Shelley was a great angel, the few episodes that they did allow her to shine, she really pulled through, the one where she was a nurse (nips tuck angel i think) and the one with her sorority were stellar episodes. We all know ratings decline as a show goes on, like most bad management, they like to point the finger and sadly Shelley was an easy target.
Jaclyn didn't help co-create the show like Kate and she wasn't able to carry the show once Kate left (after she had fulfilled her contract). She had to stay until her five-year contract was up. In the last two seasons she just tried to get it over with with minimal effort.
Shelley Hack did an excellent job and fit right in taking Kate Jackson's place. It's a shame they didn't give her much of a chance with only the 1 season season 4 however Tayna Roberts on season 5 fit right in too sadly it was cut off the air too soon. Each of the Charlie's Angels brought something different and special to the show I love all 5 seasons and have no complaints about any of them. I still watch the repeats today it's the kind of show you never get tired of.

roraineto you're correct on Kate was supposed to do Kramer vs Kramer in the show wasn't able to rearrange the schedule but I think also that I've read from in semen documentaries on Charlie's Angels Kate was not the easiest person to him and a lot of people producers and directors found her very difficult but his case has said in the past she is a perfectionist so I think there was some personalities going on there but as for her leaving Cape did not leave she was fired her contract was not renewed but I think it was a mutual thing I think she was ready to move on and I think they were ready for her to go as for Shelly you know it's unfortunate that she still to this day is playing for the Ravens and the end of the show know she was doing what she was paid to do app she had nothing to do with the scripts and even if I think she would have had something to do with the scripts remember she wasn't the producer so she was doing her job and unfortunately the way it was handled was the ratings dropped but it dropped during season three Charlie's Angels only stayed in the top 10 for the first two seasons not three by the third season the ratings have dropped out of the top 10 by the end of the season even with Farrah returning and in the fourth season and drop to number 17 even with Farrah returning so you know just sit there and say it was all Shelly's fault is a bunch of crap

Kate Jackson was the co-creator, the best actress and the leader of the angels. It was impossible to replace her. Not Shelley's fault. But Kate made the show and after she left Jaclyn and Kris were not able to carry the show and take the lead.
I personally love Shelley and feel she was a very suitable replacement for Kate! I wish she would have stayed on for a very successful full length 24 episode season 5!
In a way, Shelly Hack's intro was a homage to both Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett-major, whether the producers intended that way or not. In the Police Academy training portion, they first show her character, Tiffany Wells at the firing range shooting at a target, much like we saw Jackson's Sabrina Duncan in the show's intro from the first three seasons. Then, during the "very hazardous duties" portion, they show Tiffany's presumed superior dump a stack of papers to fill out and file, much like Farrah's Jill Munroe's presumed superior does to her in the show's intro from the first season.

I liked Tiffany(shelley Hack). She looked more like Jill (Farrah)'s sister than Jill's sister (Cheryl Ladd) actually did. I think the writers made a mistake by making her character rather cold and aloof. It wasn't Shelley's fault.

What the heck happened to this show after Sabrina departed? Virtually everything was written around Cheryl Ladd and Shelley Hack was hardly given any chance. Did the writers go nuts? They used to balance stuff well, but they went off the rails in Season 4.

He didn't like her and Shelley stuck in there and did the season and left. But she's one of the few angels has never said anything bad about the show. A lot of fans of the show like to down Shelley Hack. I don't know why. The writers didn't really give us a chance to like her too much. In most episodes she was barely there, and all the main focus was on Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd. Had there been more scripts aimed her way, I think Shelley could've broken the "replacement" mold and became a main character like Cheryl did two years earlier. Its seems Shelley was just "worked in" scripts that had been already written before her casting.

Indeed, it is true. Shelley was dropped in to already finished scripts designed for Kate as Sabrina. She lost screen time as a resukt of some lines being cut as a result. The two-hour season four opener was written in that way, and tge focus was on Kris...not Tiffany. If you watch Season Four you'll realise Tiffany wasn't given a big feature untill ANGELS ON CAMPUS...and she was great!

