other beginning section....I hope im making sense lol
    I've thought of changing my needle to a 1/2 size smaller but idk if that would compromise...I've also tried pulling tighter on the stitches but that doesn't seem to work either :(
    pretty pretty please, HEEEELP

    I am knitting my first top down sweater and I found a loop on the wrong side that formed the slightest mistake on the right side. I am so picky that I took 4 stitches off and ripped downward. Well now the yarn got stretched! Instead of going side to side like your sample, mine is vertical. I'm way to far into this sweater to rip out hours of work. How do I make this look better...

    • @CherylBrunetteTV
      @CherylBrunetteTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sandy. Every "problem" like this needs to be looked at physically since each one is different. There's no generic solution I can give you. As a guess recommendation, you might ease the extra of each stitch one row at a time . . . you'll still be distributing the extra yarn horizontally into the adjacent sts. Start at the bottom, meaning the first row knit.

    Hi, I like alot the way u show or teach about knitting. I have some problems and I hope you can help me. I am a new knitting. I just done with my second sweater. But the problem is on the chest, both sides back and front are seem too big, and it's seem 36 stitches big . Do you have any videos related to this problem can help me? I hope that you can help. Thanks in advance.

      @CherylBrunetteTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Heam. Without seeing the sweater I can't make a recommendation. There are seldom generic solutions when addressing problems with specific sweaters. It's a matter of step-by-step problem solving. You might look up "steeks" or "steeking" and see if that gives you some tools.

    Can you help with my problem? I made a hat but after it was worn several days the ribbing stretched out too much and it is now too loose. Is there a way to tighten up the ribbing? Thanks

    • @CherylBrunetteTV
      @CherylBrunetteTV  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +avkayaker You can get a fine elastic thread and do a running stitch with it on the inside of the ribbing at 2 or three (levels). Tighten it to the size you want and ties it off. Do one length of elastic for each "circle" that you make.
