This song holds two meanings for Corey. He wrote this about someone he loved and she hurt him. He was not going to bring this to Slipknot because it is so different, however, Paul Grey the bass player talked him into giving it a shot and it is one of their biggest songs. The sad part is Paul died not long after this album dropped and this song cuts deep for Corey even more because of Paul's death.
It is also the last song him and Paul worked on.
If i'm not mistaken Paul and the drummer Joey, gathered one night and worked on some bass and drum lines for the lyrics Corey wrote and showed him that morning. It seems Corey got so emotional hearing, that he broke down in tears.
Live solo performance of "Bother" is a must. The audience participation in that one blew me away and gives me the chills everytime i see it.
Snuff is a lyrical masterpiece. The passionate performance complements the message of the song so perfectly.
agree 10000%
The official video for Snuff is a must see, such a fantastic piece of art.
The official Slipknot video of this song is now a must for a different feel.
Bother from the same show has the audience do the best background vocals I've ever heard, actually this whole concert is amazing.
SO GOOD!!!!! Corey Taylor is also in another band called STone Sour and their biggest hit is an acoustic song called "Looking Through the Glass" which Corey in an interview has stated it's his favorite song he's written. You guys will love that one too. Not AS "emotional" as this one, but still a GREAT chill song w/ his amazing vocals!
I really believe this type of singing is his wheelhouse. He has great vocals and that raspiness that comes out is an added bonus.
“So if you love me let me go and run away before I know”
“I only wish you weren’t my friend, then I could hurt you in the end”.
“If you still care don’t ever let me know”
All lines that point to a love that was on/off yet poisonous and finally cutting that cord. These are some of the most beautiful lyrics I’ve heard of any song.
AMAZING performance by Corey.
This hole show Cory Taylor live in London is epic and then there's him doing sponge bob and the entire audience singing it with him is special.
Agreeing with others don't sleep on Stone Sour with Corey as well. Bother, Through the Glass, Zzyxx Rd, Inhale and Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero are a good start.
dont forget 30/30/150
@@RickBak-w5z Oh yeah good one too.
Even their covers, like Creeping Death...
Zzyxx Rd is such a good song
Oh, and "Say You'll Haunt Me"
Originally this song was about an ex of Corey's. Much later in the years, Corey rededicated this song to Paul Gray, the Slipknot bassist who accidentally ODed, saying that their friendship and his death changed the meaning of the song to Corey.
This song makes my heart melt every time hes so good at soft music
The whole concert is an absolute classic!
I must have watched it 100 times since it was uploaded to TH-cam...
The song Bother from the same show is now a must, I was at this gig in 2016 and I still feel the energy. 🤘🤘
Hello you both, I'm a 66 year old musician and I'm into music from 1930s to Slipknot
im a 35 yr old whos loved music from the 30's and up . my grandfather had an amazing taste.
I love Corey, he is such a versatile artist, with a great voice and taste in music.
I always loved the line “it took the death of hope to let you go”. SUCH a powerful lyric
highly recommend listening to the original version as well. both are so good.
And then he also does Spongbob Squarepants 🙂
Not enough reactions for SpongeBob 😂
I was at this show at the House of Blues Sunset Strip Hollywood last show before they bulldozed it. It was a fantastic show and Corey was great! You could see the pain on his face.
Your Sound Is 100% Luv it thank you for reaction to this!!
Listened to this version a lot after my first real breakup. Definitely helped on some long lonely drives
This is one of my favorite songs from Corey and I love the original version with Slipknot as well! 💙
Snuff- Corey taylor Ft That one guy in the audience
There is a live version of Slipknot doing this song on Jimmy Kimmel's Halloween show after it came out. Really enjoy the late Paul Grey and Joey Jordison's bass and drum work on it.
Hello 👋 i would love to recommend "From Can to Can’t" by Corey Taylor, great song, great vocals + instruments and i need to see more reacting to this, thank you
Corey's voice is my favorite of all. I wouldn't say he has a lane. He was features on rap tracks (Kid Bookie Ft Corey Stuck in my ways, Tech N9ne ft Corey Bi*ch Slap), on a beautiful pop rock ballad (Tonight Alive ft Corey My Underworld - I'd love to see you react to this), etc and he was in Stone Sour for decades.
I hope you'll check out more of his acoustic live stuff and songs he's featured on.
Greetings from Germany
The video is amazing too! So are the videos for Looking At You Through the Glass and Bother.
Check out Stone Sour - Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero. Corey Taylor rocking out with James Root (Slipknot) on guitar. Absolute Zero has the phenomenal line: If I offended you, you needed it 🤘
Such a great song and performance.
Are you aware that the new The Warning album Keep Me Fed (#1 rock album in UK and #1 album on Amazon) is out now? Every song is amazing and the song and video for Six Feet Deep is next level.
"Took the death of hope to let you go!" - WOW
Cory is the most talented singer of our generation period
If you want to hear more songs like this then check out Stone sour. "Bother" "through glass" "Zzyzx Rd." "Song 3"
Definitely check out the official video for this one guys. It's basically a short, twisted, movie co-directed by fellow band member Shawn"Clown"Crahan.