Plus Spelling had done Kate dirty: Though the producers of Kramer changed the movie’s schedule three times to accommodate Kate's Charlie’s Angels schedule, Aaron Spelling was determined not to let her do the movie. He switched her Angels schedule every time so the new Kramer schedule didn’t work. Finally he told the producers, “If she does the movie, it will never see the light of day!” because he’d file an injunction against them. Spelling was afraid if any of the actresses did a movie, they would think they were movie stars and leave the show. How wrong he was! If he had allowed Kate to take that golden opportunity, she would have stayed with the show as long as it lasted. He needlessly, intentionally kept Kate from doing Kramer. So she decided she would finish that third season, then leave the show. She had fulfilled her contract.

The thing is Kate Jackson was the glue that held the show together. She was the co-creator, an experienced actress, had charisma and her Sabrina character was her own creation. Sabrina was so cool, badass, fun, caring, down-to-earth and unique. It would have been impossible for anyone to replace Kate Jackson.

My favourite angel was Tiffany as she was abit more of a 'have a go' angel. 'Nice kitty' response to a tiger very memorable. Cheryl Ladd was the strongest actress as she didn't need to say a word to show her emotions, it just a took one look. But I loved all six ladies 🤗
When it comes to acting, Kate Jackson was the real deal. Her facial expressions were incredible. She had range. Kate was the only one of all the actresses to get two Emmy nominations when she was on Charlie's Angels. Plus a third one for "James at 15". She also landed the part in Kramer vs. Kramer because the director had seen her on Angels. A testament to her amazing acting skills. She had to turn down that part because Spelling forced her to do so. Kate was the best actress by far. That's why the show went downhill after she left.

It’s funny how squeezed together they are here in Season 4. Jaclyn Smith can barely move her arms. Seasons 1,2 & 3 were natural. Season 5 they went the opposite way and they were really far apart which didn’t look good either. Season 1 was the best.
Huuuuuuuuge Shelley Hack fan here and it's all because of her work on Charlie's Angels. In the second half of the season, when they finally started writing scripts for Shelley (as opposed to her just being plugged in to already-written scripts for Kate Jackson), she really came into her own and the chemistry with Jaclyn and Cheryl was just as good as the first season's. Unfortunately, tinkering behind the scenes sabotaged the show and by the time they straightened it out in the second half of the season, the damage was already done and ratings had slipped. Even though the show still finished in the Top 20, the producers made the unfortunate decision to replace Shelley instead of concentrating on the quality of the scripts. All of the class and sophistication Tiffany brought to the show was thrown out the window when they desperately tried for sensationalism with T&A in season 5 with Tanya Roberts. Bad, bad move. The ratings sank much lower and the show was canceled before the end.
It's really puzzling why they dropped her.. suppose they needed a scapegoat for ratings. But she was IMO the best all around of all of the female cast for the entire run. The show likely would have regained viewers I think had they allowed her to continue to grow her character, and lasted a few more seasons well into the 80s.
All of the angels were so beautiful! I liked Tanya Roberts, but Shelley Hack should have stayed on till the 5th season was over. Shelley was a great replacement for Kate, but Jacklyn and Cheryl were my all time faves though.
Why didn't they call this show something like Chuck's Chicks? It was alliterative (both parts starting with C and pronounced Ch), and being that Chuck is short for Charles or Charlie, and Chick is slang for any beautiful woman, I think it would have fit better than Charlie's Angels.

