    For me creating outfits is a bit like cooking. You have to figure out what ingredients go well together. Same for clothes. You have to experiment a lot. Over time you understand better what goes well together and what doesn't. I used to declutter a lot, now I give myself more time to figure out how I can wear something. Sometimes even up to three years 😅 But that way I have fallen back in love with many pieces.

    I have also noticed that hair length makes a big difference in what kind of neckline I like. I think it has to do with where the biggest volume of hair/clothing falls. It seems like you're liking more structured collars with your shorter hair. My hair is very long and the longer it gets the more I stray away from structured collars in favor of simple, flat necklines

    All of your necklines looked fabulous on you! As for jeans…Everlane has the new “Way High Hourglass” Jean that’s wonderful! I would also recommend their “Way High Sailor” Jean as well. Also, when you add something into your wardrobe that will be worn close to your face, try to add some colors that enhance your beautiful soft coloring. i think your instinct to go for more contrast is spot on! Sometimes the long/short/sharp/round lines of someone's bone structure impacts what colours and shapes look most harmonious on them. e.g. I have a soft autumn skin tone and an "hourglass figure" but since I have dark hair, pale skin and short, sharp bones, I really look better in more contrasting colours and boxy clothes. Watching Merriam Style's videos really helped me figure out why some things worked and others didn't

    My coloring is similar to yours, I am straddling soft autumn and soft summer - some but not all colors of each look best on me. I have found that I need a medium tone near my face - that light grey would wash me out too. I medium grey looks much better on me. Tones that are too dark tend to overpower me. I have had a Bob most of my life and now I've grown it out I get what you mean about necklines feeling different. One thing that helped me when I wanted to wear a higher neckline with shorter hair was to wear more accessories up to - specifically hairband, earrings, glasses, scarf - sort of balances out the negative space where long hair would have taken up more volume. Hope that makes sense 😂 Anyway - I really love all the outfits you pull together, you have a lovely wardrobe!

  • @sigriddjernaes
    @sigriddjernaes 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    First of all - the most important thing is that YOU feel great in your clothes. I love the short hair on you and it really suits you. I didn't feel the higher necklines lookes weird, but again it's important that you feel great ❤️
    Regarding you colouring: there seems to be some contrast between your hair and your skintone and that might be why a higher level of contrast suits you. The striped tops looked amazing. I agree that the mauve top wasn't the best, but maybe you should try it with a more contrasted bottom and see if that helps? I find it quite hard to evaluate one piece on it it's own - I like to look how it plays with others.
    The black jeans looked fine - have you thought about hemming them, but keeping the original hem (lots of tutorials on youtube). Could you get a tailor to take in the tibi trousers? Loved them with the boots. The bluntstones seemed to heavy with the skirt - for me it wasn't about the hair. Maybe pair them with you colourful cardigan or something bigger on top and a slimmer pair of trousers/jeans on the bottom to balance it out?
    Sorry for the looong comment 😄 Hope just a tiny bit was actually helpful 😂

    • @AlannaLightheart
      @AlannaLightheart  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Haha thank you for the lonnnggg comment, I devoured it 💖 I so agree that it's more about how you truly feel in your clothes but LOVE having 'objective' or at least outside opinions too for clarity or another point of view.
      I do think my contrast level may be higher than I first thought 🤷‍♀️ and the mauve works when layered with, say black... much to mull over.
      Thank you for indulging me 💃🥰

    • @sigriddjernaes
      @sigriddjernaes 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      ❤️ It can be fun to get other people’s feedback as it might help to push you a bit outside your comfort zone and get new ideas - as long as you stay true to yourself and how you feel 😊 One of my style goals going forward is to focus more on how I FEEL vs how I LOOK.
      Btw I think soft seasons can still have some level of contrast. It’s a scale 😊 Style Refinement has a great video on this. I don’t know if you have delved into Kibbe’s body types (a bit of a rabbit hole 🐰) but if I remember correctly, some contrast suits certain body types.
      Another thought I had after commenting (lots of thoughts apparently 😆) was to play with different necklines and necklaces to change the perception of it. A pendant necklace might work well with the higher necklines 🤷‍♀️

    I love seeing the whole wardrobe! My 2 cents if helpful: I think you look amazing in the light blue maxi skirt., and actually the full length black levis not bad. Generally it seems you have a lot of cropped pants and skirts and I think they cut the length of your legs awkwardly and make your proportions seem more off kilter. I think the longer lengths of skirt especially and pants also at full length are most flattering on you. I also think either a knee boot with short dress or a shorter boot with a long pant leg covering the top would chop you up less. I love the wholesomeness and authenticity of your videos. Thanks for the effort you put in!

