Very interesting that you bring up money, it's something that does seem overlooked though I am surprised to hear that there might be "too much money" in psychoanalysis (or any healthcare really). Without discussing the details of this in public I can certainly say that money affects the relationship one has with a therapist, though it's not only money it's work structure and power that matter here as well. What I find curious, with the lack of spots for patients, how come there's no student & psychologist groups that try to offer sessions for free? Of course there's organizations that provide those options but as you say the revolutionary influence seems to be missing.
A psychoanalyst is not a Priest - paid by the church. He is not a Being free from personal expenses... If the approach - since the first meeting - is: I am a man and not a God. A man who lives in a money oriented society - using a materialist approach - work done work paid - the way will be paved the more smothly. The problem starts when we let people think that therapy is like a neighbor's talking. If the therapist is not afraid/guilt to talk about money the whole relation will benefit.
Thank you for sharing this knowledge.
Enjoyed this lecture. Thankyou. Money is not just money. As with the dream, it's a condensation.
I never thought to offer to pay cash. Interesting comments.