Shelley had a rough go that’s what Jackie stated in the documentary on Charlie’s Angels I think the problem is the way they handled the Tiffany character and barely gave her anything to do for the first 10 episodes of this season by the time they got around to beef in a parole the ratings heads slipped and they started going up a little bit so it finished number 17 for the season it was not a big drastic to drop his people is tried to make it out to be but I also think that going from team adventures solo adventures also her the show the lack of development for the new angel and by the end of the season I don’t blame anybody that would been in that position I would’ve left the show and Shelley stated by the end of the season she had had enough that was plenty for her so it wasn’t all Shelly‘s fault as Cheryl Ladd has stated and Cheryl had also stated that there was a lot of stuff going on that Shelley took a lot of shit for that she didn’t deserve and I agree with that

My fondest memory from season 5, was the last episode of the series finale, where my sweet, adorable angel Kelly Garett, was fighting for her life after being shot at point blank range, by a sick, demonic, psychopath. Never before in my life, had i cried so much over an episode of a tv series, as i did for that one. It was called, '' Let Our Angel Live.'' I think you should check it out.

The show had lost all credibility by the time the 4th season came out people didn't realise just what a big influence the sabrina Duncan character had on the angels as the moover and fixer and organiser out in the field only to be replaced by just another pretty face the show should have been killed off after season 3!!!
Charlie's Angels, like any other TV series in the US during that era, was never spared from casting and talent issues. The only cast fixed in the series is Charlie, Kelly (Jaclyn Smith), and Bosley (David Doyle). In its entire run, there are several changes to the other angels. Season 2, Farrah Fawcett was out, in comes Cheryl Ladd. Season 4, Katie Jackson was out then Shelley Hack came in. And in Season 5, Shelley Hack went out, then Tanya Roberts came in. Viewers eventually fed up with these changes so the ratings took a fall, and the series was cancelled.
But why was her hair all frizzy in her first episode? It’s like she (the hair people) never used a comb or brush before. It’s things like this that keep me up at night 40 years later. LOL!!!!
Imagine how it would look if they were to enter the realm of animation like in a guest appearance in an animated theatrical movie version of the animated series “KING OF THE HILL”?
They barley gave Shelly any speaking lines her first handful of shows,( which were already written with Kate in mind) I think things started looking up w/ the haunted house /school roommate and the truck drivers episodes. Farrah leaving was a huge loss to the show but Kate Jackson leaving was even worse since she was the anchor for the team . My favorite season is 1/ favorite Angel is Kelly.

She had to know how to act even get the part. Okay, she's slowly gettinbut it wasn't her fault either. Jacqueline doesn't say much about Shelley. Original Cheryl has always spoken up for both Cheryl. Cheryl has always said she felt Shelley got a wrong jail. And it wasn't all Shelley's fault. We know that edlasco went out of his way to make sure she wasn't given much to do and they had to bring in guest riders to be for parole. And Shelley, being smart as she is did her year and she didn't want to return. She would have if they would have made her because she signed a contract. But she did her year and she moved on now. Shelly said that was enough for her with all the bad press and all this the negativity. She was getting who blame her. They're blaming her for riders of her not doing their job. And blaming it all on the New Girl and we all know. Yeah, the actress has to deliver the lines. But when you're given crappy scripts that's why kate laughed

Yes Shelley Hack was the most talented and beautiful. What they failed to realize is by doing things like switchboard,etc., is that they freed up more men to be on patrol. Let's face it, police departments should always have men who're 6'0'' ft or more, in good shape,etc., no exceptions to that. Shelley could match the height but not the physique, maybe if she'd been a Ms Olympia contestant. This was memorable jiggle tv.

Kate Jackson was the co-creator, the best actress and the leader of the angels. It was impossible to replace her. Not Shelley's fault. But Kate made the show and after she left Jaclyn and Kris were not able to carry the show and take the lead.
My favorite seasons of Charlie's angels were season 1 and season 4. Loved the trio on both seasons.

In a way, Shelly Hack's intro was a homage to both Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett-major, whether the producers intended that way or not. In the Police Academy training portion, they first show her character, Tiffany Wells at the firing range shooting at a target, much like we saw Jackson's Sabrina Duncan in the show's intro from the first three seasons. Then, during the "very hazardous duties" portion, they show Tiffany's presumed superior dump a stack of papers to fill out and file, much like Farrah's Jill Munroe's presumed superior does to her in the show's intro from the first season.

