    wait I'm a little confused here...are these wild cats, that are being cloned because they are endangered, coming out with the neon glow in the dark traits because of the cloning process? That may not help them survive in the wild in the first place.

      @MichaelMarcos 11 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I remember reading an article in this a while back. These glow in the dark cats probably weren't cloned but have a gene that makes then resistant to feline HIV along with that gfp gene to confirm they have that resistance gene by glowing in the dark

      @tyggi90 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doesn't seem like the glowing eyes have anything to do with the cloning itself, it's more of a tool in GMO'ing that tells you that the gene wanted to insert into the organism have successfully done so, this happens because that inserted gene has been coupled with a fluorescent gene.

    So in theory all we need is a Skin cell from a Dinosaur, and a chicken to clone it

    Great content, I would've this video to be longer. Just when I was starting to get into it and be really interested the video sadly ended. =(

    Unfortunately, that would be impossible unless you had a time machine, as the half life of DNA is 521 years. You would have had to have lived within a 1000 years of a live dinosaur to have any chance of recovering even a smidgen of DNA.

    Cont. However, freezing DNA samples is an excellent way of preserving DNA records. These could be used in the future, potentially anywhere up past 500,000 years into the future to "re-create" the species. But remember, the longer the time, the more degradation happens to the DNA.

    Does anyone know any endangered species that are vital? Like really important need to save an endangered species. I find cloning very interesting, and If there is an important need to save an endangered species, it should be done. Why can people be against this?

    It might sound callus, but there are more important research that needs to be conducted. Yes, we contribute to extinction of animals, but why don't they use their efforts in giving a more practical application to preserving life, instead of cloning it. Also, they're many diseases, viruses, and global warming that are environmental killers. Unless we want cats to reign over long after we die, all that work was in vane. Think of ways to preserve life. A florescent cat doesn't save a species.

    Alright but stick with endangered cat species. There are already too many domestic cats to handle as it is. Making glow-in-the dark ones isn't going to help all the ones at the Humane Society get adopted.

    This technology would have been much more developed if it wasn't for diehard fans of religion. I believe in religion & God, but I'm a open-mind person & I'm sure God is, too. I don't see nothing wrong with this, the ones that are wrong are those making a huge deal out of it.
