      Like you said, I did some really good partying/clubbing in Istanbul just a week ago! The nightlife around Taksim was popping on a Saturday night! But of course, the culture, in general, and girls in Turkey are much more conservative. But that wasn’t an issue as I met cool locals and made new friends. Love Istanbul.

    I avoided Phuket for years until it was only option in Thailand to arrive without two week quarantine. I forgot what that program was called. It was test on arrival and you wait for message you're clear. It was abandoned and enjoyed vacant beaches till I got hit with Shingles. I returned nine months later and I hated it. I stayed in Patong and got some alleviation changing my hotel to Surin Beach. . My recent trip in April I found Krabi calm and I noticed the island excursion where inundated by travelers from Phuket. I'll likely never go back to Phuket. - especially Patong. The beaches are nice and the limestones give Thailand that idyllic awesome touch. I don't travel for beach destinations as I live in Florida, but I discovered a beach town in SE Costa Rica that is worth the 3hr flight and house rental every year now. I'll still travel to Thailand but with minimal emphasis on beach and more on mountains, hiking., cycling and culture.

    Top video again champ. That guy staying at the Expat Hotel blew me away. I stayed there for 3 months way back in 1993. Probably the same owner then too. Lovely guy. It was this time of the year and I stayed there for the duration on a special low season deal which converted to Oz 5.00 a night. Crazy cheap and a nice place to stay with a swimming pool, fan, no aircon but suited me well back then. Anyway re the content they all summed Patong up to perfection. Wild place however I quite like Kamala Beach which would be an awesome escape from Patong, about 10 km away. Much more relaxed and beautiful beach. I'd like to plug TH-camr Sean King's favourite eating and drinking place right on Kamala Beach called 'the Pond' You may well remember Sean from Paddy's end of Thailand tour party at Richie and Maybelle's Coffee Garden. Anyway well done with this mate Plenty of Aussies on this one 🤩

    Great vid Chai.
    We have been to Phuket 6 times since covid. We stay in Nanai Rd which is the expat area behind Patong. Kamala was our favourite area, however; the whole island lost it's vibe and turned into a mega expensive mini Moscow.
    Hua Hin and Chiang Mai are the go to spots from now on.

    In Phuket, Naiharn in July, it is quiet here now. Not so many tourists here, mostly expat or digital. All shops, gyms , markets, massages, sport clubs and restaurants are open, so no rush or queues as not so many people. Perfect place to have cool life. Still very different from the rest of Thailand. Phuket is an apart place. The many beaches of Phuket are so beautiful and different vibes, the old town Phuket is so beautiful.

    Used to live in Patong but moved to Phuket City, much prefer it. Rent is three times cheaper and you get an actual modern condo, in Patong it´s only old hotel rooms with no kitchen. Food is also much better and a lot cheaper since it´s actual Thai restaurants (in Patong every restaurant is owned by westerners and the staff in the kitchen are Myanmar instead of Thai).

  • @highwaytowall

    The worst thing about Phuket is that it's soooo loud everywhere! Even some restaurants and pubs choose the loud music which is strange. Other than that it's such a great island offering many choices.

    I used to live in Phuket off and on for a long time. I left for another area and the few times I've been back I really don't like it. Crazy drivers, noise, rude tourists, and overpricing. During COVID was the last nice time in Phuket. Felt like it did 20 years ago. Phuket town used to be so nice and quiet with locals and now its overrun with tourists also. I never liked Patong and really don't see what people like so much about it but for each their own. I actually prefer Pattaya over Phuket if I had to choose. Now I live next to the beach in a quiet town and have no regrets whatsoever. Phuket is for tourists that want to party and go on package tours. Fair enough to them and hope they stay there...

    Chai, I was on Phuket in January, for the first time since 15 years, but for me Phuket is TO buzzy now. All is business and also the Thai People are less kind then before. To commercial! I prefer Koh Samui now more. 🙏

    • @Chai_Travel
      @Chai_Travel  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m sorry to hear that Gert 🙏 I do feel (especially in Patong) that people are pretty pushy. It’s not representing the Thai hospitality at all as the service is normally so lovely and calm. Hopefully more people can explore different parts of Thailand so they can see the contrast too. I still love it here in Phuket, maybe not so much Patong 😅 just my personal preference