What the heck happened to this show after Sabrina departed? Virtually everything was written around Cheryl Ladd and Shelley Hack was hardly given any chance. Did the writers go nuts? They used to balance stuff well, but they went off the rails in Season 4.

Leaving she was stuck, but she did her 5 years Shelley said period after an awkward introduction. I was hardly in the first couple of shows. She didn't know why we know why at lasco. He didn't like her and Shelley stuck in there and did the season and left. But she's one of the few angels has never said anything bad about the show. Other than she felt that more could have been done for her. And I agreed you know. It was misad to see her the way she was treated. It's especially by Aaron Spelling. Who you know, the Charlie girl becoming an angel? And then all the hoopla, and there was a big disappointment when she wasn't really given much to do other than stand around and look pretty. And when she was given something to do, she always did her part.

A lot of fans of the show like to down Shelley Hack. I don't know why. The writers didn't really give us a chance to like her too much. In most episodes she was barely there, and all the main focus was on Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd. Had there been more scripts aimed her way, I think Shelley could've broken the "replacement" mold and became a main character like Cheryl did two years earlier. Its seems Shelley was just "worked in" scripts that had been already written before her casting.

Indeed, it is true. Shelley was dropped in to already finished scripts designed for Kate as Sabrina. She lost screen time as a resukt of some lines being cut as a result. The two-hour season four opener was written in that way, and tge focus was on Kris...not Tiffany. If you watch Season Four you'll realise Tiffany wasn't given a big feature untill ANGELS ON CAMPUS...and she was great!

He switched her Angels schedule every time so the new Kramer schedule didn’t work. Finally he told the producers, “If she does the movie, it will never see the light of day!” because he’d file an injunction against them. Spelling was afraid if any of the actresses did a movie, they would think they were movie stars and leave the show. How wrong he was! If he had allowed Kate to take that golden opportunity, she would have stayed with the show as long as it lasted. He needlessly, intentionally kept Kate from doing Kramer. So she decided she would finish that third season, then leave the show. She had fulfilled her contract.

The thing is Kate Jackson was the glue that held the show together. She was the co-creator, an experienced actress, had charisma and her Sabrina character was her own creation. Sabrina was so cool, badass, fun, caring, down-to-earth and unique. It would have been impossible for anyone to replace Kate Jackson.

My favourite angel was Tiffany as she was abit more of a 'have a go' angel. 'Nice kitty' response to a tiger very memorable. Cheryl Ladd was the strongest actress as she didn't need to say a word to show her emotions, it just a took one look. But I loved all six ladies 🤗
When it comes to acting, Kate Jackson was the real deal. Her facial expressions were incredible. She had range. Kate was the only one of all the actresses to get two Emmy nominations when she was on Charlie's Angels. Plus a third one for "James at 15". She also landed the part in Kramer vs. Kramer because the director had seen her on Angels. A testament to her amazing acting skills. She had to turn down that part because Spelling forced her to do so. Kate was the best actress by far. That's why the show went downhill after she left.

It’s funny how squeezed together they are here in Season 4. Jaclyn Smith can barely move her arms. Seasons 1,2 & 3 were natural. Season 5 they went the opposite way and they were really far apart which didn’t look good either. Season 1 was the best.
Huuuuuuuuge Shelley Hack fan here and it's all because of her work on Charlie's Angels. In the second half of the season, when they finally started writing scripts for Shelley (as opposed to her just being plugged in to already-written scripts for Kate Jackson), she really came into her own and the chemistry with Jaclyn and Cheryl was just as good as the first season's.
Unfortunately, tinkering behind the scenes sabotaged the show and by the time they straightened it out in the second half of the season, the damage was already done and ratings had slipped. Even though the show still finished in the Top 20, the producers made the unfortunate decision to replace Shelley instead of concentrating on the quality of the scripts. All of the class and sophistication Tiffany brought to the show was thrown out the window when they desperately tried for sensationalism with T&A in season 5 with Tanya Roberts. Bad, bad move. The ratings sank much lower and the show was canceled before the end.