You won't be disappointed.
Keep up the great reactions guys.👌🤘
There’s a performance from this show of a song called BOTHER. It’s from his other band Stone Sour, you should give that a listen and reaction to it, it’s AMAZING and it’s very deep too
You need to watch the live version of his other band Stone Sour's Bother from this same concert. The crowd makes it even better.
most musicians love all kind of music
I vouch for the Stone Sour comments below. Great tunes.
Stone Sour:
* Through Glass
* The Dark
* Bother
Hey guys.....treats......Corey tailor in " stone sour".......orig vids, song#3, brother, trough glass!!!
Bother from the same show is even more impressive imo!
Slipknot had dropped "Snuff" from their shows for awhile but a couple years ago started dusting it off again. Corey does sing it often on his solo band tours.
There's another good comparison of two performances ... try Slipknot's "Spit it Out" speicifically the live from Download 2009 and then Corey's solo one from this same acoustic show you grabbed Snuff from. All the intensity in the original contrasted with his humor in the solo acoustic. "Hop on one leg!" :D
And you should definitely watch the original video for Slipknot's "Snuff" as well. It has the ballad tempo similar to this acoustic one but, has more instrumentation from the band. And the video is pretty great art for the story telling in it.
Spit it out live at download 2009
The first time i heard this song .... i thought "damn...did SlipKnot just make one of the most beautifully written songs?" Never in a million years would i thought that lol
Oh man legendary song.
Amazing song! ❤
Love the original version
Snuff live from Resurrection Fest 2023 is a great comparison to see the difference!
So many great lyrics, but Sam is correct. The song is about a relationship with a woman that was very close to Corey and helped him get through some very tough sections of his life...and he grew very close to this person and I think it is safe to say it did not work out the way he wanted/thought?
Cool lyrics...
"Ooh, my smile was taken long ago
If I can change I hope I never know"
"You couldn't hate enough to love"
"I only wish you weren't my friend
Then I could hurt you in the end"
"Ooh, my own was banished long ago
It took the death of hope to let you go"
"Angels lie to keep control"
"Ooh, my love was punished long ago
If you still care, don't ever let me know"
Love!!!! ❤❤
This song is way too short.
Love the insight. Got a sub from me 🎉🎉
This whole show was amazing... especially his cover of Sponge Bob Square Pants. 👍
People have already told the story of this song in the comments so ill just hit you with a recommendation. If you like this kind of accoustic vibe then try out Song#3 Acoustic by stone sour. The original is great but the acoustic version hits so much better and you get a better feel for the bands talent. Especially Corey's vocals.
Gotta check out Duality
Awesome video.
Sweet...Ballroom Blitz...please
His other band is Stone Sour. Check out Bother!
He also has a band called Stone Sour that you could check out.
You have to check the Corey Taylor SpongeBob intro from the same concert 😅
❤❤❤
bother from the same performance next!
The original is not that different, one of the softest slipknot songs.
Ill recommend this one, a master class in crowed control.
Slipknot - Spit it Out (jump the fuck up) Live at Download 2009

React to " home/ zzyzx rd " live at the forum . His solo piano and vocals really show his talents.
In case you are unaware, Corey Taylor also fronts the band Stone Sour, and has a solo group.
The Slipknot version is basically the same song with more instruments and less emotion. This version is definitely better, IMO.
Do stone sour
Check out Corey with tech 9
highly recommend a double of Slipknot - Spit It Out
Live at Download 2009

This one will blow you away it’s it’s energy
Corey Taylor - Acoustic
m.th-cam.com/video/uetFO7y8WPA/w-d-xo.html
This one will leave you in tears, with your side hurting. The link above takes you directly to the song, within his full acoustic set. The same set as this Snuff performance.
Corey was abused as a child, he had a therapist that helped him through the trauma, he developed strong feelings for her but unfortuately it was not reciprocated., mainly because age. She had to quit being his therapist because of it.
The Slipknot version is so much better with all the layers to the music.
Should have watched the original music video. This one brings emotion after a sad event, but detracts from the song itself
please react Avenged sevenfold - Cosmic
I dont like the Slipnot version at all. This one i love.
This song aint got shit on his rendition of Spongebob Squarepants..
And Spit it Out from the same acoustic set 🤣
th-cam.com/video/Q5OLtoY70AI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SBT-f1IrG2MnSwzu
I think this song is from the same gig and it's a must watch. The emotion is intense...
Spoiler it's spongebob theme tune.
Zzyx rd..
There is nothing outside Corey's wheelhouse..... his solo stuff is slower ... stone sour is more rock then slip knot is heavy
Ngl I feel like yall just react to a bunch of random stuff it’s hard to find a video I actually want to see a reaction to
most react to stuff that their followers ask them to react to. If you have something, request it. If enough people want to see it as well, they likely will
OMV is much better
