JK is technically strong, we have heard him many times do runs effortlessly and on pitch on vlive. The same way they rely on Jin for belting out high notes etc, they rely on JK to do those kinds of runs live. Otherwise whats the point of swapping in the middle like you said🤷🏼♀️

Tbh Seokjin voice what made me interested in BTS songs especially their solo song, he has a very beautiful emotional voice and so sooo stable even the Grammy wrote articles praising his vocals since 2017 when bts wasn't even there along with rolling stone He have one of the best vocals & the most stable honestly 💘

The second syllable seems to start with almost a hard 'g'. They often add 'ah' at the end or 'ie' at the ends of their name (even adding -ssi jokingly formal for Mr Jimin) Jimin calls them all by name in heart felt speech (Namjoonieo, Hoseogieo, Taehyungie, Yoongieo, Seokjinnieo, Junggoogie): th-cam.com/video/UQUqgX0g5pY/w-d-xo.html
It's Namjunie-hyung, Jin-hyung etc. Hyung means big brother and is the title given to males older than you if you're male. Oppa is the equivalent if you're female. So Jimin is younger than RM, Jin and Suga and JHope so he will add 'hyung' at the end of their names. Sometimes the name can be omitted and you can just call them 'hyung' on its own, especially if there are no other hyungs around. You will hear many young female fans calling them XXX oppa. In Korea, calling them without this suffix means you are either the same age or older than them.

JungGook is a better pronunciation. Its never a pure K sound but 60% G mixed with 40% K sound. It is however written as Jungkook. When i was learning korean i was horrifyingly confused by how they romanized their language 😭

It’s oral twang. The science behind it is that employing twang causes bright harmonics in the 2-4khz range, which is the resonant frequency of the ear canal, so when we hear that sound, our ears naturally ‘boost’ it, so it seems much louder and more prominent than other types of singing. It’s also used in Opera singing so they can be heard over orchestras (look up the singers formant or squillo for more info). Mix is more of a description of the body of the vocal folds, so it’s a way wider net and covers a myriad of things, so the twang is the important factor here. Hope that wasn’t too nerdy of an answer 😂😂

Jungkook’s name is spelt 정국 in hangul. ㅈ= j, ㅓ= eo (short o sound like in sock- the other o, ㅗ, is like the o in the word home saying it in your accent), ㅇ at the end= ng, ㄱ=g, ㅜ= u/oo and then the g again. It’s romanised as a k as there are different rules when certain letters are at the end of a word. If you listen carefully to their pronunciation of the name (don’t go by Kookie’s pronunciation as he tends to slur it in his accent which makes it hard to make out), the Jung/Jeong is pronounced in between the u and short o sound, and the g/k at the end is kind of swallowed. You pronounce Jimin really well, like they do in Korean- most westerners pronounce it like Jim-in, but you’re definitely doing it right :) The riff was actually Jungkook, not V. That little Jimin holding the sign thing was well cute!

I'm slowly making my way through your reactions, and I'm really enjoying the way you're doing like a descriptive analysis of what vocal techniques the guys are using to get certain effects. Your explanations of how they're doing things (like RM and playing with vowel shape/delivery, or j-hope's texture in his voice) is giving me a lot to chew on for my own noodling around with singing! Also your discussion of Jin's twang and how that makes his voice project more is really interesting! I've always wondered how he did that, since while he has the punchiest voice on the team it seemed kinda effortful to me and I was hoping he was using a technique that was safe for long-term vocal health (aha I'm a speech therapist who only knows a teeny bit of voice things, just enough of voice disorders to be mindful of professional voice users and vocal health lol)

It's a hard 'J' or almost a 'ch' sound. The second syllable seems to start with almost a hard 'g'. They often add 'ah' at the end or 'ie' at the ends of their name (even adding -ssi jokingly formal for Mr Jimin)
Jimin calls them all by name in heart felt speech (Namjoonieo, Hoseogieo, Taehyungie, Yoongieo, Seokjinnieo, Junggoogie): th-cam.com/video/UQUqgX0g5pY/w-d-xo.html
It's Namjunie-hyung, Jin-hyung etc. Hyung means big brother and is the title given to males older than you if you're male. Oppa is the equivalent if you're female. So Jimin is younger than RM, Jin and Suga and JHope so he will add 'hyung' at the end of their names. Sometimes the name can be omitted and you can just call them 'hyung' on its own, especially if there are no other hyungs around. You will hear many young female fans calling them XXX oppa. In Korea, calling them without this suffix means you are either the same age or older than them.
@@justine7083 I wouldn't consider that a reliable video for accurate pronunciation LOL! They were literally making fun of eachother's pronunciation of their names (like Jungkook and Yoongie). They were either trying to do a Western pronunciation or I suspect were teasing how non-koreans may pronounce their name incorrectly.

JungGook is a better pronunciation. Its never a pure K sound but 60% G mixed with 40% K sound. It is however written as Jungkook. When i was learning korean i was horrifyingly confused by how they romanized their language 😭

Question: what is Jin doing to get that piercing sound? It's so distinctive. Is it considered a mix? It's so strong!
It’s oral twang. The science behind it is that employing twang causes bright harmonics in the 2-4khz range, which is the resonant frequency of the ear canal, so when we hear that sound, our ears naturally ‘boost’ it, so it seems much louder and more prominent than other types of singing. It’s also used in Opera singing so they can be heard over orchestras (look up the singers formant or squillo for more info).
Mix is more of a description of the body of the vocal folds, so it’s a way wider net and covers a myriad of things, so the twang is the important factor here.

I would be interested in seeing your reaction to Butter by voice play. It’s quite different when it’s Acappella
Jungkook’s name is spelt 정국 in hangul. ㅈ= j, ㅓ= eo (short o sound like in sock- the other o, ㅗ, is like the o in the word home saying it in your accent), ㅇ at the end= ng, ㄱ=g, ㅜ= u/oo and then the g again. It’s romanised as a k as there are different rules when certain letters are at the end of a word. If you listen carefully to their pronunciation of the name (don’t go by Kookie’s pronunciation as he tends to slur it in his accent which makes it hard to make out), the Jung/Jeong is pronounced in between the u and short o sound, and the g/k at the end is kind of swallowed. You pronounce Jimin really well, like they do in Korean- most westerners pronounce it like Jim-in, but you’re definitely doing it right :)

I'm slowly making my way through your reactions, and I'm really enjoying the way you're doing like a descriptive analysis of what vocal techniques the guys are using to get certain effects. Your explanations of how they're doing things (like RM and playing with vowel shape/delivery, or j-hope's texture in his voice) is giving me a lot to chew on for my own noodling around with singing!
Also your discussion of Jin's twang and how that makes his voice project more is really interesting! I've always wondered how he did that, since while he has the punchiest voice on the team it seemed kinda effortful to me and I was hoping he was using a technique that was safe for long-term vocal health (aha I'm a speech therapist who only knows a teeny bit of voice things, just enough of voice disorders to be mindful of professional voice users and vocal health lol)
Anyone else tear up when Sam said he would rely on Jin's vocals the most? No? Just me? Lol but seriously, as much as I am a JK bias, I absolutely love when vocal coaches show such love and appreciation for Jin's vocals (and the rest of the boys of course). Especially since Jin had to work the hardest to prove himself a vocalist starting from scratch.
Watching you mixed up their names reminds me of my baby ARMY days. But here I am a year later, they sneeze and I say "Bless you (name)" without even thinking.