I was a huge Shelley Hack fan as well. I love her on the show. I missed Kate Jackson, but I thought Shelley was a great replacement.
It's really puzzling why they dropped her.. suppose they needed a scapegoat for ratings. But she was IMO the best all around of all of the female cast for the entire run. The show likely would have regained viewers I think had they allowed her to continue to grow her character, and lasted a few more seasons well into the 80s.
Unfortunately Shelley got the sh**t end of the deal and was treated very poorly from what I hear.

Why didn't they call this show something like Chuck's Chicks? It was alliterative (both parts starting with C and pronounced Ch), and being that Chuck is short for Charles or Charlie, and Chick is slang for any beautiful woman, I think it would have fit better than Charlie's Angels.

Shelley had a rough go that’s what Jackie stated in the documentary on Charlie’s Angels I think the problem is the way they handled the Tiffany character and barely gave her anything to do for the first 10 episodes of this season by the time they got around to beef in a parole the ratings heads slipped and they started going up a little bit so it finished number 17 for the season it was not a big drastic to drop his people is tried to make it out to be but I also think that going from team adventures solo adventures also her the show the lack of development for the new angel and by the end of the season I don’t blame anybody that would been in that position I would’ve left the show and Shelley stated by the end of the season she had had enough that was plenty for her so it wasn’t all Shelly‘s fault as Cheryl Ladd has stated and Cheryl had also stated that there was a lot of stuff going on that Shelley took a lot of shit for that she didn’t deserve and I agree with that

The show had lost all credibility by the time the 4th season came out people didn't realise just what a big influence the sabrina Duncan character had on the angels as the moover and fixer and organiser out in the field only to be replaced by just another pretty face the show should have been killed off after season 3!!!
Charlie's Angels, like any other TV series in the US during that era, was never spared from casting and talent issues. The only cast fixed in the series is Charlie, Kelly (Jaclyn Smith), and Bosley (David Doyle). In its entire run, there are several changes to the other angels. Season 2, Farrah Fawcett was out, in comes Cheryl Ladd. Season 4, Katie Jackson was out then Shelley Hack came in. And in Season 5, Shelley Hack went out, then Tanya Roberts came in. Viewers eventually fed up with these changes so the ratings took a fall, and the series was cancelled.
But why was her hair all frizzy in her first episode? It’s like she (the hair people) never used a comb or brush before. It’s things like this that keep me up at night 40 years later. LOL!!!!

Now we all know, after Kate left and Shelley came in. As the New Girl at last code did not like Shelley hack, I don't know why he didn't do anything to help her. He still, till he is dying day. She had to know how to act even get the part. But as many people have said to be on charlie's angels, all you had to do is flip your hair but Shelley was not given much to do in the first 10 episodes. She solved the case by herself and I think if they would have given her more to do. Not to say that the audience still wasn't turning the channel. But they would have seen more. Okay, she's slowly gettinbut it wasn't her fault either. Jacqueline doesn't say much about Shelley. Original Cheryl has always spoken up for both Cheryl. Cheryl has always said she felt Shelley got a wrong jail. And it wasn't all Shelley's fault.
We know that edlasco went out of his way to make sure she wasn't given much to do and they had to bring in guest riders to be for parole.
And Shelley, being smart as she is did her year and she didn't want to return. She would have if they would have made her because she signed a contract. But she did her year and she moved on now. Shelly said that was enough for her with all the bad press and all this the negativity. She was getting who blame her. They're blaming her for riders of her not doing their job.

Yes Shelley Hack was the most talented and beautiful. What they failed to realize is by doing things like switchboard,etc., is that they freed up more men to be on patrol.
