Recently, I and a buddy of mine took a trip to Albuquerque to see Santa Fe 2926. But before that, we decided to make a detour to Wagon Mound to see the WSS Levy semaphore signal, then drove to Raton to wait on the westbound Southwest Chief. When the Chief arrived, we waited until they departed, then we chased the Chief along I25 all the way back to the semaphore signal to watch the Chief knock it down. The last of the semaphore's and we were lucky to see them in operation in 2024.
49:43 Note the alarm going off! This is the point where P42 21 (the trailing locomotive) starts ailing (due to problems getting fuel from its fuel tank) and that alarm will go off periodically for the rest of the cab ride to Albuquerque in Parts 4, 5, and 6!
Great stuff, could you please tell me about Wagon Mound and how it got its name, also what was the problem with the second Amtrak locomotive pulling the train?

Sounds like a very worthwhile day!

Ah damn, you missed semaphore 717. I thought you were going to miss 722 due to the bell ringing distraction, but you didn't. Phew.