    I love the hair! It really suits you. For myself, I found that when I had super-short hair (buzz cut), it was easier to pull off extremely feminine outfits, and now that I’ve let my hair grow out again and it’s past my shoulders, I can more easily wear very androgynous outfits. I think you look to be more autumn than summer. Some of the cooler softer colours seem to wash you out ( though it could be the camera). I like you in stronger colours and some contrast, the breton is great, but not with the boots. I like your hair and maybe that's why crisper looks are suiting you. Hello, just chiming in with my two cents: I strongly suggest you are a soft autumn, the green dress really makes you glow whereas I felt the greys and cool toned colours washed you out, especially all black was like the clothes wearing you and looks quite severe. Also feel the stripe top has a bit too much contrast for you. Skirts, jeans and coats that are fuller length flatter you the most for sure and I thought the black jeans you weren’t sure of were the best ones when you cropped them slightly, the first blue jeans made your proportions look off, almost frumpy, possibly because they’re almost skinny jeans and look dated, I’d go for a straight leg, boot leg or slightly wide leg for you in a high waist. I’d stay away from ankle boots with skirts or dresses because they cut you off in a weird way, flats or long boots would work or stockings to keep the line. Your mary janes look so damn cute with your haircut, I was reminded of Camille Yolaine, you seem to have a similar body type to her! Puff sleeves is great on you and I loved the denim jacket with collar on you it’s the perfect pairing of masculine denim and very feminine cut! Hope that helps in any way xox

I also think you suit a stronger, higher contrast of colours, for example when you where the striped boat neck it really looks great on you! And they are more along the lines of winter, at least I think from the screen Im seeing haha. Anyway,,, id be so keen to see what colour season you are truly! 🙂 sorry for all the writing !

      Hi Steph, love all the writing - thank you for being thorough!! I'd really like to get my colours done but I want to do it in person rather than online (for the full experience ya know?) - if I ever make the time I will obviously share it on my channel 😆
      I will do the cream vs white test and see how i go!! 👀👀👀

    Thanks for your videos ☺️ Have you ever considered bright spring as your color season (or maybe bright winter)? You wear those high contrast looks so well, you also seem to be able to wear black very well… The red of the sweater looks gorgeous on you 🥰 I say that because I was mistyped as a kind of soft autumn (I have a little bit of warmth in hair and skin and green eyes) but I always felt kind of heavy in those colors and my complexion looked grayish- that’s why I thought I must have been typed correctly. I would never have thought that I could wear bright colors. Turns out that I am a bright season and I need brightness in the colors I wear to bring out the brightness in my hair, skin and eyes. It took me a while to get used to those colors but I look so much prettier and more delicate -and not grey at all - in bright winter colors 😅 you might want to test this 🥰

      Thank you for this! I am sooo much more confused about colours after reading everyone's different opinions 😂 and now absolutely determined to figure it all out. I am completely open to trying brights and stay tuned to see if I discover anything revolutionary 🤭 I'm so happy you found what works for you! It must be a giant relief 🧡

    Hi Alanna! I always find your videos so lovely, you've become one of my favourite people here on TH-cam! ❤I think you look stunning in black (although you weren't supposed to, given your colouring, but it just shows that we should take style recommendations based on colouring, kibbe and such with a grain of salt 🤷). I loved all your all-black outfits, and I think fitted tops, with fitted shoulders, suit you too regardless of the neckline's shape. White and cream also go very well on you, and I also like the soft pink Gaspard. With skirts and dresses, both above the knee and ankle-length silhouettes look great. The mid-calf length looks slightly awkward, but you can pull it off in the winter with black tights and boots; in the summer, nude flats could also balance that awkwardness. As for jeans, look for anything with a very high waist - the ribcage looked amazing, but those are extremely uncomfortable jeans for anyone with curvier hips, so I can't really recommend them. My go-to jeans are the 501s, but I have a ridiculously short torso, so they may not be the best for you. I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but if you love slim jeans, just wear them! I still wear mine, especially when I don't want to feel swallowed by my oversized tops, and I still think they look great with bulkier boots. Believe me, outside of the internet nobody cares that they look dated. ALSO, your hair looks awesome, it really suits your delicate features! Give it time and you'll get used to it. 🥰

      I do wish the mid calf skirt was longer 😤 it is perfect apart from the length!
      Thank you for all your observations and recommendations - I have a feeling you are right about the 501s but the search will continue! And my comfort zone is stretching a bit when it comes to different silhouettes as well (as in, wearing any jeans that are not skinny 😅)

    I'm not sure if I've seen you with longer hair but all of these outfits look good on you and I don't see any problem with them. Maybe just a little time to get used to how you look with the haircut is all you need.

    I think your hair cut is more classic than your Longer hair. So every outfit that is '' French'' as you say, less boho, suits you better now.
    What you could do is curl your hair when you wear more boho outfits. Because they need less structured hair. Well... 😊 Just an idea. I really like French outfits on you and you wearing skirts like that blue Jean one with a jumper or a cardigan. Very cute.

    I came across this video and fast forwarded through your wardrobe. 90% of these clothes are wrong for your coloring and body type. I think you're a True Spring like Amy Adams, so look at that color palette. The shapeless dresses and pants are frumpy, make you look much older than you are, and sloppy. The only good pieces are the full skirts and fitted dresses. The black jeans at the end look fine on you. Look into your Kibbe Body Type, I think you are a Gamine, like Audrey Hepburn. I agree your short hair doesn't match your current style, except for the pieces I mentioned. I hope this wasn't too harsh! Good luck!

    I think there is no issue with your hair cut and all those necklines, they all look nice on you.
    You look lovely in the soft Pink cardi, and the Grey-ish Blue high neck top thing, which seemed like cool tints/tones, or maybe it's the light and camera and my judgment is skewed, orrrrrr, maybe you ain't more autumn leaning as you think...
    I don't think the strips and high contrasting patterns flatter you, my eyes only notice the pattern, and your face and features disappear... Same with Black, True Red, and saturated hues.... They are just too strong for your soft colorings and features.... I think close to the face, soft/dusty colors suit you best...
